I'll be watching it at Springbok (South African Bar) in Van Nuys, CA. For those in the San Fernando valley, who don't want to drive to Hollywood during rush hour, this might be a place to go to. I called yesterday and they said they would put it on.
Where will you be watching Jamaica-USA?
The U.S. men's national team's path to Brazil 2014 continues Friday night with the first of two World Cup qualifying matches against Jamaica in a five-day span. The game in Kingston, Jamaica, is the first U.S. men's national team game to be televised on beIN Sport, a network that is being c...
The guy can score goals. I know some people on here believe he's streaky, but considering the amount of games in the short Mexican seasons (apertura and clausura)and the transfers he's completed -- 26 goals isn't bad. Compare that with the amount of minutes he plays and the amount of goals all of the forwards that have been called up, and all of a sudden he doesn't look so streaky.
Santos Laguna 3, Puebla 1: Match Highlights
It isn't often you have three goals scored in one match by American players in a foreign league (well, unless Clint Dempsey is doing it), but that's what happened in Mexico on Saturday night as Herculez Gomez scored two goals and DaMarcus Beasley added another in Santos Laguna's 3-1 win over...
100% agree with you. People don't realize that JJ has only played 5 or 6 games with the NT, he'll come into his own. His passing forward last night was great. Very calm, very precise.
Which USMNT player stood out for you the most against Canada?
Photo by Rick Osentoski/ISIphotos.com The United States men's national team turned in a strong performance in its Gold Cup opener, topping North American foe Canada, 2-0. While the team effort was impressive, and the victory an important one for a team focused on reclaiming regional bragging...
I chose Jermaine Jones. His passing last night was great, he switched the field many times with perfect passes. He was key on connecting the defense with the forwards. He may not run around all game like MB (He played great too), but it's those smart passes and the calmness to play the right pass that did it for me. I will admit he looked shaky for the first few minutes, but he has only played 6 games with the USMNT. He'll find his footing/place in the team and he'll be rated higher amongst USMNT fans. JJ and MB ran the game last night. Period.

Growing up and playing soccer (both club teams and Latino park leagues) here in California, I can tell you that if you're not paying about 2k a season, you're never going to see a ODP scout or a UNT youth scout. From my experience kids that play at the "poor or ethnic" leagues have a better first touch than the kids playing at u-9 to u-15 leve ayso or club. The only issue is they don't have good coaching because of $$$ restrictions. Can't blame coaches or scouts, they need to make money and put food on the table. So why take a risk on a kid who can't pay to play.
Starikov scores in win vs. Zenit
Ukrainian-born and American-raised striker Eugene Starikov gave Zenit St. Petersburg, the club that owns his rights, a good glimpse at what they might want to consider keeping after he scored a goal to help FK Tom Tomsk beat Zenit, 2-1, on Saturday. Starikov was called into U.S. national team ca...
I went with Agudelo, Herc, Jozy, and Davies. I think Herc brings some good attributes to the national team. Lately, he has been the only player in our whole pool, who can take a direct free-kick at goal and be a threat. Jozy isn't really doing much now, but I know he's going so I'm not going to fight it. Davies is doing well and I think it's very likely that he'll get the knod. Agudelo in my opinion has the best first touch in our forward pool, so that alone seals the deal for me. It's upsetting to see how often first touch gets overlooked; Findley being the greatest example.
Projecting the USA Gold Cup Team: The Forwards
When Bob Bradley sits down to pick his CONCACAF Gold Cup team, deciding on the forwards he is going to bring won't be easy. There are cases for several forwards, and cases against many of those same forwards. Whether it's players who are or aren't scoring goals, or even in the case of Juan A...

Dempsey scores twice, becomes Fulham's career Premier League scoring leader
Clint Dempsey keeps re-writing the record books. A few weeks after setting the single-season goal record for an American in the Premier League, Dempsey scored twice in Fulham's 3-0 victory over Bolton Wednesday to become the club's career leading goal scorer in the Premier League era with 33...
It certainly looks that way. If an English player scored this many goals, he would be courted by all the big clubs and sign a huge contract during the transfer window. Andy Carroll has scored 13 goals just like Clint, and Clint will never see the same pay day for two reasons: 1. Age 2. He's American. I don't want to be that guy that believes that Americans aren't treated equally in europe but it's true. Listen to the announcers when watching EPL games, and look how many times Clint has to prove his worth.

Americans Abroad: Weekend Rewind
photo by Douglas Zimmerman/ISIphotos.com By FRANCO PANIZO Robbie Findley had to wait longer than he would have liked, but he finally made his debut abroad this weekend. Having fully recovered from a thigh injury picked up in February, Findley made his first appearance for Nottingham Forest o...
Hercules Gomez scored twice today. One was a header and the other a free kick.
Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary
Clint Dempsey and Fulham won't be given much of a chance to slow down first-place Manchester United today, but with Wayne Rooney suspended and Manchester United facing a vital Champions League match next week, the Cottagers just might be in position to pull the upset. The match could also of...
Acuña just scored another goal for Queretaro. Are we missing out? I don't think the USMNT is in any position to pass on any striker scoring goals.
Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary
Manchester United takes on Arsenal today in FA Cup action, a match that is easily the best of a busy day of soccer action. The Red Devils will be looking to keep Arsenal down after the Gunners' recent Champions League loss to Barcelona, but Arsenal will have a chance to knock off a United sid...

Americans Abroad Ticker: Blackburn eyes Jones, Spector open to move and more
By FRANCO PANIZO Jermaine Jones' troubles with Schalke 04 could soon come to a close, and Blackburn may be the club to help solve them. Jones is reportedly being looked at by Blackburn Rovers as a potential target in this winter transfer period. Blackburn is looking to acquire the U.S. men's n...
The commentators were saying he might have had a slight ankle knock and that Hughes didn't want to risk him getting hurt. I don't think it was serious since he was able to walk off. The boos directed at hughes were pretty awesome when he pulled dempsey off.
Americans Abroad: Weekend Rewind
By FRANCO PANIZO Eric Lichaj and Aston Villa may have lost their match against Tottenham on Sunday, but the American put forth one of the most solid performances of his young career. Starting at right back in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham on Boxing Day, Lichaj helped contain the dangerous Gareth B...
It's nice to see an American defender be pro-active instead of reactive. Hopefully with today's performance, Lichaj has won Houllier's confidence. 2011 looks like it's going to be a good year for Americans abroad and the USMNT. Dempsey needs to leave Fulham in the summer regardless of their seasons outcome.
