I've been waiting to show my son Star Wars from the first moment I knew I was pregnant. My husband thinks he's still too young. I disagree. One day I won't be able to wait anymore and I'll just start 'er up. I'll try to remember not to keep my hopes up too high.
First Step Into A Larger World
Luke Skywalker had a plan. He was going to go off to the Academy to train to become a fighter pilot. And if those new droids worked out, he wanted to go sooner rather than later. But his Uncle Owen had a plan too, for Luke to stay on for just one more season. It was the harvest, after all, when...

"Are Those Your Keys?" A BlogHer 2010 Memoir (Part Uno)
I know you have this image of me in your head as a staggeringly handsome social butterfly/blue lobster capable of owning any and every room I flit into with the suave debonairness (debonair suaveness?) of... well, let's just think of me as a cross between Daniel Craig in Casino Royale and the bl...
Those tiles really are so nice and colourful. I didn't realize that they had an entire museum dedicated to their tiles. If I ever make it over to Portugal I will remember that bit of info.
Portuguese tiles
By my second day in Portugal, I'd already stopped trying to photograph every single tile I saw: each street had its buildings with facades or doorways or decorative motifs in gorgeous tiles, and taking photos of them all became impossible. I certainly can't recall each magnificent tile patt...
You are simply amazing to have the skills to whip up a dress in under an hour! It's wonderful.
before she outgrew it
When I cleaned out our wardrobes to put away our winter clothes and bring out the summer ones, I found that I'd collected an impressive number of summer dresses for Rebecca: mostly hand-me-downs, some quite old like this pretty dress, which belonged to my niece a long time ago - 18 years ago, ...
Bryce has said herself that the issue wasn't during her pregnancy but was caused because of her pregnancy. According to doctors her pregnancy caused a rare disorder that could only be solved by her eating amino acid's from animal food products. Since she says it's a rare disorder - it wouldn't be commonly known.
Bryce Dallas Howard: Pregnancy Made Her Quit Veganism But Not for the Reason You Think
Bryce Dallas Howard was a vegan for years prior to the birth of her son, Theo. Although she maintained her vegan lifestyle throughout her pregnancy, it was her pregnancy that triggered a rare condition that meant she had to abandon her animal-free diet. According to an interview with Self M...
I love how so many Europeans can just switch from one language to another - even your young Rebecca! That's awesome and makes me a little envious.
I think it's great that young kids can just get along and be friends without worrying about talking all the time. Very cool.
Corner View ~ noticing
Rebecca befriended a little German girl at the beach: she noticed that the girl did not speak Italian, and switched to English, while the little girl spoke her native German. Yet they got along beautifully, and spent several days playing together, never noticing any language barrier. In fact,...
Those breadsticks look great!
It's kind of awesome when you can make lemonade out of a lemons. I know we're always supposed to be able to do that but I can rarely turn those lemon-days around.
breaking bread sticks
Learning Irish-style crocheting didn't work today. I chained, crocheted some, and then unraveled everything, over and over again, getting progressively more annoyed. Then I called it a day, and went to make bread. Only to find that I didn't have enough flour. Which really annoyed me. ...
I can't imagine pulling a rose off a bush without clippers. I have three very large and prolific rose bushes in front of my house. I've never thought to keep the petals - I always toss the spent blooms into the compost. :S I guess I should give Gina's potpourri recipe a try. I feel like I'm missing an opportunity.
Friday's flowers ~ rose petals
One day eleven years ago, our nearly two year old Nicholas woke up from a nap in the car and found we'd driven 200 kilometers away from the city home he knew, and had come to a house in the middle of woods and country fields. He wasn't impressed, and started crying. We showed him the bunnies...

Why not decorate your Father's Day card with a Leprosy sticker to say that special something?

I love feet pictures - I wonder why that is - and yet I don't think I've ever taken any of my own. Looking at this image reminded me I should try to be a bit more out of the box when snapping shots.
twelve feet
We're having visitors: twelve young feet (fast and loud - so very fast and loud!) scampering around our small house, while four mamma feet stay put as much as possible under the table, catching up on news. Outside, torrential rains are pouring and a cold wind is blowing. A reader commented ab...
Great interview! I love the no-shirt look.
I have a cat who is trying to stalk down and destroy my kids. I wonder if this show will solve that problem. Will have to watch to see if they address killer cats.
The Carrie Ann Inaba Interview!
I had the incredible pleasure of interviewing Carrie Ann Inaba of Dancing With The Stars and now Housecat Housecall, presented by Purina Cat Chow on Animal Planet, beginning this Saturday at 10:30 AM. We could have talked for hours about DWTS and our cats, but here's the YouTube of the inte...
That's a good idea - to sit and think about the day. It's much better than what I do which is rush, rush, rush and jump into bed to fall asleep as fast as I can. I should pause more.
Corner View ~ daily
A quiet moment every evening, to think about where our day went, and where tomorrow is going. This evening, in the company of Anna's print, "Where Am I Going?". Thank you Anna! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For more Corner Views on "daily" around the world, please see Jane's sidebar.
@ndc Her stroller is a City Mini Double Stroller. It does look pretty compact for a double-wide doesn't it?
Mathew McConaughey and Camila Alves Make Beautiful Babies
What do you get when you mix one beautiful woman and one hunky man? Gorgeous babies of course! Camila Alves was seen out recently with her kids in tow. Just see if you can avoid saying "Aw". On Friday, Camila Alves, took a walk in Malibu with her son Levi and daughter Vida. Levi and Vida's ...
Yup, you're right. Ryan Phillipe is the dad of both Ava and Deacon. Apparently he is 5'9" which is shorter than I thought. I guess he looked so much taller because Reese is so petite.
Reese Witherspoon's Kids Meet Robert Pattinson
Wanna meet a sparkley vampire or at least the guy who plays him? Most of us would be out of luck, but not so for the kids of Reese Witherspoon. She recently introduced her children to the man behind the vampire - Robert Pattinson. Reese Witherspoon has been filming the adaptation of Water f...
It does make a great pattern. Maybe you could trace it out on some fabric and stitch something.
carrot tattoo?
When I finally got a chance to spend some time thinning out my carrot plants, I found that I was a little too late, and that many had already grown to snack size - which we enjoyed (after washing them!) - but which hopefully won't have stunted the growth of the rest of the crop. As I was pu...

Extra time on your hands? Why not dye your dog to look like a tiger?

I don't really have a fear of snakes. I've held 6 foot pythons at a friends house so I'd probably be like Maya Rudolph, who really got the short end of the stick with both Salma and Maria trying to climb on her. I mean Gawd, it's not like it was a spider. :)
Salma Hayek's Snake-Induced Freak-Out
I kind of wish Salma Hayek had screamed "I've had it with these motherf*ckin' snakes on this motherf*ckin' publicity tour!" But screaming incoherently works, too. Watch the video of her clawing her way over a co-star to get away from a snake that happened along during an interview and I dare ...
Lady Gaga looks pretty toned down. I don't know how she can see out of the weird black veil or walk in heel-less shoes but I think she looked almost normal...in a Gaga-esque kind of way.
Lady Gaga Attends Her Sister's High School Graduation
Gaga From The Block went to her younger sister's graduation from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City yesterday. She went the thoughtful route, making sure that attention wouldn't be pulled away from the ceremony and the graduates and her sister's accomplishments oh who am I kidding ...
I have a few items of clothing with no pockets. They're very frustrating to wear since I always seem to have a need to put something in a pocket.
sun hats
The sun hats are finally out of the wardrobe And the lightweight skirts with pockets too. Don't you love pockets? I wish all my clothes had pockets, they are so very useful, like for example holding a traveling yarn ball as you are knitting on the go. It however turned grey again in ...
It really does sound (and look) like bliss.
Corner View ~ bliss
At the end of each day here on the doorstep of summer, we sit down together on our little rooftop terrace, and have dinner while the sun sets behind a horizon of wooded hills. And so, as we eat, we say farewell to our day and the sun, and then the clouds turn pink, then purple, then s...
That would be "eat" my face off, not east. Because I don't think a mouse can east anything.
AND THEN!
My weekend got EVEN BETTER, if you can believe it. After staggering downstairs in search of coffee on Saturday morning, I was greeted by the usual sight of Jason making pancakes for the boys. Oh, and this, sitting on our kitchen counter: BELIEVE IT. I took one look at that tiny pointy seiz...

Gary Coleman's Ex Shannon Price Sells Grisly Hospital Pics to Tabloids
Shannon Price is apparently vying for the title of Most Tasteless Widow Ever. Sources report that photos of Gary Coleman, bloodied and intubated, have been sold to a tabloid for five figures, with a cut of the profits going to Shannon Price. The kicker? The pictures were commissioned by Pri...
