Listen, I hate to be harsh on an artist I adore....(I really do) BUT if I'm going to be honest here (and I assume people want me to be).....Jamey Johnson was a total let down in concert. He didn't speak to the crowd (at all), and I've learned (through the Nashville grapevine) that the reason for that is he was too drunk to talk and afraid he'd say something he'd regret if he opened his mouth. Even his music was off, which confirms the drunk rumors. ah, it was sad! I have so much respect for Jamey as an artist,... Continue reading
I love the Steeldriver's, a country/bluegrass band based in Nashville, TN. I love Adele, she is amazing! I just had to post this cover song!!!! Continue reading
It's a girl – and a huge surprise! Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban revealed Monday that they are the parents of a baby girl, who was born via a surrogate. Faith Margaret Kidman Urban arrived Dec. 28 at Nashville's Centennial Women's Hospital. Faith was born through a gestational carrier and is the biological daughter of Kidman and Urban. "Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret," the family says in a statement. "No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive... Continue reading
Forget the fashion of the 2011 Golden Globes for a moment. This picture of Keith Urban and wife Nicole Kidman says it all . They both look so good in love. Continue reading
If you are anything like me, you HATE all this cold weather and snow that seems endless these days. You know its bad when you are on youtube and you find yourself watching promos for warm vacation spots. Well, I came across this song & thought I'd share with the readers of NashvilleGab. "Knee Deep" is off of Zac Brown Band's latest CD "You Get What You Give". Its a duet with Jimmy Buffet. I've liked it since I got the CD, but set to a beautiful (and warm) back drop like this, I like it even more. ENJOY!!! ~~Brandi... Continue reading
Tim McGraw's latest hit "Felt Good On My Lips" went #1 this week!!!!!!!! Continue reading
My husband and I had the chance to see Troy in Nashville this past summer. He did a really good live performance. I thought the readers of Nashville Gab may want to take a look at his latest release. ~~Brandi C. Continue reading
Nicole looks really drunk, or just really decide????? Continue reading
I'm truly at a loss for words with this one. I'll do my best :) I LOVE is that? Guess I should tell the readers of Nashville Gab why? I have very little respect for the airbrushed country stars we see today. Do I listen to their music? yea, do I dance around in my kitchen when its good? yea However, for me personally having respect for an artist and liking someone's music are two totally different things. When a band like The Zac Brown Band comes along I (along with people like me) get totally crazy because we... Continue reading
I'll start with a confession, I've never been a huge Kenny Chesney fan. Sorry :( but its true. So why did I go out and buy his album the first week it was released? I had read in the press release for his new album that part of his recent time off was spent looking for new music. He said "it felt like I was going through the motions, I wanted something new". Any time an artist like Kenny takes time off to recharge and find something new, I feel compelled to stop and take notice. Hemingway's Whiskey is my... Continue reading
I LOVE Bluegrass music, maybe not traditional Bluegrass, but Newgrass or Newgrass Revival (whatever it is they are calling it) is amazing. Dierks Bentley's latest release "Up On The Ridge" is a masterpiece of musical and vocal talent. The entire album speaks to his skill and respect for Bluegrass/Newgrass music. A few vocal appearances include Allison Krauss, Chris Stapleton, Jon Randall Stewart, Miranda Lambert, Jamey Johnson, Vince Gill, Del McCoury, Kris Kristofferson, & Sonya Isaacs. There are way too many musicans to list who appear on the album as well. Well, I'll mention one, Sam Bush, because he is amazing... Continue reading
Okay, so its a catchy little radio tune.....but its also an excuse to watch and listen to Keith. Who doesn't love that? Brandi C. Continue reading
Oct. 15th marked the 3rd annual Capitol Records Block Party. Since its been a few weeks ago (and more important "news" has taken place in recent weeks) I'll keep my thoughts brief with a short review of the performing artists. Jennette McCurdy was the first to perform. I hate to give a bad review, but alas, I must. Seriously, the last thing country music needs is another teen wanna be. Its like Capital Records looked at her and said, "we don't have Taylor or Miley, but she'll do" (direct quote from my husband, Brad, but I think he dead on).... Continue reading
Sometimes an artist comes along and makes everyone do a double take. That's how I felt the first time I listened to Jamey Johnson's, "High Cost of Livin" song from his last release, "Lonesome Song". He has this amazing ability that allows him to bare his soul in songwriting, and yet still pull off a great song, with a catch line. His latest release "The Guitar Song" proves my point. The songs are gut wrenching honest, authentic, and true country music. I don't get the impression that radio play or chart topping, bubble gum country was on his mind in... Continue reading
