Hiking has changed a bit since the little one arrived. We've been avoiding really rugged trails & embracing the gravel trails (low tick risk) close to our house. I carry baby & R carries Dig (when he gets tired of pretending he's a firetruck). & the new normal is working... Continue reading

Pops gave Dig a super cool gift: a butterfly house. With our hands full here, we have only attempted family hikes & a couple of dinners out, so Dig has been a little activity deprived. This little house has inspired lots of conversation & excitement to fill the gap, especially... Continue reading

I have missed this space so much. It has been a wild month navigating our new situation as a family of four. Dig has been a champ & each day is a little bit better; having a baby sister around is gradually becoming the new normal. Dig & baby "scissors"... Continue reading

We're all settled in waiting for our spring baby. She's late. Just like Dig. So there's lots of comfort in the familiar (for mama) right now. Everytime his preschool teachers ask if he has a new sibling, Dig says "soon!" with enthusiasm. We've had some good spring weather for hiking... Continue reading

Hi D, I got the hand mop from the Michael Olaf online store, but I don't see it on there anymore. Will update if I can figure out the brand - I often try to get ideas on the Michael Olaf website and then find the items cheaper elsewhere, so I'm sure it's out there & will take a look for it...
We found another nest to watch this year! Remember the cardinals? This year, a mourning dove made herself at home in a planter on Oma's deck. She was not afraid of human visitors, so Dig got a great look at her nest, eggs, & nestling. There's a nestling under there... Continue reading

We got an awesome vintage aqua mixer for Christmas & it has been loads of fun already. Dig loves to mix/scoop/bake (cookies), so we've been trying lots of recipes. (There have been lots of experiments too, mostly involving decreasing sugar & using alternative flours, but Dig is a pretty easy... Continue reading

Dig has proved himself an all-weather dude. After lots of time indoors due to sickness or rain, we took a walk-turned-bike-ride through the puddles (we set out for a walk, but Dig spotted that bike!) We are so proud of Dig's balance bike skills! He has only been out a... Continue reading

Well, sickness season got us, so we've been navigating the great indoors lately. Despite a sick mama & a sick boy, we've managed to stay pretty active with art projects, cooking (Dig's new passion is baking & it deserves its own post!), reading, & play involving trains, trucks, blocks, &... It has been far too long since I've posted in this space! I have missed it so much. We have had a whirlwind December--wonderful holidays, some not so wonderful illness, and lots of hikes--and 2013 is looking to be a wild ride. 2012 ended on a sad note with the... Continue reading

Dig wanted to see 3 things at the zoo: a giraffe, an ostrich, & a flamingo. Thankfully, we saw all 3 & LOTS more! The baby gorillas, ocelots, & elephant all made a big impression. Big thanks to aunt, uncle, & cousins for sending Dig the animal book that prepared... Continue reading
