Amidst the food coma and crazy holiday shopping, I had a lot of time to think this holiday weekend. Over turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie, I felt an emotion I haven't felt in quite some time: gratitude. I have a wonderful family, a job that pays the bills, friends who understand me, and this blog that acts as my creative outlet. I've been delaying a detailed post about my past jaunt to San Francisco, mainly because I didn't know how to put it in to words. Have you ever had one of those weekends that felt simply magical? My recent weekend in San Francisco can only be described as magical. The weather was phenomenal, with the sun shining brightly all the time. The traffic was minimal, thankfully. And the energy in the city was alive and vibrant. What I love the most about San Francisco is its unique spirit. Unlike other metropolises, San Francisco has a distinct personality, and it reflects the citizens that live within the city's boundaries. After a particularly low week, this quick jaunt to San Francisco was exactly what the doctor ordered. Even though I had a nasty cold, I still managed to see all the sights I wanted including: North Beach, Golden Gate Park, the SF MOMA and Richard Avedon exhibit, the hidden Bourbon and Branch bar. The Elderflower Cocktail at Bourbon and Branch was by far, the most exquisite I've ever had. Worth every penny, in my opinion. Also, I bought a few goodies from cute shops in Noe Valley and Cow Hollow, including an adorable customized tin for a friend and some specialty chocolate. Once again, I must extend my appreciation to the San Francisco Visitors Bureau for sponsoring my trip. It was refreshing to get out of my home, enjoy the sights, and soak up all the sunshine in San Francisco. It's been said once but it's worth repeating: there is no place quite like San Francisco.
