Ugh. I absolutely HATE markdown.
I prefer UBB code instead. It is much easier to remember and use. Not to mention way cleaner and easier to implement.
The Future of Markdown
Markdown is a simple little humane markup language based on time-tested plain text conventions from the last 40 years of computing. Meaning, if you enter this… …you get this! Lightweight Markup Languages ============================ According to **Wikipedia**: > A [lightweight markup lan...
@Dleppik "CargoBot was written entirely with Codea, a Lua IDE for the iPad."
What you failed to mention is the fact that you still need a desktop pc (or laptop) in order to compile the program and upload it to the app store.
The PC is Over
MG Siegler writes: The PC is over. It will linger, but increasingly as a relic. I now dread using my computer. I want to use a tablet most of the time. And increasingly, I can. I want to use a smartphone all the rest of the time. And I do. The value in the desktop web is increasingly an ...
And, don't forget...
You can't build an iPad app with an iPad.

Portable devices such as tablets and smartphones are great for consuming web content. But, they are absolute crap for creating content.
I have an Ultrabook and absolutely love it.
The battery lasts a loooong time, it's super light, it has a large screen, a keyboard, multiple USB connectors, an SSD, wi-fi, and runs all of my Windows applications. I'm able to run Office, Visual Studio, Paint.NET, and SQL server.
You can give up your PC if you want. But, I'll be happy to keep mine.

Generally I find MP3s acceptable. But, there are some cases where they are really bad.
When I compare my MP3s of Sade to the actual CDs the CDs win out by a large margin. There's just something about the quality of her voice on the CD that doesn't translate to the MP3s.
The Great MP3 Bitrate Experiment
Lately I've been trying to rid my life of as many physical artifacts as possible. I'm with Merlin Mann on CDs: Although I'd extend that line of thinking to DVDs as well. The death of physical media has some definite downsides, but after owning certain movies once on VHS, then on DVD, and ...

Wil, are you going to be at the Star Trek con in Vegas this August, 2011? (I don't see any mention on your Tours and Appearances page.) My daughter and I will be attending and we would love to meet you.
HUNTER is in the Kindle Store for 99 cents
Project Kindle Store Get Books In has begun: I started with Hunter because it was already in .mobi format, and it's my most recent thing (it's still in pay-what-you-want-even-nothing format, incidentally.) Assuming the world doesn't implode around me, I'll get Sunken Treasure in the Kindle stor...
