Well said Wil.
Steve Jobs was an amazing guy. Our lives wouldn't be the same if it weren't for the amazing things he gave us. I will think about him when I use my iPod. I'm sad he is gone.
RIP Steve Jobs
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intu...
ROFLMAO ! As one of a legion of guys who wish they had a shot with Robin I loved your new scene.
I have heard the Ashley Judd won't sign Star Trek photo's. I hope it's not true I would love a signed Robin photo.
I am easily amused
So io9 did this thing called the 10 Suckiest Fake Video Games That People Play In Science Fiction. Spoiler Alert: The Game from, uh, The Game is number one. 1) Suckdisk from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Actually, we don’t remember this game having an actual name on the show, but “suckdisk” f...

Happy birthday. Sorry I am late. I have not checked the blog in a few days.
Spock is not impressed that it's my birthday
During w00tstock last week, I mentioned that I was turning 38 this week. After the show, Anne told me that I was, in fact, turning 39. In the few seconds that it took me to do some math, I lost a year of my life. Apparently, this is the sort of thing that happens when you get to be my age, which...
I am a long time reader. I have read this one before, but it was fun to read again. I like it as your July 4th tradition.
Because it's become a yearly tradition, here's a story about fireworks
I've written hundreds of thousands of words over the years, but this remains one of my all-time favorites, so I like to revisit it every year. It was originally written and published on July 5, 2002, which usually feels like years and days ago all at once, but this year actually feels like a lif...
Good News! I have been waiting for the e-version to reappear. I was given a Nook as a gift and was planning to buy it, but was surprised to see it taken down with the print version. I'm glad it's back up.
The Day After and Other Stories goes digital
tl;dr: The Day After And Other Stories is once again available for download. It's $4.99 at Lulu. Yay! In December of last year, I released a very short collection of very short stories for a very short time - just ten days, actually - as an experiment in releasing short fiction. It sold fai...
Great episode tonight! I first saw the show when you said you were going to be on it for your second time. Now I love the show and watch the episodes I missed on DVD. Thanks Wil. Better luck next time with Fringe. I love Fringe and it would be cool to see you on it.
hey, is there anything good on tv tonight?
Hey, did I mention that I'm on The Big Bang Theory tonight? I didn't? That's weird. I could have sworn that I did. Well, allow me to just put this gentle reminder out there: Evil Wil Wheaton returns in "The 21-Second Excitation" at 8pm on CBS. And now, another hopefully amusing video, to help yo...
Congratulations on the awesome dog. Life is better with a dog. I have a Golden Retriever. Enjoy your dog and post plenty of pictures!
To celebrate the legacy of our awesome dog
Last year Anne and I raised some money for the Pasadena Humane Society in memory of our awesome dog, Ferris. When I wrote about it here, Anne said: Just over 8 years ago, I made a right turn instead of a left out of the Home Depot parking lot. That was a turn that would change our lives forev...
Isn't it possible to use a proxy server to make a website think you are in the USA, so that you can watch USA only content? I haven't tried it yet myself, but I hear you have to be careful and find a safe proxy server because some of them can steal your passwords. Does anyone know more about this? If I get this to work I will let you know.
random thoughts from vancouver
I have a late call today, so I have some time to write. Yaaaaay. Here's a few things that have been on my mind in the last, oh, 36 hours or so. So that silly thing Paul and Storm and Adam and I did sort of took off, didn't it? I'm thrilled that so many people found it as entertaining and amusing...
Very cool.
at long last, a new version of star wars i can get excited about
Everything about this is just beautiful. I highly recommend watching it full screen, but for the lazy or whatever, here's an embed: (via Geekosystem)
Great show tonight. Good job Wil!
The Wheaton Recurrence
It's Sunday afternoon as I write this. I can't publish this manually, because if I've read my call sheet correctly, I'm currently playing Dr. Isaac Parrish on Eureka. If we're on schedule, I'm working in a scene with Erica, Colin, and Neil. If my experience on the show so far is any indication, ...
That was fucking hilarious! I'm going to watch that fucking piece of shit again!
I love the Onion so much, I want to marry it.
My friend Aaron just sent me this. I believe this represents the shortest amount of time between me getting something hilarious via e-mail and posting it to my blog: Sony Releases New Stupid Piece Of Shit That Doesn't Fucking Work
Hey Wil, I'm sorry you are not feeling well. Take it easy and get well soon.
collecting random thoughts
My brain has a lot of random thoughts it wants to spit out before it'll give me access to the creative areas. I keep trying to tell it that I'm the cat, but it insists on occupying my mind with further duties to control my SPACE MADNESS!!! Prepare to surge to sublight speed: I've been keeping a ...
Hey Wil Good luck with the heroes audition. You aren't going to screw up this time. We believe in you. I don't watch Heroes, but then again I don't watch criminal minds either, so it goes without saying that I will tune in to see you.
As far as thinking about what to write about; you have a gazillion fans who know a lot about you. Maybe we can suggest topics for columns, or is that a horrible idea? I just thought it sounded like a fun challenge.
In which wil goes "O_o" but retains his grip on reality
I thought I'd completed this week's LA Daily column on Friday, but when I opened it up yesterday afternoon to give it one final look, I realized that it didn't work at all. It's fine for a blog post (and will likely show up here sooner or later) but it just doesn't work as a column. As you can i...
I would like to add my own Thank You to the veterans. It is nice to see so many veterans read this blog. Every year at the California State Fair my family signs the giant banner for "Operation Postcard" I think they call it. I seem to have writer's block like Wil and just write Thank You for your service and sign my name. Veterans really know what the old saying "Freedom isn't free" means. We can't thank you all enough. My flag is up.
to all who are serving or who have served . . .
I've struggled to put some eloquent words together all day, and I just can't make them work, so I'm just going to take the three that were important to me and put them down now: thank you, veterans.
WooHoo ! I am sure happy Barack won. His acceptance speech was incredible.
I am also just glad that the election has now come and gone. Like many people I am sick of the campaigns dominating the news.
Now America has to come together in order to get this country back on track.
YES WE DID
I just called Ryan at school and told him to look around, because he'll want to remember where he was when Barack Obama was elected president. I'm too giddy and relieved for deep thoughts, and there's a bottle of champagne that Anne and I have been waiting to open for a long time, so I'll jus...
Thanks for this cool post. I will register tomorrow for a fiction writing class. I just had an idea today for what my first short stories might be about and got excited about beginning. Maybe they will be good enough to put online someday.
in which wil attempts to collect all his writing resources into one post
I'm not doing NaNoWiMo, but I know a lot of people who read my blog are, so I thought I'd collect some of the writing advice I've found over the years and put it all into one easily-bookmarked post. Before I get to the older stuff, a couple new things I've found: io9 (which I feared would be la...
It was nice and sunny today in Citrus Heights (county of Sacramento CA), So I walked my absentee ballot down to the local polling place.
Those of you who say this is the first time in a long time that you felt good about voting I am with you.
one lever, pulled.
My voting experience was quick and easy. I think I spent more time confirming my ballot was marked correctly than I spent waiting in line. I guess going in the middle of the morning will do that for you. I wasn't expecting it, but the historical significance of the moment totally overwhelmed ...
Laughing@ Simpleton. Funny stuff.
Californians
Vote No on Prop8
Californians: Vote NO on Prop 8
Proposition 8 and the people who support it disgust me. Want to know why? Replace every instance of "same-sex marriage" with "interracial marriage" and see how bigoted and discriminatory it is. Here, these guys have done it for you: I can't believe it's 2008, and this is still an issue....
Yes We Can!
Sorry. I couldn't help it.
one last time . . .
I want my country back, and I want the despicable campaign of hate, fear, lies, and division run by John McCain and personified by Sarah Palin to be repudiated by a massive Obama win. We can make this happen. The polls all say we're going to make this happen . . . but I remember 2000 and I re...
Great job on criminal Minds. I have never seen the show, but I tuned in to see you. I didn't feel like I was watching Wil Wheaton acting. I felt like you were Floyd for an hour. Good luck on future auditions. I want to see you on some more shows!
Goodnight Wil and family and all Wheaton fans.
Criminal Minds: The Audition
This is the first of five posts about working on episode four, Paradise, during season four of Criminal Minds. I spoke with CliqueClack.com about some of my production experiences, and I have a gallery of images from the shoot at Flickr. Please note that I've done my best to recreate my interact...
@Wil If it were me I would put the food on the table. Fewer laundry stains that way. Sorry I couldn't help it. I make typos like that all the time.
in which wil repeats some advice for actors on auditioning
Though I've written and performed hundreds of hours of sketch and improv comedy, worked on tons of the VH1 "I love the last five minutes" shows, and every episode of What I Learned From the Movies . . . , the belief that I am not funny and can't handle comedy persists in Hollywood. This means th...
@Wil Thanks for the reply. My first Wil reply woo hoo!
I am looking forward to seeing criminal minds. Thanks for the twitter reminder. I have never seen the show before, so this will be completely new to me.

Wil, What kind of acting jobs are you interested in? Would you like to be a regular on TV series? Would you like to be in another movie? Are there any particular shows you would like to be on, or roles that you would like to play?
I know you need to get caught up on work, so no worries if you don't have time to answer.

I have trouble Turning off the TV. As Stephen King Said if you want to write you have to turn of the TV and read and write for hours a day. I am trying to read more, and I plan on writing soon.
A fun thing happened to me a few minutes ago I got an email from a friend I haven't seen in awhile and it turns out he is getting into writing himself. Don't you love it when you have friends and they just happen to get into the same stuff you do at the same time. I once "Book crossed" a "Jurassic Park" on a bench at the community college we both went to and I didn't find out until months later that he just happened to be the person to find it and pick it up. Funny how things like that happen.
Have a nice day Wil and all of Wil's readers :-)
we don't have anything by edmund wells, actually. he's not very popular.
I Propelled an interview with Neal Stephenson this morning. The whole thing is an awesome read, but one thing in particular jumped out at me: "If you choose to read a book today, it's not like a hundred years ago, when that was your only option. Today, when you read a book, you're making a con...
