Yes, it's been far too long since I've posted here; like much of America, I've become used to the short form of Facebook. However, I'd like to bring this blog back to life... However, one of my perennial favorite shows--despite... Continue reading

Bonus points if you recognize the obscure geek/literary reference... So, with week two of Dancing With the Stars done, and, having failed to get even close to identifying the front runners last week, I think I've managed to narrow things... Continue reading

The short answer? Best. Premiere. Ever. Well, first, congrats to ABC for not casting any a-holes or clowns. I'm actually looking forward to seeing a group of maybe-not-quite celebrities but at least nobody objectionable. That being said... 1. Bruno's suit?... Continue reading

So--riddle me this... On ABC's Once Upon a Time--wherein all your favorite fairy tale characters like Snow White and Rumplestiltskin are alive and well and living today in Storybrooke, Maine--the main character (Snow White's daughter) drives a beat-up, vintage VW... Continue reading

Time for my snap judgments (and, frankly, after last season's predictions, I'm feeling pretty confident)... Ron Artest: Well, there's always one bad boy, and while I appreciate his motivations, it's not clear his heart's in it (although perhaps I could... Continue reading

1. It's deliciously ironic that, for all the talk of the Tony Awards being the gay equivalent of the Superbowl, host Neil Patrick Harris opened with the show with a brilliantly hilarious song explaining that Broadway is "not just for... Continue reading

Well, my Riviera--now christened Dolores--made her maiden long-distance this past weekend, joining a Lambda Car Club caravan from Detroit to Cincinnati. Along the way, I learned a few things... Despite the lack of reclining seats, I was reasonably comfortable over... Continue reading

Well , it's week two of Dancing With the Stars; what have we learned? 1. Mark Ballas needs to remember this is not the Ringling Brothers circus. Hopefully his disastrous choreography won't get Chelsea booted. 2. Cheryl Burke can apparently... Continue reading

A CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time. So she went to the Western Wall and there he... Continue reading

Is this thing on? I confess, I've lost track of what season they're on, but I'm pleased the DWTS producers decided that reality whores (<cough> Kate Gosselin <cough>) and political slimeballs (<cough> Tom DeLay <cough>) were neither entertaining nor appropriate.... Continue reading

Did you do anything to your Safari settings to log on? Just got off a Delta flight, and when I fired up Safari it said I wasn't connected, despite showing Gogo Mobile in Settings. Managed to get to the login page with the Atomic browser.

Although I am very, very happy driving my Mini--still a blast after twelve years--I haven't made any secret of the fact that I've always lusted after the first-generation Buick Rivieras. For those unfamiliar with the backstory--presented in greater detail here--was... Continue reading

Well, when I first saw the list of "stars" on this season's "Dancing With The Stars", my first thought was "Thanks gods for TiVo", because I would be fast-forwarding even more than previous years (see also: sleazeball politician Tom DeLay... Continue reading

Well, come this October it will be seven years since we bought our house here in the charming suburb of Royal Oak. And with the anniversary, such as it is, comes the proverbial seven-year-itch--in this case, meaning it's time for... Continue reading

Naturally, most of my friends weren't terribly surprised when I told them I was getting an iPad. I had formulated the strategy back in January when Mr. Jobs threw his little coming-out party. When we first got our house, I... Continue reading

So, let me get this straight: according to Bruno on 'Dancing With the Stars', Kate Gosselin is less exciting to watch than a frock on a hangar. Pardon my French, but what the fuck do we have to do to... Continue reading

So we're in New York (I'm covering the New York Auto Show, while my partner sightsees for a couple of days, and then we spend a couple of days in Brooklyn), and finishing up a delicious Italian dinner in midtown... Continue reading

I usually don't do a followup Dancing With The Stars post after my first-week predictions, but this week was...weird...enough to make a few observations... Overall, some significantly improved performances--and our first 10s of the season! I even thought Jake the... Continue reading

Good heavens. Ten seasons (in five years) already? Yes, it's that's time again--time for B, C, and D-list "celebrities" (and the faux-famous) to hit the floor in Dancing With The Stars. So, let's see what we've got... To begin with,... Continue reading
