Wow! I can't believe I slipped posting for 4 days. I did have some new experiences -- some I liked and some I didn't. First new experience was cornbread salad -- it was good. Since I didn't make it, I'm not sure how to describe it, but it had cornbread, sour cream, vegies but no letture. Next new experience was sitting in my back field watching the egrets swoop in and catch bugs. I was mowing the lawn and apparently stirring up delicious bugs. About 20 egrets started feasting. Was really kewl! I didn't panic and rush the dog to... Continue reading

My new experience for today was making (and eating) Pink Lemonade Cupcakes. mmmm.... they are as good as they sound. They're really for a 4th of July party we're going to tomorrow, but I had to taste them to make sure they were good! Continue reading

What perfect timing for 31 Days of Experiencing New Things. I recently decided I needed to get more outside interests. My "new thing" for Day One was a first visit with the physical therapist and exercises to do on my own (trying to get range of motion back in my arm). Day Two turned out a bit different than I planned. I spent the day doing something I haven't done in a while -- tapping my network for a new client. A call from a long-term client who is moving everything "in house" had me re-evaluating my day and brushing... Continue reading

I've procrastinated long enough on this. It's just "wishes" are so difficult. Hopes, dreams, etc are within grasp but WISHES seem so... sooo..?!?! I'm a "let's do it" and not waste time "wishing." After thinking about this for a few days I realize this comes from my upbringing. My grandmother used to tell us not to waste time wishing when you could be spending that time productively making things happen. hmmm...my wish for today is going to be for some insight so I can figure out how to wish for the next 29 days. Continue reading

This week I got a bit behind in my thankfulness posting. This year has been full of challenges for our family but I still have a lot to be thankful for -- like this project. Some days I really had to think -- much harder than I feel I should have -- about what I was thankful for. On those droopy diaper days when I just wanted to pull the covers over my head and bury myself in bed, I found it very helpful to focus on being thankful. Being thankful has helped me march ahead with a realization that... Continue reading

I am thankful for my entire family, but especially thankful today for my mother and my sister. They both have consistently been a part of my life. I know that I can count on them no matter what. We don't have to agree about everything -- but heck, that's what makes us unique. Thanks! Continue reading

I'm thankful that my cousin in TX, who I hadn't heard from in eons contact me out of the blue. It was a nice surprise. I'm sure it wasn't easy after all this time, but I'm glad he did. I'm looking forward to getting to know him again and his family -- with the help of the Internet. Continue reading

Tonight I am so thankful for the positive attitude of my Oncologist, his entire staff, and the people who get treatment there. They make everything seem possible -- and I know with the right attitude it is! It's so good to have such happy people around. Continue reading

I am so thankful that my dad installed a ceiling fan in my office last spring. Man I don't think I'd have made it through this summer without it. My office faces the west and even now it's 79 in here. Ahhh... but that nice fan breeze! Continue reading

I am thankful that we are able to pay our bills and live comfortably. It's very scary to talk with people who have lost everything over the past year knowing how easily it could be us. I'm happy that we are able to keep our heads above water. Even if some days we are dog paddling! Continue reading

Today, I am so thankful that i live in a small town. We had to travel to Tampa today. I saw more cars in one day than I normally do in a week. Whew! I like the slower pace, friendly people, and open spaces. Continue reading

I'm thankful for my dishwasher. I do so love to cook, but I really dislike hand-washing dishes. (I don't feel they get as clean as they do in the dishwasher. I know my hands can't stand dishwasher HOT water -- even with gloves.) So the dishwasher enables me to fix great meals without the pain of cleaning up. <G> Continue reading

I'm doing two days today, because I never even turned on the computer yesterday! First, I'm thankful for the sales woman at Dillard's who gave me realistic and honest opinions about the clothes I tried on. She even made a few suggestions -- one of which I really liked. I'm also thankful, today and every day, for my husband. I know this summer/fall hasn't been easy for him. I appreciate his sense of humor and protectiveness. He makes it easy for me to be strong and positive. Continue reading

I am thankful for the patient nice people who work for the UPS Store in Gainesville. They are so patient with me every time I come in and ask them to check my box because a month ago I misplaced my key. (Now I KNOW it's SOMEWHERE so I'm not ready to give in and get another one.) When I walk in the door they keep smiling and get my mail for me and are just as cheerful as can be. I do appreciate them! Continue reading

Today I'm so thankful for Technology. More specifically, for the technology that let's us stay connected with each other even though we're thousands of miles apart. For me the internet, email, Facebook, and CaringBridge have all be so valuable this past year. I've been able to stay in touch and keep people updated in a way that everyone can access. (Well everyone with Internet.) Right now, my cousin's husband is in for a quad by-pass. Their daughter is keeping everyone up-to-date on progress via her cell phone and Facebook. How nice to know almost instantly what's going on! Continue reading

I am so thankful for warm fuzzy socks. I love slipping a pair on when it gets cold. It's almost as good as being barefoot. Normally I avoid all foot coverings, but this is the one exception. When the cool weather arrives, I whip out a favorite pair and slip them on. Each year for Christmas, my husband purchases several new pairs for me, so they always have the new fuzzy soft sock feel! Today I am thankful for medicine. Normally, I stay away from all types of pills, vitamins, etc, but today, I am grateful for them. The past two days, I've been feeling a little icky and this morning was feeling bad. I whipped out the handy guide my Oncologist gave me and took the recommended medicines and am starting to feel like I can function again (without the queasy feeling). Wahooo.. for medicine, doctors, and researchers! Continue reading

Today I am most thankful for peace and quiet. I spent a good portion of the day just puttering around. Doing only things that felt right. I needed the time and space to just wind down and think. It was a chaotic week! Continue reading

Today was a VERY trying day, but there still were plenty of things to be thankful for. I'm thankful that we made the decision to buy 5 acres and move to the country. It's so peaceful sitting on my back porch listening to the bird in the morning. One particular sparrow has made his nest on our porch every year since we've been here. I'm also thankful for the people around us. It's uplifting to see neighbors lending a hand to neighbors -- even if they aren't close friends -- because it's the right things to do. I'm thankful for... Continue reading
