The season will ultimately depend on RT's development anyway... Fingers crossed...

I'm OK with the pick. Let's hope he's an impact player. Did you really get excited about drafting an LT (again)?

Who'd donate a stone for an in his prime Don Shula about now? Least we competed.

I don't think it's Cowher time yet. Something about the "coach who's done it before" worries me. See Mike Shanahan. If he's available... hire Jeff Fisher. He needs a change of pace... I think he's good. What do you guys think of him?

"The guy has been the dullest knife in the drawer since he got here. He really has a low football IQ, and he has beaten no one. The problem is ITS TOO LATE TO REALIZE THAT. Not a few of us have been screaming all year to sit his arse down--he DOESN'T GET IT!" ^^^^ I agree. Great post. He's slow afoot. Slow to makes decisions. And shows little heart or passion. Would you wanna be in a foxhole with him? Nor do his teammates. Big error for Big Tuna... oh, well... least he has a HOF rep. to live off (plus the owner's $$$). This is seriously bad now. Wonder if they'll fire the GM-coach? I see us getting one more year of this regime... before Ross declares it a lost cause. 1-7 at home sucks. I sense the Fins ain't the hottest ticket in town. Wouldn't want my bonus based on ticket sales.

"It just dawned on me: Chad Henne is JP Losman in disguise." Cept JP was a better scrambler.

Losses now to Bills, Browns and Leos at home. How would YOU like to be the VP MKT for this time and devise next year's ticket sales tactics. "OK... Let's promote the fact that we... had an undefeated season in 1972... and the game has passed us by since..."

I'm thinking of the Cat Steven's tune... "Miles from Nowhere" = this mess.

We already had the Cower equivalent (best available SB winning coach) in JJ. In hindsight... those years were OK. Xcept for some draft gaffs... he was OK.

"Team is playing hard today. Certainly doesn't look like Sparano has lost the team." We'll see. What we do know is they lost to Buff last week... are getting all they can handle today from Detroit... I think I can count on some quit before it's done.

Hmmm... Is that the current Lions or 66 Packers. We're playing? That's cool. We played the 1990s Bills last week. A long and sick joke. Watched the Parcells bio on the NFL network yesterday. Looks like MIA is the only place he didn't succeed.

"Franchise Ronnie and trade him to a team that is willing to give up a 2nd round pick to sign him," I doubt RB is worth anything more than a 4th-5th round pick. Have you watched him run this season?

Anyone have a link? This isn't on where I live. thanks,

Bad situation. Penne is efficient but not taking the team anywhere. More painful is Henne. He's S L O W... in terms of reading defenses and pocket movement. Perhaps would have been better to pick Matt Ice. He looks good for ATL. Here's the point... football is a team game, sure. But one member of the team, the QB, is more critical than others. Have a good QB and you'll win. Have a stiff, and, well... see where we're at.

"We match up well everywhere else" vs. Pitt I think Pitt's LBs vs. our OL = duck Chad... I think our DL + LBs vs. their running game = trouble. I think Dick LeBeau vs. Henning = issues for aqua/orange. I hope I'm wrong... but Pitt is more physical and has more and better playmakers. Remember what happened last time? Bet Henne and Pat White still do. Both were KO'd that day.

I've been reading that about Odrick too... That would be out character, wouldn't it? No worries. I've been impressed with that Baker #90 at DE... NOT.

"Anyway, we have similarities to the 1970 team," Maybe... but a long, long way to go... I think the Dolphins of that era were better on the interior O-line... (Little, Langer, Kooch). Currently we have Curly, Larry and Moe manning the GCG spots (I'll give Jerry a pass cause he's a rookie). The safeties on that team were better too... as was the D-line and LBs... Oh yeah, the coaching... I'll take Shula and Bill Arnsparger over our "cheerleader in Ray-Bans" and Mike Nolan (who's dad Dick coached in the 70s and wore great suits). The safeties on the 1970s teams

This is a disfunctional organization that suffers huge mental and organizational blunders every week. Yes. Agreed. Painful but I agree.

SO YOU SEE GUYS THE UNSPECIAL TEAMS WERE INDEED PRETTY SPECIAL TODAY!!! I was in and out while watching... didn't another punt get tipped? Or is that just an everyday happening these days ?

Does anyone have any insight into John Jerry? What type of illness is "undisclosed?" Does he suffer from a mood disorder/mental health issue? (society deals well with that... NOT). Something else? Hope he's not ill ... he's young for issues (cancer, etc.).

Hey Emo... sounds like you have deeper Dolphin scars than even me... good on you. I agree with your doubts re. this team. MIA beat Bills = 2 win team; Vikes = 6 win team; beaten up pack (not the '66 Pack). I think the coaches are in over the heads long term. That said... feel better to win today than loose.

As for Henne... it's still wait and see, IMO. I wouldn't bench him. I worry about his pocket presence and I'm a fan of a QB with a little more mobility... that's jut me though... I am hoping to see a bit more from the fins this week. I thought the last lost exposed some real issues... both coaching and personnel. No. It ain't Vince Lombardi or Don Shula ranting on the sideline for us behind those Ray-Bans... Team is still a few players away from being elite... LB, Safety, OL, TE... perhaps even RB.

Hey Odinseye... I liked your Kumerow story... thanks for sharing. Yes. He was a bust. To torture yourself... it's fun to go through old drafts and imagine who Miami could have and should have picked. If, in 1988, they picked Thurman Thomas instead of Kumerow... perhaps things would have been really different... In 1987 they picked John Bosa. IMO... he was more than OK and coming on as a player... but knee injuries finished him. Most people disagree with me on that point however. Peace.

Very good blog topic, Mando. Thanks. I think it was a noble gesture on Westhoff's part... If you've ever lost a job... wouldn't you want to hear from a leader in your industry to discuss the "next steps"? Not to point anyone away from this great blog... but check out column on Parcells... I guess in the excitement of Parcell's coming... everyone forgot that he had never been and "executive" before. The old coach... who hasn't won a Super since 1990... flopped. Who's next... we burned through JJ, Nicktator and Parcells. We tried the no-name route (Cam C.)... IMO too bad Nicktator was a charlatan... I think he has the goods when it comes to coaching.

One area of concern is the running game... I think it's fallen off compared to last year. I wonder if choosing Berger over Grove was an error? I believe a good run game begin in the middle. Good from a dollars point of view... but the running game this year blows. Grove wasn't Dwight Stephenson... but I thought he was OK. Your thoughts?
