A Personal Invitation to THE GREEN ROOM from event host Eric Bramlett
One of the aspects of the Green Room that I am looking forward to is the humor that will be interjected by one of the event hosts Eric Bramlett. Eric is one of the authors of the book The Big Idea and serves as the Creative Arts pastor at Community Christian Church. Here is a personal inviiat...
Well, okay then.
The dilemna when Social networking changes everything
So it used to be that I would get on this blog account here and "embed" a video or two from our church's youtube account, as a way to share with all my friends what's going on in the creative world of our church and my job. But now everything has changed. I have a very active facebook account ...
It's perfectly fine - this entire convo simply encourages me, knowing that our attenders are not inside the Christianese Bubble... living in the world but not of the world. Awesome.
David Crowder - Intentional Homage or Accident?
You be the judge... I'm kinda hoping it was intentional...
It is an old CCM reference - the top CD is a new cover design by David Crowder Band, which totally reminded me of the bottom LP, which is "the very best of the Imperials" which is an old school Christian Band. I was thinking with the title "Church Music" that David Crowder might be doing "throwback" cover on purpose. It's a "christian-bubble" kinda thing...

What if Heidi and Spencer were in the Old Testament?
This is the question we posed with this past weekend's parody video: A series video for our new series "The Real OT", where we look at various old testament characters through a modern lens to see what we can learn. Not sure how much learning is going on in this video, but it sure seems fun!
Ellie - check out youtube, and search season 8, top 9 - usually someone is posting the performances....
Nine at nine - American Idol Time
Here are my reactions to the Nine o' Nine - as always, before the judges say what they say. Bring it like you brought it, 'cause it's already been broughten! Anoop - "Caught Up" by Usher - More like PUsher. This is boring as heck. Megan - "Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Lauryn Hill - Back in the ...
Well played Robert, you are totally correct. It was the owners who were gay (at least one of them) - as masterfully portrayed by Mike Myers in the flick.

d.richa,
Adam has more range than Mandisa, I'm afraid. And a better manicure from what I remember.
Top Ten for American Idol
Alright, y'all - hold onto your wigs, it's Motown Night on American Idol! Here's my yammerings on the top ten, hopefully my review won't bore you... here come my comments before the judges do their things... Matt Giraud: "Let's Get It On" - Stepping away from the piano without his precious Coldp...
And that is why an open dialogue with you and your ilk is extremely challenging. By that definition, every interaction Jesus ever had was a "savior" met need, and the only ones qualified to elevate their encounters with the lost as "savior" equivalent are those with a God-complex. When Jesus spoke with Nicodemus, he was meeting his need as a Savior, when he rebuked the pharisees, he was also meeting their need as a savior. And somehow, all of it is also teaching. I wonder, are you meeting our needs for a savior by rebuking other believers in this way?
Are We Fashioning a Golden Calf to Give the People What They Want?
In response to our Sex for Sale series, Aaron commented... "The Church is called to preach Christ and Him crucified for YOU. A topic on sex is nothing but a marketing scheme or gimmick to attract a crowd. If the forgiveness of sins is not preached, then the Church is preaching "another" Gospe...
Jim, I would have to start with Zacchaeus. Jesus met his felt need: He needed a friend. He had lunch at his house. He wasn't 'teaching' him how to have lunch, he was meeting his friendship/community need. Later, Zacchaeus was convicted to action after getting to know Jesus. The Bible doesn't go into much detail about the words Jesus used to 'teach' Zacchaeus about that - I wonder if that's because the words weren't as important as the action.

Re-view of Re-concilosec
This past weekend we brought out a video from our vaults - sometimes the best idea you have is one that you already had. It's pretty rare that we re-use material, so I figured it wouldn't be the worst thing we could do, and I'm pretty convinced that Reconcilosec is one of the best videos we've e...

If TV title cards told the truth...
I actually watched Heroes last night, and was reminded of a picture I saw on a blog a while back - it was entitled "If TV title cards told the truth" - and this title card was for Heroes:
And what season was that again? And Claire did not die.

I never meant to suggest that there wasn't a time that Bill rules the DVR. I mean, the DVR is so closely connected to the remote control, which we all know is "guy" territory!
Trading Terminator for Heroes
So I can't get up the muster to watch Heroes in any kind of urgency. I still have one episode on my DVR with a new episode coming in tonight. Two years ago, that would never happen, we would watch with baited breath every Monday night and talk about it at our Arts Breakfast the next day (excep...

Feel the Love
Can you feel the love? I've been listed again on Dave Ferguson's blog, as a potential blogging adventure. I was listed last. But I'm not bitter. I was also listed for no apparent reason. But I'm not jealous of the others who were listed, and all their... adjectives, and descriptive sentences. So...
