Last week i took a trip to Virginia. It was nice having the time to clear my head and distract myself from classwork for a little while. Unfortunately i did not accomplish nearly as much i would have liked to for this project last week. With our review on Thursday my hope is that we will use these next few days to make sure all of our chickens are in line. We really want to deliver a final project to Robbie that provides useful insight into his industry. At times this project can become quite daunting. It is challenging to... Continue reading

This week I'm taking a brief trip to Virginia so i will be working from the road. Its not ideal considering how beneficial working with Arlene in person is. I've noticed that our ability to strategize is greatly improved when working in person. Working from the road offers a variety of distractions so it will be on me to set aside the time to accomplish what i need in order to stay on track with our charter. With another week in the bag I am feeling good about the direction of our project. We have clear goals set for this... Continue reading

It doesn't seem like theres a second of the day i am not thinking about this project. As the deadline gets closer I feel as though I am further from completing all the goals i need to before the deadline. I am optimistic in our abilities to deliver a quality product but i still feel uncomfortable with the amount of progress we have made. I have no doubt we'll make it over all of our obstacles but i would be foolish to ignore their existence. I look forward to the sense of accomplishment i will feel after this project but... I have collected the data from my first qualitative survey. This first survey has been a major lesson in research methods. I find it hard to determine just how many questions i should pose in a survey. I want to make sure i am getting data on everything i need but i don't want my surveys to become loaded with so many questions that my respondents lose interest and their answers become compromised. I've got a clearer sense of what i would like to ask in this second round thanks to the answers i got from the first round. Last... Continue reading

Last week's review with Drew was a push in the right direction. The meeting re aligned our efforts with the target consumer we are trying to reach. After the meeting my partner Arlene took to the competitive matrix while I began drafting surveys and sending them out. The responses are slowly dribbling in. I've gone over some of the responses we've received so far and some of the data will be very useful. It is going to take some time to pour over all of the responses because most of the questions were open ended. Once i extract insights from... Continue reading

The in class session last Monday cleared up a lot of uncertainty i was having. The attribute value mapping practice helped me better visualize direct and indirect benefits my client's product/services provide. Going into this week things are looking up for us. We have our meeting with Drew this evening and I always look forward to the opportunity for some critiques. This is a good chance for us to be made aware of any major or minor holes in our project we may have overlooked. My biggest fears this week are external factors. I have a plethora of projects due... First off, Fly Eagles Fly!! How about that game?! Okay back to topic. Like many of the other groups, now that the charter is in I feel like the real work can begin. Now that our path is set we can begin crossing checkpoints off on our way to creating a successful marketing campaign. As many others have noted in their posts, this feels like the first week of true work on this project. Over the weekend I began constructing a qualitative survey that will better frame the benefits our client provides to his customers through his services. Admittedly it... Continue reading

Another week in the bag and the capstone charter along with it. Admittedly I have some anxiety submitting it. Based on the responses it receives, we could be headed on the right path and keep on smooth sailing, on the other hand we might have to reconsider our approach entirely. At any rate I should have affirmation one way or the other. Personally I think we are on a good path. We have three distinct goals and a plan on how to reach them. Laying out everything I have to do to reach these goals, the tasks can seem daunting.... Continue reading

Three weeks into this capstone assignment I feel the biggest challenge is ambiguity and time management. Since the initial client meeting I am feeling more confident however in what my goals are. I am working with O’Brien Guitars and my correspondent is the CEO/Founder Robbie. O’Brien Guitars provides individuals with the opportunity to learn how to build their own guitars. Robbie’s catalog of courses is vast and diverse and is available in both online and in person format. I am excited to take him on as a client because he seems flexible and understanding. While his company isn’t experiencing any... Continue reading
