O K. I just never took Dre as a gangster and add to the fact that since day 1 he let it be known that he doesnt write his lyrics so........................... But yeah those lyrics were rapped by him.

Heh heh. I def see your point but I heard J Cash was really an outlaw.

Yeah D Tox is starting to be the equivalent of the new bike the boy in elementary school had at his uncle house that his mother said he couldnt bring outside yet.

Thank U!!!!!!

U never had to credible back in the day cuz folks focused on the music. Rhyming about stuff folks never had or never did is nothing new.

Dre never really professed to be a gangster. He wore all black with NWA but never really said or rhymed anything that would make me say he was trying to be a gangster.

He's not disloyal. These dudes are not sworn enemies for life. Nobody was hurt or lost their lives or even went to jail.

I wouldnt have even taken him serious. He must have some inside info that even Stephen A nor Chris B know about.

Folks forget that whenever a Black man does something positive it rarely makes the news. It kills me when I hear folks talk about what others should be doing charity wise. Only a fool would believe that some1 with his money does nothing for some community out there. Birdman pays too many taxes for his accountant to not make him do some charitable work for tax relief. I gaurantee he donates at least 50 G's a year to charity in some shape or form. I know some of yall gone say 50 G's is nothing with all the money he has but I ask when was the last time U gave some1 50 G's or better yet when was the last time some1 gave U 50 G's??????

I think he's being called soft for the constant apologies. Every other day he sayin something then apologizing so by now its like "here we go again".

Yeah I think him calling her a b*tch was the problem not him mentioning the situation.

Basicly.

I think folks would enjoy hip hop so much more if yall would be open minded and look for reasons to appreciate instead of reasons to dislike or discourage. There has been about 50 top 5 lists and this is the first time some1 paid homage to a transcending legend but yet it has to be pointed out that he is not a rapper. Live a little!!!!!!!

Huge point!

I see where he coming from though. If you follow hip hop from the 80's damn near every song did have a James Brown sample. His voice was all over the 80's and 90"s just as much as C Brown, Trey Songz and Rhi Rhi is now.

I remember seeing Gotti from way back. I just disagree with his sense of entitlement. like I say Def Jam is a major corparation now and they are lookin for a business man to head the company not a hustler or ome1 whos interested in making them a hip hop force again. They want some1 who is gonna make them money. I have confidence that Gotti can do the job but the way he is going about it is way off base.

Kind of. Cuz like U said it was the late 90s. Are U saying he should be given a job as a label head based on his success as basicly a manager 10 years ago? If Im hiring a president of a multimillion dollar operation Im def gonna want to se some crudentials from the present.

This is part of the problem right here. Folks forget that when Def Jam started they were THEE label of hip hop. Now there are a million labels so they have to compete as a business. But instead everyone is expecting them to represent for the culture. Thats not good business. As a business Jay Z was an excellent president. He brought in acts that made money. He brought in Nas and Jada which stregenthened their culture cred but they made no money compared to Rhi Rhi and Neo. Street music is excellent for the culture but it makes no money. The minute these artist and fans realize this they will have less problems with the industry. Its funny how a man who was once the head of a label that only had 2 successful acts(o k 2 and 1/2 counting LLoyd) is acting as if Def Jam is sh*tting on him for not hiring him. Hip hops biggest problem is entitlement. Folks believe that since they really sold drugs they should be given a deal and since they made one good business move they should be bosses 4ever.

I see where U coming from. I just think theres so much access to music now its hard to hear a classic album. Its not that they arent being made its just that now with the net its easy to get what you like and ignore the rest. I havent even hears LBs album but at the time of those classics you named I would have becuz it would have been 1 out of the 10 albums on the shelf . Now its only about 3 on the shelf but a million on the net so....................................................

WTT was def classic. The music on that was def top notch. I even think Drakes 1st joint was up there. Outside of that I get so much off of mixtapes and down loads that I dont get around to that many full albums. But like I say the music is out there.

I say the smaller local stations cuz they have D Js that are into music over profit. Thus you will hear a different rotation of songs exspesh by the underdogs.

Oh yeah U gotta get satilite radio also. They have good shows on their.

There are plenty of options today if u dont allow others to dictate your choices. U just have to ignore the b s and focus on what U like. U gotta listen to the local stations instead of the commercial stations. also stay away from the internet. This sh*t is so commercialy driven that a site that starts off one way can easily be flipped for a couple of $$$$$$. Also U gotta follow the old school dJs. If Biz Mark or Kid Capri is anywhere in the area u gotta hit that club up

It was just as much cornball rap then as it is now. More media and more independant labels are just pushing the wackness to the forefront. Also with the focus on sales it gives corny music that we laugh at credibility that it doesnt deserve. For example Whoomp ThereIt Is. Those cats knew they werent top rappers even though their single went plat. But now since media and fansfocus on sales a group like D4L think they deserve to be in the same breath as Jay Z cuz they sold just as much. Tag Team knew their place. They knew they had a catchy tune that got people dancing while D4L thinks that the people are are rocking to their music and since they are on an indy label they are given the money to try that sh*t again and whe they fail to produce a hit they think its cuz fans dont know good hip hop. Since D4L sold so many copies they think folks are riding around bumping their music as opposed to folks dancing in their living rooms or DJs playing it to see some booties shaking.
