Wow, you can really see the dane in him in that first picture! We have a big knucklehead great dane named Mouse (Harry Dresden reference intended) with floppy ears intact and he does that exact expression that's all "Well, hello now- what have we here?". They are such characters. It's totally worth getting squished on an hourly basis.

The excerpt from Wil's book is spot on. The autograph is really more of an excuse. The point is to make the memory and see what kind of person they are- to make a connection even if it is brief. The first time I met Wil at PAX we talked about our T-shirt addictions and the algorithms we use to make sure we don't wear the same shirt too close together. I really wouldn't want my memory to be of my favorite actor running away and cursing me. I don't see how anyone would except that like Wil said- that's not what the zealots are after. They are looking for self worth outside of themselves, which is why they react so badly when they don't get what they want. They don't see it as an actor not signing an autograph, they see it as losing their some of their self worth. It's sad but inexcusable. Wil you could always get your own squad of enforcers- I'd volunteer, but I don't scare anyone :) We're all glad that you still do what you do even knowing people like that are out there.

You did, but then a psychic wind blew the idea out of your head and it landed in mine. Thanks for the great idea!

You know what you need to pick tour spots? One of those online map dealies where everyone plots where they live. Post up on blogs, twitter, etc. "If interested in wootstock, tell us where you live" Then you can see where people are congregated. If nothing else you get a really sweet data set. If you come anywhere near Chicago we'll be there.

So say we all! I completely geeked out at that point. I am the only one of our group of four that did not end up with the nasty cough, no idea why though. I may quarantine my husband in the hopes of keeping it that way. Thanks for posting the fun and saving me the trouble of searching youtube for it.

I'm about to leave my job of 3 years, the first real job I've ever had. For a long time I stayed just because the idea of quitting without having something lined up was terrifying. Well, we saved up some and I'm a lot more fed up with the people here so I'm putting in my notice next week. Right about the time that I decided this we discovered a bird's nest in front of the office. There were only 2 babies and one didn't make it. At some point I started equating my leaving with the fledging of the remaining chick. Yesterday I freaked out when I discovered that the baby bird was no longer in the nest. I assumed he had been something's lunch. But, it turns out he's just ahead of me in the fledging schedule because I saw him today hopping around in the bush his nest is in! I guess I'd better get myself moving...

The favorite of our dogs growing up was to sit in the living room (as they were not allowed in the kitchen during dinner time) while we ate and stare at us and CHEW everytime we took a bite. It used to drive my mother nuts! At some point I think they were exiled to the garage during dinner time because of this.

What refreshing snark! I just wasted...uh, er that is spent a fair amount of time reading through all 202 of the comics. So if my boss calls you- be sure to tell him that you made me do it and that it is all your fault. M'kay?
