It will be wonderful to see you on this show Wil, been watching it since day one, so this will only make it better.
Now to the usual, since there has been no WWdN:IX game on Stars, I have been on FullTilt, particularly on Wednesday nights, with many of the formers, but sadly, our host, TheMookie has had to retire, but let the name pass on, at 10pm ET (7pm PT, 22:00 GT). Of course with CC:SD and wootstock, it will be at least a month or so for you (assuming no other pressing engagements), but the poker crowd misses you (or at least this part of the poker crowd misses you). So let us know.
Have fun at the con and stock!!
Colin Ferguson and me, on acting
This was filmed by one of the producers, near the end of a very, very long day on the set of Eureka: We're obviously having fun and being silly, but there is an element of truth to what we said: we have a good time when we bring these characters to life, but it really does require a great d...
I may be late to this party, but do you really hate us this much Wil? Let me correct, not so much hate as a shared, painful memory THIRTY PLUS YEARS after the event.
This has sent me back to the game Wizardry, a;; cyan, magenta, and white. To be honest, I never did finish it (much to my lasting regret) because the next door neighbor had Paratroopers on their Apple (with the amber monochrome display). At the time, it was much cooler to shoot off the strings of the paratroopers shoot than to dungeon crawl.
Till the next time I get to play with you again....ur, um, across a table that is...
the most beguiling, horrible, opposite-of-fun experience I'd ever had
Reader G.M. e-mailed this picture and said, "How the f**k I ever believed that THIS was E.T., I'll never know -- but I still played it for hours and hours." The picture unlocked a memory I haven't thought about in a long time, but wanted to share: Around 1982 or 1983, before City Walk at Un...
Wil,
Without a doubt, bring back the WWdN! I for one have noticed a few nostalgic mentions of the Wheaties on several of the old regulars blogs.
this post has nothing to do with affleck, who was the bomb in phantoms
Warning: This post contains poker content, and is probably boring to 96% of people the people who will it. Saturday night, Anne and I went out to Santa Monica for the All-in for Scleroderma poker tournament. About 100 people played, and I made the final table with one big blind left, finishing i...

Wil, that was a fracking hawsome key-note, you are da man sir!!! I for one, was right there with you wanting to get into Ashley Judd's jump-suit and dumping the alien disc-game ;-)
That keynote did bring back some memories, those good old text rpg-games with the 8-bit (or were they 4-bit) graphics showing the pic of the monster when you got to them…those were the days!! At the same time, it also brought back some sad ones too, my brother and I never bonded in those days (he’s your age at 35 and I’m 37) I was the family geek and he was the sports jock…oh well, as they say, time heals all and we are good nowadays. I was always the rpger (that damned Bable fish) and he did the side-scroller’s of the day. Oh well, what can you do?!?!!1!!
One question for you sir, you mentioned being out in Vegas and Ryan asking for permission to play a game and having to consult with some fellow writers to ascertain if he was prepared to play the game. I translate Vegas=WSOP and writers=Otis and Dr. Pauly. Based on the question proposed, I suspect it was the Doctor, if it was Otis, I owe you $5 (and if you feel generous and I’m right you can give me $1) I suppose since I feel so confidante in both those predictions, if I’m wrong on both I owe you $10.
Anyways it was a wonderful keynote address; maybe one of these days I will actually make it out to one of them! I must also add, that we miss you at the tables. In fact, if you can make it to one of the first two Monkeys of September, I will cover your 10+1 and (if I lost) take care of that $10 or $5 when the game starts, and if I won, will consider it a wash just to take your chips, er, uh, to have you back at the tables!
Excellent speech sir, and keep up the good work!! If I owe you, let me know @gmail.com and I’ll send it to you on stars (or tilt), and if you’re at one of the first two Monkeys in September, let me know and I’ll transfer what I owe you then!!1!!
Keep up the good work
Chris
PAX FTW
I'm home from PAX, which was the best time I've ever had at a convention. Man, I wish I'd started going in 2004, because I think I've found an annual home. My keynote went perfectly, and the audience (and the gaming press online) responded to it in ways I never dreamed possible. I didn't think t...

Wil, I can't think of anything better than you being the keynote speaker at PAX, wish I could be there. As for your wife, just let her know that you will also be working with the guys who have set up that totally awesome charity, Child's Play and you need to talk to them about setting up a charity game for them on Stars!!
so i'm going to be the keynote speaker at PAX . . .
Back in February, I recounted the first time I met Gabe and Tycho from Penny Arcade at Comicon: I have always enjoyed Penny Arcade, because -- like pVp and Dork Tower -- it has characters I can care about and relate to while I'm laughing at myself, or them, or (usually) both. I talked to Gabe a...

Wil,
Good to hear about the audition, I trust you will let us know what the show is after you book it.
As for the question:
Now that you have had this role for several seasons, how much influence do you have over the characters development? Have you been given a script that you felt did not live up to how you feel about the character? If so, how did you deal with it and did it make it to the final cut?
there are many copies
I have an audition this afternoon to host a Sci-Fi show, and one of the things they're asking us to do is conduct a mock interview with Edward James Olmos. If I book this show, I'll solicit questions from WWdN readers for the interesting guests whenever I can, so, without revealing any spoile...

Sure, make me work a few hours late tonight so I can leave early tomorrow (at least that's the plan for now)! If it's as big a hit as it looks like it will be, you may want to try a schedule like:
1st Friday of the month: 8PM ET
2nd Friday of the month: 6PM ET
3rd Friday of the month: 4PM ET
4th Friday of the month: 2PM ET
That will help your readers world wide make at least one game a month plus give you at least one Friday off a quarter!
Announcing the first WWdN poker tourney
After playing tournaments every day for almost a month, and then hitting a terrible losing streak, I just wanted to walk away from poker for a bit. It's been a nice break, but I've recently started to get the itch to play again. Anne and I went to Vegas yesterday for the opening of the new Blu...
