I know this will be too little too late, but -- just in case you (or any other readers) find yourself making pies for one of the other holidays this season)... Instead of buying all those spices that the recipe calls for, you can get all of them together in one jar called "Pumpkin Pie Spice" already mixed in the correct proportions. Then, add up all the individual amounts of the 4 spices in the recipe, and just use that much Pumpkin Pie Spice. Of course, in my house, my mother always taught me to double that amount, and it is always a crowd pleaser! Of course, as others have pointed out above, that would have ruined your story, and it was worth the price of admission (LMAO)! And, as also pointed out above, it is the reason I love reading your blog!
