If only we could link him to a sex crime or a late term abortion, Phil might actually prosecute him!
Olathe man arrested after cat's throat was slashed
Unbelievable story from Overland Park ... An OP woman breaks up with her husband, who just happens to be serving in Korea. One of his buddies, age 19, comes and gets his stuff from the couple's apartment. The wife later finds her cat in a trash bin, its throat cut. The buddy has been arrested,...
Just take pictures of the JOCO cars trolling the parks and post them to a website. That might be fun. Got a camera-phone?
MO considers tougher penalties for dealing near parks
In Missouri, a new piece of legislation would make it a Class A felony for anybody who sold heroin, cocaine, LSD, amphetamines or methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a park. Convicts would get a minimum of 10 years, a max of life in prison. Democrats are concerned because they say it would fo...
Could you be a little more specific? I'd like to know exactly what streets to avoid.
JoCo sobriety checkpoints
From The Star: Sobriety checkpoints are scheduled for late Friday-early Saturday in Lenexa and late Saturday-early Sunday in Shawnee, police said. The sheriff's office will participate in both.
I think the horse may be embarrased because it's not the first time that something like this has happened.
Drunk, horse seek refuge in bank lobby
From Germany ... A man was riding his horse home from the bar when he got tired and decided to sleep in a bank lobby. He decided to bring the horse inside with him. (The drunk, ID'd only as Wolfgang H., can be seen lying on the ground in the lower left corner.) A customer found them. Police we...
Something just seems weird about a pot head wanting a gun permit. The dopers that I know aren't into guns at all.
Police weed out concealed-carry applicant
Pothead -- reeking heavily of pot -- goes to police HQ and seeks concealed-carry permit. It ends poorly for him. Hat Tip: Thanks to Blondie and The_DB!
But, did he get his gun permit?

Hasn't everyone done something like this?
I served with Captain America, I knew Captain America, Captain America was a friend of mine. Sir, you're no Captain America.
A Florida doctor dressed up as Captain America for a pub crawl. That's not a crime. But police say he stuffed a burrito down his pants and encouraged women in the bar to touch it. He's also accused of groping one lady. Doc went to jail, where police say he tried to flush a joint -- which had b...
Put what is the answer? When a tragedy like VT occurs folks jump on the gun control (or no gun control) bandwagon and we get no where. For a supposedly civilized country we have a large amount of deaths by guns.
In a crisis, police won't be able to confiscate law-abiders' guns
I missed this, but Missouri passed a law recently barring law-enforcement from confiscating guns and ammo from law-abiding citizens during a crisis. There's been a big push to cement this in law in several states after Hurricane Katrina, when police took away weapons. AP's got a report here.
I thought God loved everyone. What is with these protesters?
Can you spell n-u-t-j-o-b?
Kansas cracks down on funeral protests (sort of)
Kansas now has a law that limits funeral protesters. The governor signed it yesterday, but it won't be enforced until the Kansas Supreme Court or a federal court says it's constitutional. (It's a rare step because they don't want Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist to sue the state and win a fort...
The bill should have set a 150 mile limit, not 150 feet.

Without defending the remark that Imus made, I do think that the reaction was overboard. He had raised a lot of money for charities over the years. How much had Sharpton (who demanded he be fired)raised?

No problem, ghost. It probably was cheaper. In my divorce I ended up paying both lawyers, this way she just has to pay hers.
Accused wife Googled "How to murder"
Melanie McGuire, the New Jersey woman accused of shooting her husband, stuffing him in suitcases and throwing him in Chesapeake Bay, Googled the phrase, "How to commit murder" before his death, authorities say. Hat tip to reader Scott J.!
She should have searched "how to get away with murder"

Maybe we can introduce her to the guy that stabbed his baby and threw it out the car window. Good couple.
Mom admits beheading daughter, 6

Dad stabs baby, throws him out window
INDIANAPOLIS - A man stabbed his 11-month-old son in the back, threw the boy out the car window with the kitchen knife stuck in his back and then drove away, police said Thursday. Hat tip to reader Doc!
So, if one wants to committ suicide with a car, why not hit an overpass at a high rate of speed? Why turn into oncoming traffic and kill someone else?
Man vows to crash, 2 die in collision
A 25-year-old North Carolina man told his girlfriend on the cell phone he was going to swerve into traffic, then crashed head-on into a car, killing a man, 61, and his wife, 58, police said.
HMMMMMMM Just what is "research grade"?
Judge backs private marijuana research
An administrative law judge in Massachusetts has recommended that a professor be allowed to grow research-grade marijuana for use in privately-funded studies of the drug's possible use as a prescription medicine. The ruling could be a historic first, but the DEA has the power to nix it. And HIV ...
It's the guy that talks back to the urinal cake that you really need to worry about.
Urinal cakes to warn about DUI risk
New Mexico has ordered 500 talking urinal cakes that will deliver a recorded anti-DWI message to bar and restaurant patrons who make one last pit stop before getting behind the wheel. "Hey there, big guy. Having a few drinks?" a female voice says a few seconds after an approaching male sets off ...

I would assume that they knew what snorting coke looked like because their D.A.R.E. officer taught them what it looked like. I was amazed what my kids told me about drugs from that program.

I always wonder when I read stories about drug runners, why is there a market? And what makes that market so profitable that people will take such enormous risks?
Inmates beat up Border Patrol agent
Remember the two Border Patrol agents who shot a fleeing drug smuggler in the buttocks, then tried to cover it up? One of them has started his sentence and has already been assaulted by other inmates, who apparently saw the case on America's Most Wanted. He's been in prison about three weeks. (H...
I'm glad that the system has safeguards to ensure that an innocent person has the means to avoid being improperly convicted of a crime, but as I remember at trail the prosecution did a good job of proving his guilt. I agree with G, this sucks.
Conviction overturned in old PV murder
From The Star: The Kansas Supreme Court today overturned the conviction of John Henry Horton, who was found guilty in 2004 of murdering Lizabeth Wilson, a 13-year-old Prairie Village girl, in 1974. In the opinion, the court said that the state failed to present sufficient evidence at Horton’s p...
