I know nothing about hockey but enough of my friends are Kings fans that I actually watched the end of the game. I'm delighted for the Kings and all their fans!
And I do love your kitchen. :)
Kings win the Stanley. Freaking. Cup.
I was 12 or 13, the first time I went to a hockey game. It was the old purple and gold Kings, at the Forum, against (I think) the Flyers. It would have been around 1983 or 1984, and a though I can't recall much about the game, a few things are clear in my memory: The Forum was not even half ful...
My nephew is intersted in brewing. I totally need to send him a link to this.
Notes on the making of my Polymorph Porter
Monday night, I opened a bottle of the first porter I brewed. I took a picture for the Internets that looks something like this: (click image to embiggen at Imgur) It turned out much better than I expected, considering there was a near disaster when I brewed it. Read on if you want to hear a s...
Wil responded to a post I made! My life is complete :)
Doctor Manhattan and Galactus, together at last.
After months away from home (with occasional 12-24 hour visits), I'm finally in my own house, enjoying something resembling a summer vacation. I'm not too keen on doing anything that isn't goofing off, and I'm really okay with that, because I think I've earned it. Until I feel recharged enough t...
I always thought Galactus was taller.

I love LA. I'm sure it helps that I was born here and it's my home town but I do love LA. (Okay, I hate the damn traffic and the lack of viable public transporation). I love the beach and museums. I love the farmers markets and the swap meets. I really love the patchwork quilt of ethnic neighborhoods and communities. I love that when you smile and say hi to people, they mostly smile shyly back.
we are all going to reseda...
This came into my mind recently: When viewed from the sky, the sprawling neighborhoods that make Los Angeles are a series of small grids, linked by freeways and divided by boulevards into larger grids. When you fly into Los Angeles at night, it's like looking at a circuit board, traffic flowing...
What day are you going to be at Loscon?
*hopes for Friday*
bolts from above hurt the people down below
Three things today: 1. I'm pretty sure I'm not a prima dona, but I've been prima dona-adjacent plenty of times in the course of my acting career. Because of my extensive experience with prima donas, I was able to advise John Scalzi on the matter yesterday, via an IM conversation that he's reprin...
I *love* daylight savings time! It makes me feel like I have more time.
see the sky, the burning rain
I've had a skull-crushing headache almost all week. It moves all around the front of my face, but it's most persistent and most severe around and above my left eye. It's gotten so bad and so miserable, I called my doctor yesterday because I was worried about something Very Bad happening in my si...
A little OT but I'm all excited! My Amazon order of your books "Just A Geek" and "Dancing Barefoot" just arrived! Now if I can only keep from reading them while I'm supposed to be working and/or not reading them before I go on vacation this weekend.
Just A Geek: teh audio book is once again available
Good news, everyone! 10Quicksteps.com, owned and operated by my friend David Lawrence, was offline for some time while David rebuilt the entire site, but it came back online yesterday. Why do you care? Well, If you've been wanting to pick up your very own copy of Just A Geek: Teh Audio Book, it'...
This finally got me off my lazy behind to order your book. I'm really looking forward to reading it. (Oooo....a book to take on vacation with me in a couple of weeks. Perfect!)
klingons crossing the delaware
This. Is. Awesome. It also pairs nicely with this excerpt about Star Trek: The Experience from Just A Geek: We finally make our way to the end of a short line of people waiting to get into the ride. We are in a passageway, standing right next to a large display about the Klingon Empire. A visu...
I'm bummed I didn't get to meet you in person and tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. I kept swinging by the Tokyopop booth in hopes that I might catch you there because I couldn't make it to your panels. Happy belated birthday! :)
Nerd Prom 2007: Day Three in Brief
Today was much better than yesterday. Both of my panels were a fun (and I think the audiences enjoyed them) and I got to spend a bunch of mostly uninterrupted time getting my geek on with Ryan. "You keep calling yourself a nerd," he said to me while we ate lunch, "but you're not a nerd. You're a...
