No News.....
Things here are progressing very nicely. On Tuesday, we’ll be entering week three of the second chemo treatment. This is a good thing as we’re now prepared for what happens and when after each treatment. Treatment week starts on Tuesday (the next one is on 4/30) with the chemo cocktail.... Continue reading

Here We Go Again!
On the road again; driving to Dallas again today. Second round of Chemo starts this morning at 9AM so we hope to be home by early afternoon. Wore out Mandy’s trusted old credit card with all the extra swipes for co pays; the new one arrived yesterday just in time... Continue reading

The Glad Game
Pollyanna had an 'optimistic attitude' and a 'philosophy of life' which centered on what she called "The Glad Game". This game consists of finding something to be glad about in every situation. Here goes my take on it today: Yesterday's 'first day of chemo' was another 'longer than planned for... Continue reading

High Anxiety
There have been dozens of doctor visits where we both went into the examining room to see the doctor, but a week ago it was my (Mandy’s) turn to sit in the side chair and Gary got to occupy the paper covered table of honor. The Dr noticed that Gary’s... Continue reading

FINALLY! After almost a week of leaving messages with the Oncologist’s nurse, we were called back; Mandy’s chemo will start next week Tuesday, March 19th. Continue reading

Chemo Cocktail and Schedule
The appointments yesterday went great – good news all around. Mandy’s surgeon is really pleased with the healing. We also met with the Medical Oncologist and she was really pleased with the pathology report and Mandy’s baseline lab report. So, barring any scheduling conflicts, chemo starts on either 3/12 pr... Third Surgery
We had a couple of phone calls yesterday after a couple of text messages and a Facebook posting reminding us that we ‘dropped the ball’ in keeping everyone that’s interested in Mandy’s progress posted on what’s going on. I am sorry and promise I’ll be more diligent with timely updates.... Continue reading

Cancer Free
Mandy had her post operative consultation this morning. The pathology reports were negative. No additional cancer cells were found. There are several next steps; another visit with the surgeon to check on how things are healing and a port will be inserted to facilitate the chemo therapy process. Then there’s... Continue reading

The Best Valentine’s Day Ever
Lot water has gone under the bridge since last writing here. There’s been a Super Bowl (I won the online pool and $200), several house showings, dinner’s with the kids and their families, dinners with our ‘Ranch’ friends, and some more time at Baylor Uptown in Dallas. About 8 hours….... Continue reading

We Can but It Takes a Team
The ‘I Can’ within ‘Fight Cancer’ catch phrase of the Cancer Society is a misnomer. No one does this alone. It takes a team of talented, educated, and caring professionals all specializing within their area of specialty, as well as an abundance of faith, friends, and family support to get... Plan B
Mandy has a very good friend whose outlook closely parallels ‘Life is always Plan B’! That’s pretty much where we are as I write this. We go back to the surgeon today and fully expect that we’ll be rescheduling a second surgery. We also have an appointment with an Oncologist... Continue reading

Roller Coaster Ride
I have never liked roller coasters and we both don’t like the ride we have been on for the past few months. Texas Oncology called this morning to schedule radiation treatments. Anxious for good news, we assumed that was confirmation of the best of three possible outcomes. Unfortunately, the news... Continue reading

Long Day
Long day yesterday but everything went well. Left the house at 6:30 am and arrived at at the radiologists at 7:40; 10 minutes early. There was a good bit of traffic but no wrecks to slow things to a crawl. With tiny wires, the radiologist marked the areas for tissue... Continue reading

Whew!
We left the house at 6:30 am and were home at 6:30 pm. All went well. The Dr was very pleased with the way things went. The tired patient is very glad to be home and is relaxing on the sofa. More tomorrow. Continue reading

Tomorrow’s ‘The Day’
Over the past couple of weeks, the only thing quiet around here has been this web site. Mandy’s been in the kitchen preparing her version of MRE’s (military for Meals Ready to Eat). The freezer is full and while I really appreciate it, I actually know my way around the... Continue reading

Small Delay
Well, testing is done; finally. After the fiasco at the Baylor Imaging Center in Dallas, Mandy settled in to a new location and a different radiologist. Unfortunately, when we first started this process, it was with Baylor Imaging in Dallas playing a part in the surgery set-up. Now, Dr Elizabeth... Continue reading

More News
Mandy shot the moon a couple of days ago and yesterday, she had the opportunity to talk with her surgeon. The good news was that the right breast is not cancerous. Unfortunately, the test could not confirm it’s cancer free. Whatever is there, it pre-cancerous. So…. There are more decisions... Continue reading

Reset on MLS
Lots of decisions; least of which is what to do about selling the house. Spoke with our realtor yesterday and we decided to take it off MSL for at least 30 days – probably until the first or second week in January. 30 days is the threshold for resetting the... Continue reading
