This winter, and in cooperation with digital agency Spark Interact from Sydney, I developed a visual identity for a new Australian shoe retail business. Natural Fit Footwear specialises in athleisure and comfort inspired footwear and opened the first store today, with more to come. The brief I received from the agency was very precise, developing the visual identity from it was straightforward. Natural Fit Footwear stands for modern and high quality shoe brands, for high expertise and innovative solutions in shoe retailing and for professional and friendly customer service. The visual identity needed to communicate this. It was also important... Continue reading

Recently a friend from Dresden, Germany, contacted me for a logo for her brand new cheesecake catering start-up. She has a bit of a thing for everything British (think: Downton Abbey, Jane Austen) and wanted the logo to reflect this. Of course I said yes, as I admire her dedication, love and passion she puts into making her dream come true. For the time being she sells her cakes at markets, streetfoodfestivals and also takes orders for bespoke cakes, but I'm sure her cakes (which are not just cheesecakes and far too many to show here) will become famous very... It's been a long summer with incredible hot days, a bit of time out and quite a lot of work. I will publish some of it over the next days. End of 2016 we finalised the third survey for Gratex International. Continuing in the same design style from previous years, the visual theme in 2016 was 'golf' (after sailing and motorsport in '14 and '15) , to lighten up the text and graph heavy pages. As in previous years the survey was very well received by the industry. Greenpeace Worksheets. A nice little project, designing worksheets utilised by GP to... Continue reading

In 2009 I designed a new visual identity for Dimos Lawyers, Melbourne. Now, after 7 years, it was time again for some changes. Although the 2009 branding was not really outdated, the firm had moved forward in the meantime and needed a refreshed visual identity to reflect it. The move into new premises this Spring was the perfect time to introduce the updated logo and collaterals. To me it was important to make noticeable but not too drastic changes. A simple, elegant and uncluttered design, including a sans serif font and mainly black and white designs, delivers the clean and... Continue reading

My-First-School is an Australian charity, founded by Sydney photographer Andrea Francolini, who has a keen interest in Pakistan’s diverse society. Away from the struggles reported by the media, Pakistani people are open, friendly and family-oriented but face serious challenges in everyday life just to make ends meet. Andrea’s goal is to help families in North Pakistan to send their children to school for a basic education which then allows them to get more out of life. Since 2009, My-First-School has achieved some really wonderful milestones  —  from supplying basic building materials, to electrical work and plumbing, and even building desks... Continue reading

The German-Australian Business Women Association (GABWA), founded in May 2015, is a professional network for German and german-speaking women in Australia. The new logo, developed in cooperation with a committee from GABWA, represents the objectives and purpose of the group: working together, helping each other, moving forward. The silhouettes underline the feminine aspect of the group, the colours bring in the German aspect without showing the actual flag, while red and yellow represent the Australian sun and earth. One of my clients and friends, a psychologist, approached me with a request for a new visual identity. Recently we finalised Stage 1: a new logo, new business cards and new social media pages. The logo consists of four elements - the circles, the name, the gradient and the services. How they are positioned later depends on the media. Parallel we created new promotional material and new window signage for her clinic, which is keeping it's own visual identity. Continue reading

Two friends of mine, Sonja and Jakob, are setting off for quite a challenge at the end of this year: A 660km hike across the Australian Alps, from Walhalla, VIC to Tharwa in the ACT (for European readers: that's the distance from Munich to Florence, including the European Alps). That means: 8 weeks of hiking, of probably not seeing any other human being for 8 weeks other than each other (that's kind of a challenge in itself...), covering heights up to 2300m, in sun, snow and storm, all this in one of the remotest areas of Australia. No bus stops,... Continue reading
