Newspapers and magazines are dying, but blogs and news sites and Twitter and Facebook aren't enough to fill the space they're leaving. At Say Media, we're building the next generation of digital media. I thought I'd take a diversion from my usual tech blogging to share my perspective on what we're doing, and why I'm so excited for it. We know that traditional media -- newspapers and magazines and television and radio -- aren't keeping up with the wants and needs of an increasingly online and off-the-grid society. We know that those companies are seeing this trend, and they're trying...

Blog: Andre's Notes
[Andy mentioned something](https://twitter.com/waxpancake/status/152859753188560896) about Imgur’s most popular files based on views, so I figured I could find something for MLKSHK. So here are the top 20 files from this year based on number of likes received. Note that the first...

In 2008, my colleague Ray Marshall and I had the privilege of being able to demo TypePad's iPhone app onstage during the keynote of Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference. It was a career highlight for me, not only for the opportunity...

SAY Media has this tradition (I later learned that this was actually a national event of some sort) of welcoming employee's kids to work for a day, so of course I brought Maelys in, so that she understand a little...

OK, so I have some news to share with you. Today, April 22nd, is my last day at SAY Media. Including 2 years at SAKK and 4 years at Six Apart headquarters in 548 4th street, this has been an incredible venture and terrific experience for me to work with all of smart people on numerous exciting projects, but I figured it's time to move on. I should have a lot to write, but instead i'll dump some memorable pictures :) Man, that's a lot of memories. I'll send everyone a big hug and thank you for making my days at Six Apart/SAY so much fun! P.S. I'll take a quick vacation next week, and will start a new gig...

I have two big problems with these ridable Daleks from Zappies. First problem: they don't appear to come in adult size. Because, damn, I want to ride through the cube farm at work in one of these so hard. Second problem: they are advertised as "fully functional," and we all know that is bunk. Yes, they have the requisite organic material as the driving force, but I'm betting those lasers don't have the power to kill users who insist "I run a lot of the internet, I think I need more RAM." Third - THREE, I have three big problems...

So we had a number of options. She could take my name. Not down with that. Fair enough. I could take her name. No, thank you. Also fair. We could give the kid one name or the other. The odd...

Today is my last day at Six Apart. It's been 3.5 years with an outstandingly clever and humane group of unforgettable friends. I dedicate this Apperceptive/Six Apart-NYC montage to all of you. [WARNING] This is a long, photo-intensive, inside-joke-ridden post....

Two years to the week since my first day with Six Apart Services, Six Apart [announced](http://www.sixapart.com/blog/2010/09/say-hello.html) that we will be merging with [VideoEgg](http://videoegg.com) to create a new entity, [SAY Media](http://saymedia.com). Sadly, some of us won't be making the transition, including remote employees like myself. The last two years have been filled with challenges, moments of total WIN mixed with the...

I helped Walt make an HTML5 version of the TypePad stats chart, based on the canvas chart he'd already done for the TypePad web app on the iPhone, so now when I click to see my stats in Chrome (where I leave Flash disabled) I don't mistakenly think I get...

You don't go into a movie featuring Sylvester Stallone, Steve Austin, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and several other generic bags of testosterone and expect Oscar material, but you also don't expect 103 of the most misogynistic minutes since the extended cut of the Mel Gibson tapes. Stallone's female characters are limited to ass-slappers, torture victims, rape bait, or simply objects to be dragged helpless and unresisting through gun fights. I guess to be fair, there could have been one or two mowed down by Humvees. They got off luckiest. As writer and director, one can't help but wonder if Sylvester...
