To most reasonable people, freedom means more than just ‘free to do whatever I want’. Taken literally, that approach would produce anarchy—every man, woman, and child for himself or herself. Fortunately, none of us has to live that way (unless you’re reading this in Somalia or a similar disaster area)....

Carla: The "value" of a fan is directly related to the relationship that that fan has with the brand, and with the broader audience of influencers. Fans may have a certain value today based on their level of engagement (their...

Funny, how I always loved certain colors...Turquoise is my favorite among light coral, lavender and white. It corresponds to my inner world, I guess... The serenity I feel inside and the deep connection with nature... Thoughts about exotic tropical paradise (my dream destination), palm trees, the blue ocean and sunny...

I am completely drained and dead... I've been up since 5:00 AM, and from that point on, it's been fast-paced cooking; almond cheese balls to lobster wonton to deviled eggs and beyond! I also had an inspection this morning which, to the PO2, didn't go over too well, so were having another one at 2 PM tomorrow. I spent the ENTIRE evening when I got home polishing my boots and re-ironing every single one of my shirts. Being the Navy element , you do have a LOT of shirts. I've learned a lot this week; next week will be more...

Has it really come to this? Have we really arrived at a place where the protocol for offering praise or compliments requires apology, self-deprecation, and paperwork to prove you're not a stalker? It seems every compliment I get comes with...

Valentines Day is Sunday. I've had the card for my husband for 3 weeks now because I am always afraid the right card would not be there if I didn't buy early. I do the same for all holidays and his birthday. I always want the card to say just the right things. I'll be working a 12 hour shift in the ER that day so not sure what the day holds for me. But I know I am loved. With my having so much pain due to my medical condition my darling husband has been driving me to work...

Finally yesterday it got cool enough to cook . I had something in my crockpot, something on the stovetop and brownies in my oven. So there's food here if you want to come over. During the heat there is no food and that makes life incredibly boring for the eaters who all just wait longingly and hungrily for the heat to abate and for the replenishments to appear in the fridge.

How pretty is this dessert. The snow bunny says it tastes out of this world. She and her French friend tried it and both were just floored at the flavour and both girls are" patisserie afficionados"so it is high praise indeed.

Harley Street, Regent's Park end Today I went to my referral dentist’s surgery in Harley Street to follow up on the previous examination. This session was to last a hour and a half and wasn’t the most pleasant experience of my life but I came out of it with some improvements if also with some less happy news. Afterwards, I too the tube to Green Park and walked along Piccadilly to Dover street. What drew me to Dover Street? For the answer to that and other details, see Goodbye to Harley Street.

My interest in gardening has always been zero . I have enjoyed other people's efforts - liked their flowers, admired their shrubs and eaten with gusto their fresh vegies, But I have not tilled the soil or turned a clod of dirt till now. It is constant hard work but the results do outweigh those labour filled afternoons digging and fertilizing . I also rely a lot on hoping for the best !!
