There are people who feel an entitlement to touch you? That's a tiny bit scary, not just the germs thing. If they want to reach out, there are a lot of politicians lurking around right now. Probably not at the con, though. But maybe.
I guess it's flattering in a creepy way "Must touch ... Wheaton ..." rofl
Is it really only 2 days until GenCon? Yes. Yes it is.
On Wednesday, I'm heading to GenCon in Indianapolis. I had a great time when I was there before, and I'm looking forward to attending this year. Here's what you need to know, from GenCon: Wil will be signing autographs in the Autograph Area of the Exhibit Hall, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mo...
Happy Birthday, Wil, and Happy Don't Be a Dick Day, to us all.
This was a wonderful story, and reminded me so much, not of something my Dad told me, but of what he showed me every day i knew him, and what I told him about a week before he passed away (he couldn't speak, lung cancer, oxygen mask, big mess of nasty). But my Mom had told me that he didn't think he had been a good dad, away so much when we were young, with his work in the army. So my last conversation, more or less at him, was what a great dad he had been, how proud I was of him, because of just the things you listed above.
Living them day to day makes the most impact of all, but sometimes it's important to say the words.
Happy Don't Be A Dick Day!
When I gave my 2007 PAX Prime Keynote, I said Arcades were more than just magnificent geek Shangri-Las, filled with all sorts of video games and pinball machines. They were a vital part of my generation’s social development. If I beat another kid in a two player game and taunted him mercilessly...
That's pretty spectacular. Congratulations on getting to do that.
Was this the really cool thing that you were doing so you couldn't go to Comic Con? (at which point I just gave away that I don't really know when that was).
...across the gulf of space...
Last week, I got to do one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life: I went to JPL in La Canada to record a video for the landing of Mars Curiosity on August 5. I have to believe that their first through eighth choices weren't available, because it's the only thing that makes sense, but s...
So if the next time Ryan goes by and that lady is wearing Andorian dilly boppers, are you saying you are partly responsible?
Seriously, he does have the Wheaton Way With the Word.
A troubling realization
This comes to us from my son, Ryan Wheaton. Click it to embiggen: Click to Embiggen Footnote: If there was any question that love -- not biology -- makes a family, look no further than my son's delightfully twisted sense of humor, which I think I helped foster.
G'Lord, I hope you didn't sprain anything!
I love Len Penzo's site, and this is relevant to this post. You might appreciate this. Apart from writing a financial blog, Len is also a Kings fan:

GO KINGS GO!!
This is me when the Kings went up 3-0 tonight against the Devils: I sort of hover with excitement when the Kings score. I can't believe they scored TWICE on the power play tonight. I can't believe they won 4-0. I can't believe they are up 3-0 in the STANLEY CUP FREAKING FINAL. I can believ...
I don't know how to reply to a reply, so just - thank you MarkSchneider and Wil! ;-D
Good News, Bad News
I've been seeing lots of messages on Twitter and Facebook from people who are really excited to come see me tell stories and perform at the upcoming Denver Comicon. I love it that so many people are excited to see me do my thing... and I feel terrible that I have to cancel my attendance this yea...
2012 great year! Congrats on your great opportunity, and glad everybody seems to be keeping it into perspective. Speculation abounds that this will be another great opportunity to enjoy your work.
Speaking of ... You teaser Wil Wheaton! I have been trying and trying to buy a copy of The Happiest Days of Our Lives, but even your link here will not let me buy one. I'm not really in a position to pay $80-$90 for a copy (Amazon marketplace) or (gasp - choke) $200 (eBay). Are there any plans to release another printing, or an e-book edition? (a lot of people complain about ebooks, but they never sell out ;-D )
Thanks, and all the best with your secret project!

The thing that always amazes me is that something that can seem like a disaster in your life (something you view as a bad decision, or losing a job, or fill in the blank bad thing), when you look back, you see has changed your path. It's diverted you from where you thoyught you were going, sometimes in ways that horrified you at the time, and then more and more you find that you're in a good, great, amazing place ;-D
Wil, I saw this happening to you over the course of the events in your books which I just recently finished reading. I am so pleased to see this post, and that you are doing all the things you love. Thank you for sharing your joy!
in which i have a realization, and i am grateful
In the precious few moments I had today between work-related responsibilities, I stopped into my comic shop, and I saw this: I made this! I've been so busy, and I finished my part of this project so long ago, I wasn't prepared for how proud and excited I was when I saw a book that I had wr...
A couple of interesting books I recently downloaded, looking forward to diving in. I don't know if they make sense here. I don't design games, just love them, and who isn't interested in fun? Well, my sister, but who else?

More from behind the scenes at Tabletop
In my gaming group, I am not the guy who is good at explaining rules (that guy would be Tom D., when he plays with us, or my friend Cal M., the rest of the time) so the part of Tabletop I was the most anxious about is that segment at the beginning of the show where I explain the rules of the gam...
