Bravo. Finally some sanity on the subject of Rondo. Without question, he is talented enough to be one of the greats of the game - whenever he wants to be, which is the problem, since he clearly doesn't want to be often enough to suit Celtics management. No sane person expects a 15-15-20 out of the guy every night. What I expect, though, is effort EVERY NIGHT, which frankly hasn't been happening. I expect to see Rondo between his man and the cup EVERY NIGHT. I don't expect to see full games of Rondo stopping the basketball at the top of the key, pounding it to death like he's bored until the shot clock evaporates. And still, on other blogs, there are posters trying to offer the ridiculous argument that Rondo isn't wildly inconsistent. BS. If the Rondophiles really want the trade talks to stop, they'd better be praying their guy starts playing harder night-in and night-out. Nothing will end the trade talks faster.

So you really believe that statement by Rondo closes the door conclusively on any trade? LOL. Got any interest in a bridge near the new Nets arena?

There was NOTHING of news value coming from Doc *and Ainge yesterday. Nothing, and if you think that's some sort of conclusive proof that Rondo won't be dealt, your objectivity has gone out the window. Ainge isn't going to give Rondo away. Nothing new there. Nothing at all. I loathe Rondo's half-baked effort on both ends - and no, one triple double doesn't expunge three or four mailed-in games - but even I don't want him to be given away. But if he can get Gasol or Deron, Rondo's on the next plane out of town. The best solution is for Rondo to grow the hell up and start behaving like a professional, bringing it every night like Garnett does. After seven years, the question is how long do you wait for his professional immaturity to abate?

Totally agree. Someday, folks will understand that Ainge, Doc and Wyc aren't hero-worshiping fanboys. They're businessmen who know the pluses and minuses of their players inside and out. All the Rondo knob-slobbering is hysterical. You KNOW he's going to mail in the next couple of games.

It's hardly surprising that amidst all the Rondolove on this board and CelticsBlog, where the moderators will commit Hari Kari if their beloved petulant little pouter gets dealt, the bigger picture gets missed. Y'all don't think Doc isn't thinking about a certain combo guard that he has a pretty solid scouting report on as a possible replacement for The Immature One? Get bigger. Get a better character person who won't check out of an entire half-season when his worthless center buddy gets traded. Get a better character person who'll play hard EVERY night, not one out of every three. Get a better shooter. Get someone who'll actually try to maintain position between his man and the basket. Get it through your heads: The league doesn't worship Rondo. You do. This is tremendous value for a player the Celtics CANNOT build around post-Big 3.
