Things change as you get older.. you see things differently you put up with a lot less... you know what you want out of life, friends, family so much more than you did in your 20's,30's, 40's... and you become a lot more true to yourself.. there is some carnage on the way don't get me wrong many people don't understand this particular journey they don't see the road you have travelled and the path that is before you That's fine too... because you are born alone and you die alone.. and the time in between is such a valuable... We have had a few photo shoots here at Greystanes so there is a nice documentation of changes to the home over the years we have been here... I mentioned the front room changes here Of course when you move into a new home even one thats been around for a very long time like this old lady has there are a few layers of colours, wallpapers etc that previous owners may well have loved however they don't always quite fit in with your own preferences... This room above the stairs for example looked like this just before we moved... Continue reading

I've been collecting Vintage Fabrics for a very long time... I had always intended to turn them into cushions quilts lampshades maybe even a dress.. but since the major car accident I was involved in last year things have changed I'm looking at things quite differently these days and moving in a different direction clearing the clutter if you will, in all aspects of my life... So I've opened up a new on-line website You can visit my website here - Time Worn Style - Specifically at this stage for my Vintage fabrics I've only just started and its only... Continue reading

You really don't I was tidying up my picture files on my computer and came across these old Real Estate photos of Greystanes before we became the new custodians... It reminded me of all the hard work we have done over the years about six years now.. removed that yellow tinged Laura Ashley wallpaper.. the ceiling fan the gold brassy light fittings repainted walls, ceilings, windows.. before... It looks a little different even now since this "after" photo was taken... I have all white slipcovers and there are a few less bits and bobs too.. before it was one very... Continue reading

Well it has been a while now since the magazine article came out in Country Style magazine February 2012 to be exact and the photos themselves were taken around three months before that.. Country style kindly sent me a disc of the photos which I promptly lost.. I spent a good three hours looking for them this afternoon My husband found them under the record player with all the CD's... don't ask me how it got there... My husband has a real knack for finding things I lose... anyhow.. when I look at the photos now I can't believe how... Continue reading

Years ago I loved everything pink and pretty you can see just how much if you scroll back to my older blog posts... It was a lovely stage in my decorating life but my taste has evolved to the slightly more "industrial" side these days... actually I don't even want to pigeon hole it I like what I like and I like mixing it up end of story.. I feel that I'm being a lot more true to myself these days in many aspects of my life, interior design included.. SO it with trembling fingers that I am letting the... Continue reading

Lucky for me one of my favourite flowers grows like a weed in our garden.. we have them all over the garden... fresh in green... crisp in white.. they do keep popping up in my photos... I love how their colours change over the seasons from summer brights to autumn tones.. I can't think of a better weed in the garden can you? I'm having a fabulous MAKE AN OFFER sale over at my ebay Australia store check it out.. Continue reading

I love making and photographing vignettes in this house.. probably because it takes the eye away from the wet towels dumped (again) on the floor by the teenagers who live here... distracts me from the pile of paper work on the table.. makes me look away from last nights dirty dishes in the sink.. makes me feel less guilty about not doing more "time" at my daughters primary school... takes me away from scrubbing those subway tiles in the bathroom.. averts my eye from the cyclone that is my teenagers bedroom.. takes me away from the super fan dangled budget... There's nothing I like more than foofing around the house one of the few things I find relaxing in a busy world I struggle to find time to sit down and read a magazine but a bit of house foofing, I'm onto it.. I found these gorgeous old dresses a while back at a fabulous online garage sale on facebook In a word they are - divine They have been used for a few photo shoots and I've photographed them all on their own too pastel pretty and unique.. perfect to include in some foofing... I'm keeping these because my... Continue reading

Follow my blog with Bloglovin Not sure if I have mentioned before.. but our bedroom has the most gorgeous Antique baltic french doors.. they open out on to the verandah and are oh so lovely for catching a breeze on a hot summers night... Unfortunately rather than celebrate the natural wood the previous owners took it upon themselves to STAIN it (not paint so I could strip it back) the most hideous shade of red stain the hardware chain sold... Clashing violently with the yellow cream architraves, it mocked us with its ugliness every time we entered the room.. Even... Continue reading

Anyone who has been following this blog of mine will understand that we are renovating on a budget... And what this means is quite simply things have to be bought for cheap... For example most things are a bit expensive brand new even items for inside the home... So when I saw this at an Op Shop (Thrift store) All I saw was the dome.. and the price tag.. $5 I mean have you seen how much they charge for these things brand new?? $$$$$$$$$$$$$ So... all I had to do was prize off the rather "interesting" resin sculpture.. paint... Yes I know what you mean, I found your comment quite annoying too... But I guess in the grand scheme of things, my use of apostrophes and your email well, they are not really worth worrying about. See that didn't take me long to work that one out at all :)

The summer light has been so lovely around here lately that I had to take a few photos around the house whilst the sun shone.. because this mud room area near the back door.. is normally not so brightly lit.. When we moved into Greystanes, this "through" room used to bounce... literally there were no stumps underneath the floorboards we noticed when we finally crawled under there.. not a one the joys of an old house... she has stumps holding up her wooden petticoats now though so we don't bounce through this room so much anymore.. Now we sit a... Continue reading

One day in January, I had a brainwave! I wanted to do a photo shoot. One that would involve a couple (as in two adults) who may or may not be getting married at a later time in the future…..what is known as an E-Shoot. With a vintage theme... Continue reading

I guess the start of a new year encourages this sort of thing.. I was having a chat with a dear friend the other day about the meaning of a "spring clean" It's not how it is these days with a quick whip around of the vacuum with the iphone in one hand sharing pics on instagram.. No A real sping clean involved moving all the furniture out onto the front lawn.. washing the curtains scrubbing the walls whumping the carpets on the clothes line So I decided this is what my showroom needed a good "Spring Clean" but in... Toggle Commented Jan 16, 2013 on Wall vents in old homes... at Time Worn Style
Funny you should say that about the bird feeder Suzanne! I havent put any seed in ours as yet as I dont want to encourage the Cockatoos down anytime soon as they can destroy woodwork on a house. May just use it as a candle holder in the meantime lol!!

You know those jobs around the home that you keep putting off?? The small ones.. Ones that even YOU don't notice need doing after a while.. that dodgy door handle.. the light socket hanging over so slightly from the wall.. (which reminds me we must do those too!!) Well we had a problem with old air vents.. When we moved in the previous owners thought we might not notice a reasonably large hole in the wall if they sticky taped a piece of paper over it.. In this case one of the old air vents on the wall had been... Continue reading
