I was in the audience in SEA. Also noted the painted sign on the back of the Moore and took a photo. :) My group traveled from MSN (me); ATL (my bff & her boyfriend); and DFW (my bff's sister). We were in the second row balcony. Great seats for an even greater show. The whole thing rocked - from the first moment that Ceiling Cat took the stage until the last moment when you all took the final bow. Thank you for doing what you do and for making us nerds feel like the coolest people on earth. xoxo
making a note here: HUGE W00TSTOCK SUCCESS
Friday afternoon, Anne, Storm, and I walked up the street in Seattle toward a towering red brick building. Next to the kind of ancient metal fire escape that inspires poets to write about life in the city, a sign was painted on the side of the building. It identified the building as a theater, th...
Can't wait to see you guys in Seattle! Our little group is converging on you from Madison, WI, Atlanta, GA, and Dallas, TX. The only thing missing is Jonathan Coulton but MC Frontalot is a damn fine substitute.
Get ready to sign some boobs, Wheaton! Or at least the t-shirt that covers my boobs. :)
See you tomorrow night.
w00tstock 2.x is this weekend
Okay, how awesome is that poster? Rich Stevens designed it for us. A T-shirt version will be available at all the 2.x shows, until we sell out of them. So it turns out that w00tstock 2.x kicks off tomorrow with 2.0 in Seattle, and 2.1 on Saturday in Portland. I've been so busy with so many...
Personally, the video made me feel like geek-culture was being co-opted by focusing too heavily on the social media/marketing/trendy version of geek culture. "Just because you use Twitter, doesn't make you a geek" is the best summary yet. Being a geek is about NOT being the popular kid and suffering the consequences of such.
regarding the difference between embracing and exploiting geek culture
I've gotten a ton of criticism from people about the I Am a Geek video that launched yesterday, and I feel the need to respond to it. After watching the video yesterday, I was impressed by the production values, and I thought it was really awesome that it was just one small part of a larger proj...
Okay....I have a strict "no costume" policy but, for this, I'd make an exception.
to anyone who says geeks can't be sexy...
...I present the Star Trek-inspired corset. Set phasers to rawr! (via reddit)
@wilw - great news! Congratulations and I too will be purchasing one week from today once the direct deposit is cleared.
@cyeagerLMT - your post could have been mine... Just received my Dr Horrible DVDs (thus putting me in "happy dance" mode) and also live in Central Time. However, since WOOT.com is Central Time all the time, I'm content to allow @wilw to shower his affection on the Pacific time zone.

UPDATED: Everything you ever wanted to know about the audio version of The Happiest Days of Our Lives but were afraid to ask can be found right here. The audio version of The Happiest Days of Our Lives will go on sale at noon Pacific tomorrow! I will post all the exciting details, as well as a p...
The thing I find most interesting is how blown-out-of-proportion a simple tweet can become. Seriously... I read the tweet and your subsequent blog post and walked away with a clear understanding that two acquaintances were sort of "talking" about how it would be cool if you could cameo. That means nothing more than "one guy is going to talk to another guy and, damn, it would be really fun if something came of it". No promises, no guarantees... How does this end up with a Tim Kring quote in the Chicago Trib? My head is spinning.
All that said, I'll watch anything you're in Wil (as long as you stop playing the uber-creepy serial killers). Also, I agree that you should be on Chuck. Can we make this a gigantic internet rumor now??
<3
PS - I want to marry ToddPM
on the importance of maintaining one's grip on reality
Tim Kring speaks: In any case, "Heroes" creator Tim Kring said Monday that "there is nothing in the works for him at this point – although a bunch of us over here are big fans of his and would love nothing more than to find some part for him." So there's 10 ways to look at this: 0) It ain't g...
"How much keefe is in this movie?? MILES O'keefe!"
in which i once again praise and thank mst3k
A few months ago, my dad gave me a copy of a James Michener book called The Eagle and the Raven. "Read the introduction," my dad said. "I think it will speak to you." He was right. The introduction was all about how Michener saved everything he cut out of his novels, and described how the book I...
I immediately assumed "farting a rainbow" when I saw the picture. This was prior to actually reading the post.
Besides, "farting a rainbow" is so much less twee than "riding a rainbow".
stretch out and wait
When I finish a big acting or writing project, I have this massive crash, like the world's worst hangover combined with a profound sense of emptiness and loss. I understand that this is really common for creative people, but understanding that doesn't make it any easier for me to accept it. I AM...
Frustration = working on a comment, trying to be all witty and shit, and then losing the comment to an internal server error.
argh.
we don't have anything by edmund wells, actually. he's not very popular.
I Propelled an interview with Neal Stephenson this morning. The whole thing is an awesome read, but one thing in particular jumped out at me: "If you choose to read a book today, it's not like a hundred years ago, when that was your only option. Today, when you read a book, you're making a con...
Because of (in spite of??) the fact that there are so many options, my reading goes in spurts. I'm a binge-reader. That being said, I think that books have to be "better" these days - in order to compete.
"Better" is relative, of course. I've noticed a trend in authors to write as though the reader is watching t.v. Does that make sense?? So...the book is certainly EASIER to read but not, in a literal sense, better writing.
Okay...I'm done now.

High-larious. And I'm of a certain "older" age. (Man, I hate to admit that...)
i don't know what i'm to say, i'll say it anyway
If you are of a certain age, there are probably three seminal music videos that blew your mind at one point in your life: Money for Nothing, You Might Think, and Take on Me . (Sigh. Okay, fine, and the extended version of Thriller. At least I'll admit it. Shut up.) Anyway, my friend Jun (who is...
Nice artwork! I like how it captured all elements of the post - the cat; the ascot; the pipe; Wil's awesome beard. Oh wait...the awesome beard might have been from a different post.
Anyway...I love it and, of course, love the inspiration for it. That particular post was especially fun.
egad, a base tone denotes a bad age
WWdN reader Katie D. was inspired by yesterday's audiobook post, and sent me this incredibly awesome piece of art: Several readers sent me this story from the Mail Tribune about some of Stand By Me's locations. If you are up in Southern Oregon, and you want to see some of the train tracks and ...
