Thank you so much for all your hard work, and for one of my favorite articles on parenthood entitled, well, 'On Parenthood', naturally. I agree with you 100%. I have so many ideas for side projects, and even just things that I want to learn on my own...but in the end, they mostly get pushed aside because, well, the only way to get it all done is to ignore my family. It's not worth it. It's enough that I have to spend the whole day at a full-time job, the last thing I want to do is then go home and spend my whole evening staring at a computer again, instead of playing with my kids. Anyone who says they are able to work full time, do multiple side projects and learn a dozen programming languages while still raising 2-3 children is either lying, getting absolutely no sleep, is completely ignoring their children, or they are Scott Hanselman (who admitted, if I remember correctly, that he doesn't go to sleep until 2am most nights). Anyway, good luck with whatever life will bring you. But, most of all, have fun with your family!

Great article. Yes, stopping SOPA isn't really the problem when you look at the big picture. The bill will just be altered and passed when the media isn't looking, secretly tucked into some other bill at the last moment, or something like that. The only way to stop the corruption in government is to stop voting, or, write in a candidate, anyone besides a republican or democrat. If no one went to the polls on election day, or no one voted for a democrat or republican, it would be a huge victory for the people. But, we all know that it will never happen. People are too caught up in the soap opera that is politics without even realizing they are being completely duped. Left/right, democrat/republican, doesn't matter. Both sides are owned by the same corporations/lobbyists, etc. They only differ on the surface, look deep down and they are two arms of the same beast, with the same agenda. On the surface, they take a different path, but both paths lead to the same outcome. That is why nothing ever changes, regardless of who is in power, and why only those two parties are even given the chance of winning. It's all a game, and the only way to stop it is to stop playing.
We're not outnumbered by the kids yet, it's 2 vs 2, but, wow, your article perfectly encompassed what it is like to be a parent. My daughter is already 7 years old, but my son is just 10 months. I couldn't imagine having more than one baby at the same time! This is the perfect quote: "Children give the first four years of your life back to you." Simple, beautiful, and so very true. Thank you for that, and for this article. And congrats and best wishes for you and your (present and future) family!
