Gators are two over the scholarship limit. Have to cut or have two of them transfer...Brown's gone if these charges are legit, IMO.

Joe just an FYI, I THINK that a few of the early enrollees are able to count to the 2009 class. So UF may have more than four open spots in the 2010 class.

I don't know about a "risky higher" but Edwards may very well be a risky hire. And for those hating, I don't think you realize he's coached the Dolphins LBs since 2005...not just in 2009.

No, you're not. It is a legitimate question. To clarify one thing you said - I believe the kids that were expelled for DUI were either multiple offenders or had previous records. Machen is not going to expel someone from the school for one mistake (especially if no one was injured). I had friends of friends at UF who were arrested for DUI or something similar and none of them were ever expelled from school. That being said, the decision is still questionable. Do you look at the kid's overall three years at UF or do you continue to punish him for one mistake? What we do not know are all of the things in Meyer's quote that he said Dunlap must accomplish before he is officially cleared. That could very well be a lot. In my opinion, there is no "right" or "wrong" decision here. You can make arguments both ways. From what I can tell, the people best suited to make this decision are the ones who did: Machen, Foley and Meyer. Good post, jo.

What if you took Suh off Nebraska - would they win a game? You make a good point, but he's not going to win it. It's not an MVP award, it's for the most outstanding individual player.

I agree - his reputation can be salvaged. And he seems like he comes from a good home with strong parents. But Bernie Machen doesn't let some students return to school after a DUI, so are they really going to let Dunlap? Will be interesting. Good post.

No. He'll be 5th.

Why exactly am I being mentioned? I have made one comment here in two weeks.

I wouldn't say he "voluntarily walked away." His pockets were stuffed by Dan Snyder.

Agreed. Good for her.

I'm concerned that he can't put up more than 6/7 points or grab more than 4/5 rebounds against these crap teams.

jo, obviously Shipman is having a great game. But how did he play last week. Is this just him playing one game well or a marked improvement from last season?

From the Orlando Sentinel, just expanding on my previous post: "And it seems the Gators are starting to get a little testy. Maybe teams just get a little grouchy in November when the expectations balloon. When asked a pretty innocuous question Saturday about winning 19 straight and how some fans might have forgotten the streak's significance, Coach Urban Meyer asked a reporter if he'd ever been 19-0 at anything, then added "I can answer that for you, you have not." That's a pretty unnecessary shot. "

While Gators fans have certainly been snippy with how things have gone offensively, it is out of a concern for the good of the team. It is saying, "if we can't move the ball now, what happens when we play better teams like Alabama or Texas?" As far as the majority of the crap Urban has been given recently, the majority of it that makes its way to him comes from people like you (the media) not the fans. So while fans are complaining, Urban is not reading message boards and listening to talk radio. But what he does do, probably, is read the newspaper and watch ESPN.

The Gators are on ESPN2 because they are playing a 1-7 team. Clemson vs. FSU is going to be a MUCH better and more competitive game than Florida/Vandy. I love the lack of intelligence that goes on here. It's quite comical.

Fair enough, Sarasota.

Jo is right. No one is a lock. Unfortunately for you, though, UM is not the team he is looking at other than UF. That would be Tennessee (along with Georgia and Alabama). http://www.onlygators.com/11/02/2009/status-updates-for-ufs-top-recruiting-prospects/

As bad as UF needs WR help, I don't think they would even accept his transfer. Unless it was purely to get insight into Kiffin. Good wrap-up of the basketball game, jo. Just not in b-ball mode yet.
