Still impressed that Mason cut all those vegetables himself. Must teach Joseph to wield a knife!

Totally stealing this! It would be a great thing to whip out at the park or playground when one kid is done and ready to go home but the other wants to stay.

We too have been having a great summer and have officially decided to continue Summer Unschool indefinitely!!! So thanks Eren for planting the seeds and thanks to the rest of you for sharing your experiences. Yesterday I took the kids to the Newark Museum where they decided to sketch some of their favorite pieces. Joseph, my 7YO, was quite distressed to learn that most of the pieces he had sketched were from an exhibit that is closing this Sunday. He actually started to erase them, and when I looked at the pages I realized why: In the corner of each page he'd drawn a little map/diagram of how to get back to his favorite pieces. Tonight we're going to meet some new friends at a game night and potluck hosted by a member of the local unschooling message board. http://campwolff.blogspot.com/

I clicked over to your blog from the NJ-Unschoolers group. Enjoying clicking around your blog. Welcome to the area! If this is the Turtle Back Zoo, it's right on the back of our neighborhood. We love it, and the kids (and I) were very excited about this new exhibit. Of course mow my 7 YO is obsessed with getting a budgie or two of his very own. He has elaborate plans for making his own aviary.

I try to remember to pull my good china out every once in a while, but I don't do it nearly enough. Thanks for the reminder.

Well worth the wait, Eren. So beautiful and moving. Thanks you for the perfect start to my morning. I look forward to your post re La Chureca. And I shared your post with a young cousin just getting ready to travel to Nicaragua for the first time.

I need to do this more! And she has a good eye. I think I like it better inside out (-: Great story and good reminder of how I should end more of my days!

Welcome back, Eren. I look forward to hearing more about your trip. I can only imagine the emotions you must be feeling. Rest, relax. You will know what to do with the experience in time. -Angela http://campwolff.blogspot.com/

Today was my son's last day of school, and it couldn't come soon enough. He's not been the happiest of campers these last few months. I created a new blog to help document our journey from traditional school to unschooling. I think my son is just a little bit excited to "get started." He's bubbling over with ideas for what he wants to do. http://campwolff.blogspot.com/2009/06/schools-out-for-ever.html

I love, LOVE making homemade bread. Every single part of it. And while I think the bread bags are beautiful ... having homemade bread go stale is not a problem we seem to have (-; I love the way you described the strength you feel making bread. I feel exactly the same way.

Oh, I'm looking forward to this more than you could know! It's been a tough couple of public school weeks around here, and with a favorite teacher going on maternity leave as of Friday ... well, it only promises to get better. Thanks so much for setting up this little group. Can't wait to dive in!

"It's what you choose to focus on...whether it be your camera or your heart." Thanks for that. I felt more inspired than inadequate reading the article and seeing the gorgeous pictures, but I must admit I don't mind seeing the "as is" picture of your craft room, either. (-; My sister and I have always used the self deprecating term "Arts and Crap Room" to describe our little creative spaces. When it seems more crap than art, I know it's time to get in there an clean up (easier said than done!).
