This post made me so happy! If we still had our five acres we'd have a much bigger pack ourselves (we have two at home now and a cat). It got to be something of a joke. We had three of our own; the next door neighbor's dog would come play, sleep, snack with ours while they were at work; and an old man (we actually called him Old Man because we didn't know his name) wandered onto our property one July and stayed until he had to be put to rest. I miss the ones who aren't with us any more. Thanks for this; she's beautiful. Enjoy her!

Love the gif, thanks Wil! Today I saw a video parody you might enjoy, though sadly they didn't include any STNG clips. It still made me laugh out loud at work. :) http://tinyurl.com/7j8njce

Dang! The stuff you miss when you're recuperating from walking pneumonia! But it would have been so wrong to infect comicon! So I stayed home. You're welcome. And now I want a Bazinga! shirt :)

Now that I've had a chance to read it, I have to say I found it to be an excellent review. It meets my criteria in that it describes enough to let me know if I should explore the title further. And I agree with Mister Lizard - I really appreciated that you gave your opinions without dissing either author. Thanks!

Sorry for the O/T - I'm rushing like mad to get out the door to work (YES at 4:30 in the frickin' am!) but I saw today's Woot shirt and had to share it (in case you don't follow shirt.woot, which um would be silly of me to assume but there you go, it's 4:25 in the AM). I think it's a pretty safe bet you will like today's shirt Wil: http://shirt.woot.com/ Hope so. Back to your regularly scheduled programming! And have a nice day!

A blog or two as entertaining as this one to follow. (Yeah, I'm kissing up, but I get so much enjoyment here I couldn't resist!)

Thanks for sharing such a great moment Wil! This is why I follow your blog :) @ A.H. Klein - I understand. I never knew my biological father or his family. Through a succession of stepdads I learned by experience that men don't care for children who aren't theirs. I believed that for a long time, until I met my second husband and he helped raise the youngest of my four daughters. He was tough but he cared about her and she's a lovely young woman and one of my best friends now that she's grown. On the flip side though, I've seen many biological parents who don't care either. Very sad. Stories like Wil's give me hope though.

What a totally special moment! (Yes. Yes I DID say totally. Sue me.) Seriously, I too got the mysterious leaky emotional fluid. You have a wonderful family Wil. And the best part is that you TOTALLY know it! :D

Ditto what BRBCurry and Snarke said! I read every post but I comment only rarely. It would be lovely to have a witty response on cue but mostly I smile and nod and enjoy. Thanks for that Wil.

Ahh memories. I also spent some summers in the San Fernando Valley; we lived briefly with my maternal grandparents in what was then called Pacoima. Summers were divided between splashing through the lawn sprinkler, riding bicycles and the summer program run by Liggett Elementary. My love affair with books began in that school library which was open all summer. Thanks so much for the memory Wil!

Um Wil? When did you have time to learn Greek?

Yes more please! I so very much enjoy how you write Wil. And this was a nice peek behind the scenes - I missed it the first time around since I'm a relatively new reader.

Rats! Hubs doesn't dig the Facebook and has no presence there. Plus he would frown upon my inviting someone else (other than our daughters) on a date. Sigh.

This rocked, thanks for sharing Wil! Now off to share with my daughter and hubby!

I'm not a regular follower of The Guild but I may have to catch up so I'll be better positioned for the comic when it's out. And I LOVE that you sing Soft Kitty to your sweetie!

Hi Wil, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your blog. I only discovered it after seeing you collating paper for Jenny Lawson last year. However frequently or infrequently you post I look forward to reading. I especially like it when you post your fiction. I LOVED Just a Geek! I hope you don't mind, I posted a quote of yours at my desk: "But the point isn't to be perfect. The point is to get excited and make something creative." Thanks!
