what's everyone worried about? if jack bauer can come back from the dead twice (or was it three times?) then he can work this strike out.
at least it gives us more time to pray: "please, god, don't let them bring back kim bauer. please, please, please!!!"
Oh No!!!
I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.
the gourds! excellent!! i saw them in concert @ the h.o.b. in new orleans in '02. it was a bizarre concert to say the least. all i remember is them singing "amazing grace" flat out drunk (and/or high) and screaming "get thee to a nunnery!" right in the middle of it. hehehe... still giggling.
Music Monday 7.2.07
Stuff I'm eager to check out... The Gourds: Here's their KEXP life performance. Lively & fun. Shapes and Sizes. Whoa. Curious. My kids are singing this... and this... and this... and this... and this...
man, this is so encouraging!
Reasons Why I Love Us
Here's a reason why I love the SBC: Ed Stetzer. Some good news from LifeWay... Three Southern Baptist entities - LifeWay Christian Resources, the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the International Mission Board (IMB) - have forged a collaborative research effort in which LifeWay Researc...
brother, i am so sorry for your loss. i am praying for you and your family...
Margo McCoy 1947-2007
I received a call on Monday from my Dad. He and Mom (who has been struggling with terminal cancer for the last 6 months) wanted all the kids and our families to come on Tuesday night for one last big discussion so we can all express some final thoughts with each other, knowing Mom had weeks l...
un stinkin' believable. that peeves me for the reason that you mention: propaganda. seriously, there is always going to be bias in any "news" medium, but this is ridiculously blatant. thanks for the "watch dog" report, steve. *sigh*
Reasons Why I Hate Us 2
Baptist "Press" has two articles of note today (that's two more than normal). First is the "No Beer at NCAA 'Kind of Fun'" article. This has to do with SBC life in what way? I agree that basketball games without drunk frat guys are better, but this is clearly on BP as anti-alcohol prop-A-g...
'tis a great book, steve. i read it earlier this spring and found it to be unbelievably encouraging. grace and peace, brother.
Book Review: When the Darkness Will Not Lift
I just finished John Piper's new book, When the Darkness Will Not Lift (audiobook). It's about 70 pages long, helpfully short for someone who is weighed down with darkness. You can pick it up for $8, or find it online for free thanks to Desiring God. This is a very encouraging little book....
haha! i dig it, man! what a great list!
a suggestion or two:
"bittersweet symphony" (the verve)
"numb" (linkin park)
what about a positive song to look forward to next year's season: "i get knocked down" (chumbawumba)
Music Monday 2.5.07
Hey, hey, it's music Monday. With the Bears loss I thought it would be fun to mention a few songs that let the depressed wallow in their depression (think Dwight Schrute listening to "Everybody Hurts" when Michael embraces the temp). Some songs are good for the lyrics, others mainly for the ti...
*sigh* i still think it should have been ravens vs. saints. oh well. welcome to the looser pit with the rest of us!
Super Bowl Prediction: Bears vs. Colts
I decided to NOT make a prediction on the Super Bowl, though everyone already knows I believe the Bears will win. But I can't restrain myself. I...must...predict. My mandatory "Da Bears" pick is Chicago 213, Colts 10. But my slightly more realistic pick is Bears by 3: Bears 31, Colts 28. I...
sweetness! thanks, steve...

Super Bowl Time!
YES! The Chicago Bears are on their way to the Super Bowl in Miami! Woooohooooo! What a game. What a day. Bear weather baby. Photo HT to Sportsline.
*sigh* sorry, i have to disagree with you. i was rooting for the saints--something about the underdog that i just gotta pull for 'em. (i'm also still licking wounds from the hometown ravens loosing last week). now i've gotta pull for the pats to beat the colts and humble the bears... :)

wow. i'm getting into this dialogue really late. the office is one of the few "must see tv" shows we have in our family. one of my personal favorites is the episode where dwight and michael go through the complaints box--and jim confesses to dozens of things he has done to dwight. pretty funny. (i think that's season 2.)
likewise, there is a great pam/dwight/jim moment this season--it involves the cia, a helicopter and a cell phone. ha-sterical.
The Office
I'm through season one of The Office and a few episodes into season two. Man, this show is funny. I know there are a bunch of Office lovers out there. Anyone have a favorite episode or moment? So far my favorites are Diversity Day and any time Dwight says or does something.
bob, found my way here via joe kennedy. unbelievable, man! wow. thanks for your thoughts on this. i've never been to your blog before, and i appreciate your humor and forthright tone.
joe~ andy hasn't gone clear across the freakin' usa, though.
And Bob's head explodes...
So Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX, home of the very photogenic Ed Young Jr has launched a video venue... in Miami. Freakin' Miami. (And yes- Ed Young is the guy famous for driving a tank onstage while preaching). This is 1. Everything wrong with video venues collected in one neat package. 2. ...
what did you do w/ the content of mbb? did you save it before you killed it? sad to see the community go, but i understand your reasoning...
MBB
If you haven't noticed, I've killed my other blog: Missional Baptist Blog. Just thought I would let everyone here know that.
please forgive me, everyone, for my reference to militant islam in this important discussion. it was uncalled for and made out of heated emotion.
SBC 2006: Wednesday & Happy Hour
Joe and I attended the voting on some resolutions this morning. What a pile of waste. If anyone thought we had great changes happening in the SBC, I'm afraid they aren't as great as they might have appeared. This first post is on a resolution against the "use" of alcohol. Shocking, I know...
un-stinkin'-believable.
doesn't militant islam promote teetotalism?

Phriday is for Photos 5.19.06
On the airplane soon after takeoff, flying from Seattle to Chicago, I noticed Mt. Rainier and had to try to capture the view. It was amazing, as you can see. I played with this photo a bit to darken it and I added a sepia tone. My Photography ||| My Photoblog Also see Joe Thorn's Friday ph...
steve, i look forward to your "phriday" photos every week. this one is great. i dig the running cows.
Phriday is for Photos
This barn was beautiful with the sun screaming in over the rural KY mountains. As I snapped this picture I noticed the cows were beginning to charge toward me. I think they wanted something to eat. My Photography ||| My Photoblog Other Friday photos: Joe Thorn, Timmy, Alex, Joe K (some of t...
when fox executives cancelled arrested development because more people watched it than season 3 of 24, jack bauer approved of their preemptive decision and chose to let [most of] them live.
jack bauer loves bunnies. they make great knife-throwing practice targets.
when jack bauer heard a rumor that bigfoot existed, he killed him.
jack bauer isn't tough as nails, nails are as tough as jack bauer.
jack bauer doesn't require food, he runs on nuclear energy.
jack wanted to name kim "covert-ops," but terri won the argument. that's why terri is dead.
when jack bauer crash landed on the "LOST" island he solved all the mysterys AND fixed that dar%^ radio in one episode.
steve~ i'm glad to see that others share a fascination for 24. have you seen some of the 24 body count sites? hysterical...
Jack Bauer Facts
I love the TV show "24." Love it. My wife and I watch it every week without fail. So I had to steal these "Jack Bauer facts" from Jonathan Herron and share them with you. Great stuff. * Jack Bauer's calendar goes from March 31st to April 2nd; no one fools Jack Bauer. * If everyone on 24 fol...
