The bulk of the British 'political class', from the Coalition Government to the Labour Party, and by extension to large sections of the MSM (inc BBC, 'Guardian', 'Independent') largely support the Sunni Islamic jihadists in Syria.
And, by stealth, such support is growing, despite what should be obvious lessons from Iraq, 10 years after intervention there.
The West's 'useful idiots' seem oblivious to the likely outcome of their actions on Syria: the formation of a hostile Islamic state, implementing sharia law.
