Testing out TypePad for a bit to see if it would work as my blog. I'm already weary with the FB integration... Continue reading

Years ago when Wizards still had the awesome cool store near UW in Seattle (the one with the Tesla/Battletech pods!), there was a box just downstairs with a "take a few, leave a few" card rules. I never had much money, so I'd head down there during a sealed deck tournament. You'd be amazed how often a group of new players would try a sealed tourney, get fed up, and dump all their cards in the box. I collected a ton of great cards from there. But eventually, Wizards must have decided they couldn't afford people giving away so many cards, so they scrapped the box. I bought some boosters occasionally after that, but could never afford the arms race. I hate any game where the person who has the most money wins. So, I gave it up. If someone could come up with a game exactly like Magic were you didn't have to buy a ton of cards to play, I'd be into it... Then again, there's Munchkin, and that rocks!

That looks like the red X on Jorge Lorenzo's helmet (he's a MotoGP motorcycle racer!) Here's the best pic I could find quickly. http://www3.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/MotoGP+Of+Japan+Practice+8AyRbQG5dbNl.jpg

During last year's PAX, I was having breakfast in a local restaurant when I realized Jonathan Coulton was sitting down at the table across from me. I thought about saying hi, or just waiving, but his daughter was with him. I just don't like butting into peoples personal lives...

Well, those kids would never make it to 4 wheels. Isn't that the point?

Since taking MSF Basic Riders Course, I've always thought people should be forced to ride a motorcycle for a year before getting a car license... It would make them all better drivers... Also, I find I'm much more relaxed on the Bike and WAY more focused... Of course, I stay off the interstate and take curvy highways all the time, so that helps...

I was all like "What??? He didn't play Q!!!" till I saw the post by zegron... Now, I wonder what other subtle things I've missed over the years... I'd love to hear the pod cast for that comic...

No contest between you and Bruce. I love his movies, but there's no way he comes close to you on the Geek scale... And it is a geek contest :-P I'm thinking of picking up 4E, but I'm concerned about being forced to use miniatures. I feel like WotC is just trying to cash in by making them required... Still, it might be easier to get my wife to play using them :-P

Sigh... I loved the original idea of Heroes. I own the first season... But I was left wanting in Season 2 and stopped watching after 2 episodes of season 3. I think they just made the characters too powerful and the only thing they thought of to reign them in was to make them stupid... I had too many "But if they have this power, why did they do that? What they did was stupid!" moments... Anyway, I'd watch another episode or two if you were on :-P BTW, this isn't a dig on the actors. I think they do a wonderful job with what they are given, and I think they are all gifted. They just lost me with the writing and story line.

I also didn't get a sticker because I voted by mail last weekend. However, I did drive my wife to the poll this morning before taking her to work. I should have seen if they would have given me a sticker... Oh well... We got to the poll at about 15 minutes before they opened. There were about 10 people in front of us. By the time the polls opened, there were about 50 people behind us. My wife was the only one who brought her voter card, so she didn't have to figure out which district she lived in as it's printed on the card. She was the first to actually get to vote here. You should have seen the smile on her face as we left. That is a rare sight when heading to work :-)

I've already voted via absentee, but I'm thinking of making some sandwiches and cookies and maybe take some water bottles to the local polling place around 6 pm to see if any people waiting in long lines need anything...

I was thinking how I'd like to see more of your acting when I realized something... I had this long standing dream of seeing Jackie Chan and Jet Li together in a movie... It finally came true with "Forbidden Kingdom"... I think my new dream would be an awesome cheesy sci-fi flick staring Wil Wheaton and Bruce Campbell... If one came true, why can't another? :-P

I love reading... I've noticed an interesting phenomenon when I travel though... If I have a book with me, I don't have time to read. If I don't have a book with me, I've got time to read.

So, I discovered something about myself when I got to meet you on Sunday... You often write about how your mouth seems to have a mind of it's own when you meet people you admire... Well, I seem to have the opposite problem... Deer in headlights!!! I managed to ask for a shirt and book, and had two friends with me (one had his brain unstuck and took a pic with his iphone)... Any advice? I was so worried about not nerd-vomiting that I think my brain just shut off... Anyway, I'm reading Sunken Treasure and enjoying every word. And thanks for the pic. I look like a total goof ball, but my wife saw the pic and said "Look! He's doing The Rock eyebrow!!!"... http://picasaweb.google.com/beowuff/Stuff?authkey=J5SSJIYoT98#5241563057350067298 Thanks! beowuff

I'm totally keeping a copy of that picture on my computer... That's got to be one of the best "WTF" looks I've EVER seen... Actually, if you centered on your face, you could make an awesome shirt with the caption: Wil says... "WTF?!?"

@appleblossombeck You realize now that when I go to see Wil at PAX it's going to be very hard not to break out into "We're Off To See The Wizard"... I can see the skipping now...
