That has to be one of the biggest verbal slaps to the face I can recall a coach giving a player. Luckily for Blatche, he plays for the Wizards, and I don't imagine Flip giving him the D'Antoni permanent-bench-seat routine. But it's a wake-up call for sure. He's either going to get it, or shut down. Either way, well done Flip!

Amen, Doc. This is exactly what I was referring to with my comment in the earlier post. We need some hungry players to push and motivate the vets.

I'm not saying Tyler himself - just a motor player like him that treats practice like it's game 7 of the finals - essentially someone to bring our attitude back to where it was in 2008, and constantly push the team. Yes, Perk can be the in-game enforcer, but I'm talking about a behind-the-scenes player that can ignite our veterans the same way KG did when he first arrived. All I want back is the fire, and I think a young, hungry banger is the type of player Danny could bring in easily and get another solid year from our vets.

The On/Off switch they've developed is truly frightening. Even if we're not the 08 squad, we still should have been dominating these lesser opponents all year long. It's nice to see that they seem to finally have gotten their act together - and based on that sentence you can see I've downed my pint of Kool-Aid this morning - but I'd like to see them run the table heading into the playoffs. In an ideal world, this offseason Danny would go get a young, hungry player to push everyone in practice and bring out, and maintain, the competitive nature of the veterans all season long. Think a Tyler Hansbrough type of big man that will challenge KG's manhood in practice and won't back down. We need that fire. Unfortunately, even if Danny got him, we know Doc would never play this fictitious player so it's a moot point. But the severe lack of motivation we've witnessed this season is terrifying.

This is a must-win, as much as you can have a must-win game in March. Need to show some pride out on the court tonight.

We could write these posts about everybody in the organization, from Scal to Doc to Doo. Sure, injuries aren't helping, but I just think it's an overall epidemic on the team. The heart isn't there. The killer instinct isn't there. When the veteran leaders can't get up for the games, it spreads to everyone and after a few games it becomes the norm. Ubuntu is buried in the past. Everyone is just biding their time, hoping they can flip the switch come playoff time. It's rather depressing to watch.

I have to agree with Perry to some degree - the return of KG has definitely made an impact on Perk's recent decline. Just check out the game log for Perk since 1/22 (when KG came back). The baffling part is that he was playing great alongside KG prior to the injury, so there's certainly more to the equation. Just not sure what...
