I'm moving! Check out my new blog at Fox and Toad. I finally bit the bullet, named my design business (yet it's still really hard not to put "business" in quotes), and bought the domain (there's not much at foxandtoad.com right now, but there will be). The blog over there... Continue reading

I've been obsessed with West Elm since long before I could actually furnish my own place. Their new summer line has me drooling. Cliquez the pictures to go to their site. (No, this isn't a sponsored post. I just love it.) (these are measuring cups - amazing!) Continue reading

This deceptively simple project has been frustrating me for weeks. Weeks, I say! H. wanted a new shirt design for Black House. Initially he wanted to use the same image and font we'd used before, which was making it pretty difficult for me to do something we were both happy... Continue reading

The newest version of Jane Eyre opens this weekend. I can hardly wait. Although I'm sure to watch pretty much anything Gothic, English, or involving the names Bronte or Austen, this new Jane is supposed to be even darker than previous versions, verging on a thriller. This is so natural... Continue reading

On January 10, I was chopping up chicken for a stir-fry and, elegant beast that I am, dropped the knife on my foot. This resulted in an ER visit, surgery to reconnect my tendon, crutches, a cast, and finally a walking boot. Today, I went to the doctor's office to... Continue reading

I'm just not the kind of lady who can pull off a strapless princess dress. I would love to, but it's just outside of my style wheelhouse. So it's been...erm...fun...looking for dresses. I haven't been to an actual bridal salon yet, but I may try it just for the experience.... Continue reading

It's possible that I subconsciously love this font because it was used in a Harry Potter movie... Or I just love it because it looks gritty and rough, but not overwrought. It's like League Gothic's cool, reserved punk cousin. I've been trying to sneak this into a t-shirt design for... Continue reading

This blog has felt like a risk for these past three weeks of its infancy. I've kept an online journal/blog in some form or another since age 13. The very first was just for my friends, password-protected and filled with useless information about youth symphony and crushes (incidentally, it's still... Continue reading

I have pages and pages of favorites on Etsy. Here are a few of my latest obsessions. Distinguished party owls by beckykazana. I want these on our wedding cake. Nerdy Harlequin Brooch by catrabbitplush. Speaks for itself. Cathrineholm poster by handz (really just a ton of awesome posters). While I... Continue reading

It's easy to covet everything on the BHLDN site, but these shoes - well, I'll let them speak for themselves. 1. Torsade Peep-Toes 2. Elopement Pumps These are so way out of my price-range...but the pictures are free! Continue reading

Very cool. I'm freckly like you, and I've always been afraid to try anything too bright - but clearly it works. And I want some neon tights, too!

Time to share a recent project! My work colleague Kendra -- who writes hiliarious and adorable stuff here at Planet Kendar -- asked me a few weeks ago if I could help her format a poem she wanted to frame for her daughter's nursery. The poem, "Babies Don't Keep" by... Continue reading

I love the idea of having mismatched (or at least not completely matchy) bridesmaids. Here are a few great examples of making this work. via Ruffled via Love and Lavender via The Natural Wedding Company I really want to give my bridesmaids - three awesome ladies - dresses that they... A facebook friend recently posted this list of amazing libraries around the world, and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library's photo drew me in immediately. Although it looks like a sci-fi cube of shelves with nothing to keep you from falling into the pit below, this is actually a... Continue reading

I've watched this trailer three times and now I'm trying to use the Secret to get it to show up on the Tivoli's list of upcoming films. Alas, it is not there yet. I guess it has to make its rounds in its native country before it gets here, but... Continue reading

If I were a cuter blogger, I would make this Typeface Tuesday, or better yet, Font Friday. Alas, my attempts at being cute usually fail, so I'm going to play it safe and make it font Tuesday: a weekly feature about a super awesome great font that I enjoy and... Continue reading

Aw, really cute! I'm in the planning stages of our wedding (so far, so good, not too stressful) and this is a good reminder of how fun it'll be.

Our wedding is November 10, 2011! (Yes, that's a Thursday.) We've settled on a yellow and gray color scheme for some of the decor, but I think we'll avoid those colors for the bridal party (more on that later). Adorable black and yellow invitations by Kacie Yates from Design Work... Continue reading
