I searched high and low last winter at antique shops for old Christmas blubs -- I wanted to make one wreath for me -- but I guess I got carried away, because I'm still making wreathes with my finds. Continue reading

I folded some books to make Christmas trees, adorned them with old Christmas picks and glued each to old glass punch cups or other thrift store finds for trunks. Continue reading

I love to browse my local thrift stores and I found a bunch of old books that I folded to make stands for my art. I made prints of my original art pieces and wadded them up to create lots of texture. Each is mounted, hand signed and sealed. Continue reading

I decided to start a project with a piece of black wool that was left from another project. I cut out my circles and then started placing them on the black wool. This is how the quilt started out. Continue reading

I took a wonderful trip to Scotland in June and discovered these precious sheep on the hillside in the Highlands. Wonder if some of my wool projects started out on these hills? Continue reading

I've lived in my house for 10 years and have never seen a bluebird - until now. This little beauty looks like she's picked this house in my birdhouse garden. She hung around long enough for me to go inside for my camera. I hope she hangs around all spring... Continue reading

I'm addicted to upcycling. I get so excited visiting my local thrift stores looking for new finds. Now that spring is here, my hunt for wool for my pins will have to be put on hold. I have collected quite a stash since last fall. It's so easy to take... Continue reading

I completed painting on an old door. It's a guardian angel which I want to hang in the vaulted area above a 10 foot ledge where I have displayed antiques from my childhood that I inherited. Continue reading

We found a robin's nest tucked up in the corner of our front porch this summer. I could spy on her and her new babies from the upper windows in my front door. She made it very difficult for my visitors -- she would "dive bomb" anyone who appeared on... Continue reading

I published this little book in 2006, the year my Mother's determined fight against carcinoid cancer ended. This was my first little keepsake cookbook, a tribute to my Mother and her mother, lovingly called Moma and Nana. I have fond memories of holidays and birthdays and just old regular days... It's 4th of July weekend in Yorktown, Virginia! We're ready for the weekend at my house -- it gives me an opportunity to play with my dishes and decorate with my Americana. Yorktown is most famous as the site of the surrender of General Cornwallis to General George Washington in... Continue reading

I've been out hunting for Yorktown onions and have captured some with my new camera. The Yorktown onion is aptly named since in the USA it is native only to York County, Virginia. Found originally in South Russia, it was introduced into England in the sixteenth century. From there, it... Continue reading
