Thanks Steve, Maureen, Shawn for your kind comments. Steve, how was your Blues Festival? Santana and Joan Armatrading - now THERE'S a religious experience.

Hi Steve, great to hear from you. The ducklings were a surprise to me too! I have often wondered what Xmas must be like in that kind of heat - surreal. Spoke to a dear friend in Queensland on Xmas morning...might visit one of these days though I never get further than London normally. All the best Steve, for the holidays and the coming year.

Hi Sonora, thanks for your comment - wow, memory lane for me too for this 2009 post. I liked your word picture of summer joys in Orgiva. I am a champion 'quejica' or moaner about summer heat, and it is good to remember that there is also much charm in an Alpujarran summer. We are in Las Barreras now, and moving to Malaga city centre in September. Who knows what new joys await us! All the best, thanks for reading. Arpy
Dear Maureen, thanks for your comment as ever. I do understand your thought about Spain not being an easy country to dream in, it is well said. Dreams here have to be tempered with all the stuff you know will happen - bureaucracy, misunderstandings, the big heat of summer. I hope you will be able to realise some of them though? By the way I would be happy to correspond via email if you wanted to supply your address. All the best and thanks again, Arpy

Hi Maureen, it's great to hear from you, in fact you inspired me to beat the big heat and write another post! I hope you'll carry on adapting to summer routines and pleasures, keep me in touch with your ideas! All the best, Arpi

Hi Steve, great to hear from you. Send some freeze over our way and I'll send you some withering African winds to brighten your cold season! Thanks for reading and posting on the blog. We have a cunning plan to achieve more dissolution - we're moving to Malaga in the fall!
Thanks Leftbanker. You too might have discovered that carrying out dissolutions requires perseverance and steely resolve. Self-abnegation is much easier, but I will forge ahead. All the best for a bucolic 2012.

Dear Lori, here's a piece of virtual cake. Maybe next week - a virtual Hammam visit. Second thoughts, let's plan on the real thing! x

Helsbels - no hot water! We haven't had any in the kitchen for weeks either but then we tend to bathe in the bathroom so that's OK. Come and do a hammam next month when UK is REALLY miserable! x
Hi Leftbanker, thanks for your comments. Yup, callos is right up there (down there?) with oysters for me. And oysters are like The Beatles - everyone goes mad for them but when you really think about them... Anyway, happy eating, I'll try and find a new foodstuff to post about soon. All the best, Arpi

Hi Steve, I know, long time - but what with studies and other blogs I write, other jobs...I'll try to be more regular in future. Talking of which, your callos experiences sound dreadful! Sorry you didn't find the Head Camel (affectionate joke, Gym) in. I should say that these days she likes to make an appointment to be there. (+34) 669 741 059 is the number. Hope you get back here sometime! All the best, Arpi

Hola Raúl, it's such a nice surprise to hear from you and to know that you still follow this blog - I am honoured! I hope we can all have a drink together one day when you visit the Alpujarras! All the best to you and your girlfriend - that day in Málaga seems a long time ago...

Hi Laura, Thanks for your comment. It's true that when this region is bathed in sunshine, we never want to be anywhere else. Thanks for checking on updates, too. One of my 2011 solemn rezzies is to post more often! Kind regards, Arpy

Dear Lori, Ill send you the recipe - you make hundreds of fig tarts, sell them for exorbitant sums, then take a month off and come over. Sound like a plan? x Arpi
