Ok, now that's health care's done let's move on to cap and trade, finance reform, and the other stuff!!!
Hard to sympathize
I expect a torrent of these "victim" articles as the left-wing media tries to help ram Obamacare down the throats of an angry American electorate, but a recent example is not an effective one (3/16, A1, "The coverage gap; Insurance companies say the rules are needed. A Kansas City man’s fear of ...
Thanks for your efforts, no doubt you'll be able to sleep better!
So long
Unfettered friends, As of today I will no longer be serving as The Star's Letters editor. Thanks for all of your contributions to this blog. It will carry on, but without me. Best wishes, and keep the opinions coming. -- Julie Rehm
Ms. Schutte,
Are we still having the Borders War??? I live in Kansas, I shop in Kansas AND Missouri, as most people do. Perhaps the shops offered something not found in Kansas City. Perhaps the streets were cleaner because the respective cities are different in size and the governments are run differently. The snow debacle you describe is largely the result of the incompetence of the city council, mayor and those that refuse to hold them accountable.
By the way you can keep my 1% earnings tax that is taken from me every y year. If Kansas Citians were charged the same tax from Kansas there would likely be pandemonium!!!!
It's a shame...
Snow and taxes
Doug Bonney (1/8, Letters) states that he learned Kansas City streets were worse than Kansas roads when he drove from his home in Brookside to Prairie Village Shopping Center. Did you go there to shop, Mr. Bonney? Maybe that’s why the streets were cleaner there: Because Kansas Citians spend the...
Mr. Moore,
What we really have in America is a plutocracy... (you can look it up). All the whining you do about being led into socialism is a joke...
What do you think medicare, social security, medicaid, ad nauseum is???
You guys love to spout your beck-rush-hannity-isms and claim the "dominant" liberal media ignores or castigates you... that's a good one given the dominance of hatriot AM radio and the personal attack and denigration of almost anyone on the left.
But don't worry, it all changes every four to eight years depending on which party screws up the most or can best promote the lies they promise. Then the other side spends all it's time doing their level best to destroy the other sides agenda until they can win... and all the business interests play each side to insure they have a friend in congress to help make sure the will of business is followed.
Meanwhile A m e r i c a gets screwed again. Pardon me whilst I go throw up...
Our health care comparatively places the US right between Slovenia and Costa Rica... we're better than that don't you think???
Nancy and Harry are fine by me...
Politicians push socialist agenda
Thank you, Sens. Harry Reid and Claire McCaskill, for not listening to the majority of the American people and ramming through your socialist agenda. I do not believe health care is the driving force here. I think it is the power over the American people. I think President Obama wants to lead u...
Ahhh, healthcare American style... I got mine you get yours...
Kinda makes me proud for the US to be between Costa Rica and Slovenia.
Free health clinics
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. For those who would argue we do not need change in the health care system, I can think of no better example for why we should support health care reform than seeing the thousands of people seeking free health care. The increasing numbers of uni...

Quitting before job is done

Moore’s vote on health reform
I am disappointed that we have only one representative committed to the health of Kansans. U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore stood up to insurance lobbyists and voted to pass an essential health care bill on Saturday, while the other three representatives from Kansas — Lynn Jenkins, Jerry Moran and Todd Ti...

Fox fails to inform
As staunchly as conservatives and Republicans would like to believe and espouse, Fox News is not conservative. If the network were truly conservative, it would be offering positive, clear and provable solutions to today’s issues. Nothing of the sort is broadcast. The network is anti-liberal, an...
ohh yeah.... the only people trying to make conservatives "second class citizens" are themselves... desperately trying to protect the core of our country from those evil, lazy, soft hearted libs!!! It sure plays well to the zealots.
el limbo IS a bigot !!!
your phrase for 2010 should be the conservative party... I got mine you get yours!!!
Rams need Rush Limbaugh
Liberals are trying their best to make conservatives into second-class citizens. If you believe what our Founding Fathers believed in, such as personal responsibility, the right to succeed (or fail), the right to life, limited government and, with God’s help, a better nation, then you are labele...

Wrong audience for Obama speech
Does anyone see the irony in President Obama preaching personal responsibility to our young people while supporting irresponsibility in older people with bailout money? Maybe a change of venue for his speech could have been corporate America. Michelle Overton Overland Park

That risible Rush …
Listening to right-wing radio talk shows is equivalent to listening to Tokyo Rose of the World War II era. If I feel like I need a laugh, I listen to Rush Limbaugh rant and rave. If that doesn’t make you laugh, then you don’t have a sense of humor. Jack Helm Deepwater, Mo.

Elderly seen as inconvenience?
I don’t believe Obamacare wants to euthanize seniors, but the concern isn’t exactly far-fetched. If health care is to be rationed the elderly will be viewed as an inconvenience, and the Democrats have a track record that isn’t exactly enviable. Remember, this is a party that supports abortion o...

Kudos for Canada’s system
I am a U.S. citizen who has lived in Canada for more than 30 years. Lately, when I come home to Kansas City to visit my family, people ask me about the Canadian health care system. Here’s what I tell them about my experience. I have had my share of health care issues, and I have had excellent h...

Kansas can handle detainees

kenn,
You reveal way too much of your agnst and personal "diarrhetic feelings" with your loathsome piggi references to Hillary Clinton... If you had anything other than the sadd wingnut hatriot madness incurred from listening to too much talk/bile radio you might notice I didn't attack the recent quitter from AK.
Also since you mention it, I didn't know that Fox news, "fair and balanced", (my a**!!!), also engaged in the coordinated AMERICAN media strike against Palin's daughter. But wait... Fox doesn't count as "real" media since you guys like to play it as us agin them mean ole lefties.
Oh yeah, I also forgot McCain's and Limbuaugh's ugly dog references to Chelsea a few years ago... perhaps your memory is suffering from the diarrhetic thing again. At least McCain had the decency to personally apologize; rush, well he's God to those of your ilk so he's never wrong... right???, geez talk about koolaid!!!

Hey kate and kee,
Gee you're so smart... doing all the advanced math and stuff. I guess you've no doubt been to Portland and ridden it's clean up to date system.
Don't forget that it's free in the center downtown area, unlike the paid lame parking we have just to have access to our "mall of bars", whoppee!!!
The thing is, it goes everywhere, the people there USE it daily, they depend on it, and it works. Unlike KC's, ummm.... what was the last round of budget cuts about??? You know where our lame butt city council cut metro bus service for many that actually USE IT???
Folks like you will help insure that KC stay exactly the way it is while other cities pass us by, ahh what vision...
Opps I forgot! it's time for you to go qualify on I 70 while going to the Kansas Speedway.
