I'm using three of my favorite retiring products for the SUO Challenge...Retiring Stampin' Up! products...to create a very simple card. The flower image is from the Just Believe stamp set. I remember when this set first came out...I KNEW from the beginning it was one stamp set I just HAD to have and purchased it first thing!! I've used it to create many cards, and am sad that it is leaving. Another stamp set I used for this card is the Curly Cute sentiment stamp set. This was another set I purchased as soon as it was available and have... Continue reading

This time around the SUO Challenge has assigned the task of "butterflies". Well, in our part of the country, where spring and summer seems ever elusive this year, it may be awhile before we see REAL butterflies. However, butterflies are a favorite of mine, so I like to include them on many of my projects. Here's my card for this challenge: This is a very simple card, and I created it in honor of the retiring BaJa Breeze color (which I will very much miss!). Midnight Muse is an excellent color to pair BaJa Breeze with, as I did here.... Continue reading

Yes, when I use my Big Shot, I usually create texture and embellishments for cards. However, for the SUO Challenge of "Anything Sizzix" I decided I wanted to create a 3-D item. This project went together in a snap, and I think it would be a cute item to use at a wedding or baby shower. I'm imagining it filled with candies for each guest. There is NO stamping on this project...and only uses two Big Shot accessories: Perfect Pennants Bigz L and Scallop Square Bigz Clear. There was one other tool I used and that was the Scallop Edge... The challenge this time at Stampin' Up! Only Challenges was to create a monochromatic project. This was a simple challenge for me to do because I seem to gravitate towards monochromatic colors for my projects. Here's what I created for this challenge: Of course, my color of choice was blue, specifically Pool Party. I absolutely LOVE this piece of designer paper from the Comfort Cafe paper set. It has such depth and motion!! Other Stampin' Up! products that I used were: Blooming with Kindness stamp set, Thoughts and Prayers stamp set (sentiment), 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon (Pool Party), Extra Large Oval... Continue reading

Stampin' Up! announced a "color refresh" for their upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalog. Here's a chart that shows all the specifics: The color refresh will involve 10 colors...ten current colors will be retiring and ten new colors will be added to the color collections. Most of the "new" colors aren't actually new, but In-Colors making that are making a return. And, some colors will be shifted from one collection to another. Here's a video that discusses all the changes. Personally, there are some of my favorites that are retiring, and I will be sad to see them leave. However, change is... Continue reading

I really must apologize for my inconsistent blogging lately. I have several "big" things going on in my non-blog life that are taking quite a bit of my time lately. But, I do try to get back to blogging when I can. Thanks for understanding. Last month, in my newsletter, I shared a technique I came across on Pintrest called "ghosting". Then, I shared another project using the same technique in this post. Today, I have one more card that I created using the same technique. I discovered that ghosting works best with a lighter color designer paper and darker... Continue reading

STAMPIN' UP! just announced that Watercolor Pencils and Crayons will be discontinued. Here's the scoop. Due to unforeseen problems with our supplier for Watercolor Wonder Crayons and Watercolor Pencils, Stampin' Up! has decided to discontinue these two products. Watercolor Pencils (item 101879) and Watercolor Wonder Crayons Brights Collection (item 119804), will no longer be available, effective immediately. Now for the good news! The remaining collections of the Watercolor Wonder Crayons are still available to order. The Subtles (item 119802), Neutrals (item 119805), and Regals (item 119803) Collections are only available while supplies last. Get 'em before they're gone! I'd suggest... Continue reading

We were challenged to celebrate spring, and I decided to answer the challenge with a "quilt-type" card from an idea I found on Pintrest. I LOVE the Sunshine and Sprinkles designer paper pack, and all the papers sure do remind me of spring, so that's what I chose to create the squares for this card. I added the butterfiles (Bitty Butterfly punch) in coordinating colors, because they too remind me of the coming spring!! Sentiment is from the Friendly Phrases stamp set. I also used the Fancy Fan embossing folder to give it a "quilt-like" look. Make sure to check... Continue reading

In my March newsletter, I shared a technique called the "Ghosting Technique." The technique is not original with me, but something I came across on Pintrest. However, the card I created is one of my own design. I put together a video of the technique, which you can watch below: Every month I send out an email newsletter to my customers. If you are interested in being on my mailing list, simply fill out the sign up box in my right sidebar. Thanks for stopping and have fun stampin' it up! Continue reading

Today's the calendar day of spring's arrival. However, you sure wouldn't know that by looking outside here. We woke up to a temperature of 1 degree above zero here in Minnesota, and a cold wind has been blowing for two days now!! I know that actual spring will someday catch up to calendar spring, but I'm ready for green grass and flowers NOW!! This week, I've been posting projects made with Sale-A-Bration products and today is no exception. I used the Sycamore Street designer paper and Petite Pennnants Builder Punch to create banners for this card. Sentiment is from Sassy... Continue reading

Don't miss out!!! The opportunity to earn FREE Sale-A-Bration products with each $50 purchase ends this Friday. If you haven't already taken advantage of Sale-A-Bration, there's not much time left. The card I'm sharing today uses two Sale-A-Bration products and is quick to put together. I used the Pretty Petites stamp set for the sentiment, and punched it with the Petite Curly Label punch (which coordinates perfectly with the size of the stamped label). Because the stamped images are so small, they "show" better when layered on a larger image. To create my larger image, I punched a 1" Whisper... Continue reading

As I mentioned yesterday, today I'd be sharing another project I created using Stampin' Up's! new Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set. This stamp set is GREAT to use for customizing cards and projects!! Here's something I created to give to my son and his girlfriend for Easter. (I'm planning to fill them with M & M's.) Along with the project, I also promised a review of the new Photopolymer stamp set. Photopolymer stamps are the NEWEST Stampin' Up! product and they are completely clear, allowing for perfect placement on your project. The stamps are extremely sticky, allowing them to cling... With Easter just a couple weeks away, the SUO Challenge is to create an Easter card or project. I decided to try the new clear Designer Typeset PhotoPolymer stamps from Stampin' Up! and here's what I created. The stamps were fun to use, and a great way to customize your cards and projects. The Easter basket image is from the Spring Sampler stamp set and colored with markers. Now it's your turn to share an Easter project with SUO Challenges. Stop back tomorrow as I'll be sharing another project using the Designer Typeset Photopolymer stamp set, as well as a... Continue reading

Here's a fun card made with the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Pretty Petites (and Tangerine Tango from the Sycamore Street ribbon and button pack). The card certainly has LOTS of texture and I love the bright colors! Today is March 10...which means there are only 12 days left of Sale-A-Bration. If haven't already ordered, don't delay and miss out on the great products available! Shop my online store here. Thanks for visiting and have fun stampin' it up! Continue reading

That's right...school was canceled today because of the 6"-10" of snow we receieved in our most recent snowstorm. That means a day off work for me...and a day of working around the house. Thought I'd take a break though and share a card project. Sometimes I just have fun "playing" with shapes and paper. This is a result of one of those playtimes. There is NO STAMPING on this card, although it would be very easy to attach a sentiment. When I was creating this card, I was focusing on using the shapes. One improvement that I might make to... I'm hosting a drop-in event this evening for those customers who live nearby and here's the project available for them to create. Around Christmas time I created some of these to sell at the craft fairs that I participated in. The response was so positive, I decided to update to spring colors and give my customers a chance to create them as well. Drop by my home today, from 3pm to 7pm, and create some candy jars to give as gifts. The cost to create each jar is $1.50 and includes the Hershey Nuggets. Here's what's needed to create these... Yesterday I shared with you this project, which I had made for SUO Challenges. (See the post here.) In my post I mentioned that I had very little of the Gumball Green designer paper left, and I REALLY wanted to use it for this project. Today, I want to share with you how a little creative thinking on my part allowed me to use that paper on my project. When another image is mounted on background paper we don't see the part of background paper that is covered up. A while back, I shared with you a paper saving tip... Continue reading

The Stampin' Up! Only Challenge this time calls for a "Going Green" project. This time of year, minds naturally go toward St. Patrick's Day, but I decided to take a different road. My project came out of time spent creating for an upcoming event. I decided not to use this card for my event, but the project certainly fits this week's "Go Green" challenge. Yes, this is a CAS (clean and simple) card, but CAS doesn't need to be "boring". The splash of yellow makes the card pop, designer paper brings life to the card and dimensionals behind the image... I will sure miss the Stampin' Up! color Pool Party when it is no longer available. It is such a soothing color and the results leave me with a peaceful, calm feeling. Today's card was made using four Sale-A-Bration items: Madison Avenue stamp set, Sycamore Street designer paper, Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack and Pretty Petites stamp set. The card came about as a result of experimenting with two of the stamp images in the Madison Avenue stamp set and using some scrap paper from the Sycamore Street designer paper pack. This week I'm busy preparing my monthly newsletter... Continue reading

The Open Seas stamp set is a wonderful one to use for masculine cards. The card I'm sharing today uses that stamp set and is one that was offered last week at my "card buffet". It's simple to create as well. Color is Midnight Muse and here's a list of the other products used: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Chevron Embossing Folder, Ovals Collection Framelits, Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (for sentiment), Word Window punch, Comfort Cafe designer paper. Shop my online store to purchase any of the products used in today's card. Thanks for stopping. Have fun stampin' it... Continue reading
