What we do, for the majority of our day, all of the evening and fortunately not at night. The early newborn days of napping anywhere are gone. He still needs just as much sleep, but he has become very picky about how to get that sleep. In the mornings I don't cater to it as much. He gets put down, sleeps for a few moments then wakes up. There is more letting the baby cry happening while I get the girls dressed, while I shower and feed us, tidy one dish, little things is all we can manage. We do... Continue reading

Keith's first surprise of the day, the girls and Kian made him footprint/handprint cards. My friend came over the other day with a homemade ink made with berries and vinegar, which was really good because her baby put a fist full of ink right in his mouth!!! We also got him 12 mystery beers. Keith is making his own beer lately, so I wanted to help him learn beer ingredients. So I covered all the labels and caps and when he pours his beer I want him to guess all the ingredients and where the beer is from! So far... Continue reading

This is always a good moment to breathe in, sibling love BUT the moment I am savoring today... HE SMILED!!! At me even :) None of my kids ever save their first smile for me, but little Kian, my little Prince, my baby, he saved his first smile for me. BREATHING it in, a smiling baby. He has only done it once, this morning, I am hoping to be getting lots more smiles! Hopefully one for the camera. TODAY: Playdate, coffee, catching up with a bestest buddy. Then to the chiro for me and Kian! He has a crazy popping... Continue reading

Yes going to Blacks!! thank you! Ya I was nervous about Superstore, it flusters me as well, I used to not even go near that store because of the busyness! But the one on 4th and the right times of day is not too busy and kinda enjoyable!! 3 kids there was a little scary, but they all did pretty good!!

Yesterday was much better thank you. Great playdate for Kian, haha, it was more for me really :) Craft project for Fathers Day completed AND a evening with no awful fussy baby time! Just not the greatest night sleep, but all in all a pretty good day. Not much new is happening, just put away all the newborn and some 0-3 month clothes of Kian's. He is currently in some 3-6 month sleepers....big little dude. Switched him to size 1 diapers.....big little dude. And taught him to drive....ok so maybe it feels like he is growing up kinda fast! It's... Continue reading

Yesterday was....just....ya. It sucked monkey chunks. It started pleasant, like most of our mornings do. Coffee, blogging, happy baby awake time, cartoons and cereal. Then the usual annoyances of the morning, fights over clothes (she just CAN"T wear a ball gown every day, I have to draw the line somewhere) fights over doing their hair (growing out bangs SUCKS) fights over putting shoes on and fights over sitting in the carseat (all 3 kids I have a battle here). But I am used to these everyday fights, they don't even phase me anymore. ANOTHER trip to Superstore, because I forgot... Continue reading

We survived Superstore! Kian slept in the sling the whole time. Ayla had a few near spice attacks, but I managed to distract her from them each time. The checkout was a little rough, but manageable. YAY us! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The biggest question we have been getting these days, is how are the girls doing? Ivy has no issues really, I think the... Continue reading

Isn't he too cute! AHh love this little all boy outfit :) We had a great full weekend! Keith and I have taken up a new activity, tennis! We have courts right across the street from us with 2 playgrounds on either side, so the girls play, Kian hangs out in the carseat in the court with us and Keith and I try to hit the ball back and forth! ha! Great work out and lots of fun, I hope we go back lots. Last night we had a little flash back of our Ivy newborn days. Kian has a... Continue reading

This week have been doing a lot of this lately. And I am breathing it in. Nothing much has been accomplished around the house. And that's ok. Kian will still let me transfer him for naps during the day, but it takes a longer amount of cuddles to get him sleepy enough for the transfer and sometimes I am like why bother! He can just stay here cuddled with me :) The girls are not such big fans of this, but this time will not last and so they may get upset with me a bit, but they will just... Continue reading

After losing Glitter I was not sure whether I wanted a third baby. Obviously I was sad and mourning and I just didn't know if I could survive another loss. I just didn't know what to think. Then one day, out of no where I found a baby hat in the laundry (I posted about this when it happened, but I can't find the post!). I have no idea how the hat got in the laundry, but there it was in my hands. I turned it over and over and tried to picture a little head in the hat. And... Continue reading

Kian is 3 weeks old today. Time can slow down a bit now thanks. This is the hat I wanted him to wear for his newborn pics, as you can see it does not fit at all!! I don't think it ever would have fit Kian's head :0 Kian keeps growing, getting bigger and rollier! He is spending more and more time awake and I see more and more of Keith in his sweet little face. He LOVES his swing (only way I can get him to sleep at night), the sling, the stroller and all the attention his sisters... Continue reading

Since Kian has been born almost every day has had grey skies and rain clouds. I am miserable. I HATE weather like this. If I wanted it I would live in BC and at least have no winter and a real spring and green-ness and flowers and all that. But I live here, in what is supposed to be one of the sunniest cities in Canada. The grey is effecting us all. And yesterday it all came to a boiling point. Case of the GREY MONDAYS attacked. The girls were moody. Ayla spicy. Ivy whiny. It took me 2 TWO... Continue reading

It really does take a village to raise a child. I really believe that. Someone asked me once, actually many people have asked me, why do babies need all these things we have for them? Swings, seats, chairs, mats, exersaucers, jolly jumpers. I didn't have a good answer then, but thinking about it I think I know why. Women used to have their babies in a community, where their mothers, sisters, aunts, friends, neighbours, midwives and assistant midwives were all there to help. The older children would play with all the other children around all day and there was always... Continue reading

This morning for no reason, other then I love my awesome family, I made up a fancy fruity breakfast. Strawberry, banana smoothies, fruit platter with SPECIAL fruits for us, like mangos and kiwis! Chocolate milk, cranberry lemon muffins and of course coffee! Breathing in these little special times. Even though Ayla woke up sick, with a fever and cough and no interest in moving or eating, we still had a sweet moment as a family eating some special food. Breathe. TODAY: Home. Ayla needs rest. Kian needs a day of no outings to get him back into longer sleep stretches... Continue reading

Today is a special and hard day. Today is one of my best friends birthday! Happy Birthday Julie :) Today was also Glitter's due date, or the day Glitter would have been turning 1 years old. 1 year. It is hard to imagine life with a 4,2 and 1 year old running around. Especially since we have a 15 day old we are all kinda lost in. 1 year. He/She would have shared a birthday with his godmama, which would have been so neat. I am glad we still get to celebrate a birthday today and holding little Kian makes... Continue reading

Kian was born at 8lbs 8 ounces. He has been addicted to the boob since birth. His week weigh in he GAINED 100 grams, from 3800 to 3900. Most babes loss a little weight after birth. Not this milk junkie. Yesterday was his 2 week appointment. 9lbs 3 ounces. We have big, growing boy on our hands. Which is good, because I love chunky, rolly polly babies!!! He is a healthly little man. I cannot believe he is 2 weeks old today. Time is flying at warp speed over here. 2 weeks pregnancy would drag on at the end, I... Continue reading

Big Sisters. Ivy has had over 2 years of practice being a big sister and she has jumped roles from big sister to little mom to baby brother! She always wants to hold him, always wants to change him, always wants to fix his cries. She constantly tells me "thank you for baby brother mama" and she is always talking to him about princesses, how much she loves him, giving him toys. They have a bond and he isn't even 2 weeks old yet! It is amazing to watch, I just love her heart and am so proud of her... Continue reading

Kian is 12 days old. We had 6 really hard, painful, tough, no sleeping nights and days. And we have had 6 really nice, happy, fun, sleeping nights and days. I am hoping the happy sleep filled ones are the new norm :) Kian is seriously a perfect baby. The perfect 3rd child. He has 3 1 hour awake periods in a day, and for each he lies awake happy no matter where you put him. He loves watching his big sisters run around him in their screaming chaos. He loves his baby gym mat, his bouncy chair, the change... Continue reading

Breathe. I have a lot to soak in. A lot to take time for, just to breathe it all in. Because these days, they don't last. The sweetness, the smallness, the blissfulness. It is easier to take time to breathe when I am mentally more present, which I am blessed to report I am now feeling since we have figured out a sleeping method! Last night for instance I got 3, 3 hour chunks. Ohh sweet sleep relief. I am not in the sad blue cloud I was in, I have patience and love OHHH do I have love. With... Continue reading

Kian's first week has been filled with mostly nursing, sleeping, pooing and a few adventures. Our first 3 days in bed were so nice to snuggle and get to know each other. The first day downstairs was spent just us 5, feeling out what a family of 5 is like. Then there was the first outing, a car ride adventure and Starbucks. We also had a picnic with a view eating fries, hot dogs and milkshakes from Peters. Lots of good. Lots of bliss. BUT always a but Things have not been so effortlessly joyous. Kian was born at 8lbs... I am not sure how to start this. My mental state leading up to this day was fluctuating. I was constantly praying, constantly reminding myself of my mantra "hours for days", constantly preparing for the event ahead. On the night of the 14th strange things began happening. I was having shooting pains down both inner legs all the way to my feet. They would stop me dead in my tracks. A quick google search showed this was a sign of labour starting up. I went to bed at 9:30 and started VOMITING heart burn. No jokes, I was puking up... Continue reading
