I'm sorry, Wil, did you say you want some more DONUTS?
the LA daily: why i love the los angeles kings
Sunday morning, Nolan and I watched the Penguins play the Capitals in the NHL's game of the week on NBC. It was considerably more exciting than the previous week's contest between alleged rivals the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, where someone forgot to tell the Rangers to show up and...
Hey, Wil, another Wil-fan and Hockey fan here.
You're bang on - and believe me, being from Columbus, I know -all- about the frustration of watching your team get kicked around.
I think a lot of people who don't understand fighting in hockey tend to be people who don't actively root for a team. I had a friend who constantly regaled me about how bad fighting in hockey was, but he only watched it on Sports Center or playoff games now and then.
After I took him to some games at Nationwide, he started seeing it a different way, and he began to understand -why- fighting happens, and what it can mean for /his team/.

I thought the episode was fun, but with all the buildup around you doing Ted's voice, I was really hoping we'd see more of the flashbacks. I thought you made Ted sound fun and believable, and made the technobabble seem very real without breaking the flow of the back and forth. :)
hit robots, make fall down
I'm writing this on Wednesday afternoon, before I start packing for the Phoenix Comicon, where I'll be when this post magically appears on my blog, so please forgive me if there's some timely current event I should be talking about; I can't really travel through time, you know. If I've done ever...
These have been so awesome to read. I haven't actually gotten to watch the ep yet, but I don't feel spoilered - just clued in to the effort and the fun that went into making it. :)
And...um...I don't suppose you're a Blackhawks fan, too? Because Columbus could -really- use the two points when we play them next week...
Criminal Minds: Production Continues
This is the fourth of five posts about working on episode four, Paradise, during season four of Criminal Minds. I spoke with CliqueClack.com about some of my production experiences, and I have a gallery of images from the shoot at Flickr. Please note that I've done my best to recreate my interac...

Was last night in the NHL not off the hook?
I can't believe what's happening to Ottawa. (I mean, as a Leafs fan, I'm certainly -enjoying- it, but I never dreamed they'd fold like this.)
the secret life of wheatons
And now, via reprinted text messages, a glimpse into the private lives of a geek, his wife, and their son: Anne: Michelle was late, so I'm going to be at work longer than I thought. See you guys sometime around 9. Me: Somehow, someway, between Battlestar Galactica, NHL playoffs, and Rock Band, w...

Oddly enough, I got a flickrmail while reading this post from the Schmap guys asking to use some of the pictures from my last trip to Toronto. After the feedback here, I'm telling them yes, too. :D
Don't feel too bad about Ms. Johnson - I've had problems recognizing people I work with (and talk to daily) outside of work all of the time, to the point of being startled by one of them walking up to me in a grocery store and asking me a question!
monday brain scrapings
Scraping out the brain again, here's what I found: I scored 100% on the Atari Quiz at mental_floss. Go me. Some company called Schmap wants to use one of my pictures from Montreal in one of their travel guides. They say that they don't pay for the pictures, because they give the guides away. How...

Glad you're doing better!
However, I'm calling a mild "Bullshit!" on you.
You're a writer, Wil. I can't believe that you'd get 3 hours worth of info about "Secret trains!" and not have it spark a story idea -somewhere- in your head. :D
i don't want to go on the cart
I feel happy! I feel happy! In all seriousness, I'm recovering at exactly the right pace, according to people who keep score on this sort of thing. Warning: this is about to get gross. I'm off all the meds, except for some stupid steroid for swelling that makes me really fucking irritable and re...

Man, I miss the Silver City arcade and putt-putts that used to be out here. Makes me feel nostalgic watching that.
I remember finding this guy's web page when he started collecting machines, and recognizing some of the machines that he was hunting parts for now up and running (with people playing them!) is awesome!
the luna city arcade: gamer heaven
My dream is to open a classic 80s arcade, complete with well-maintained minigolf, pizza, and waffle cones. Here's a look inside the Luna City arcade, which is exactly what I want to do one day: (via Gizmodo. Thanks to Bob S for the link. RSS subscribers probably need to click through to see t...

Wil,
First, thank you for voting. (I'm also glad you voted for Obama, but it's even more important to me that you got out and voted!)
Second, just wanted to let you know I just got a copy of Kakan ni Shinkou in the mail (yaaay, tax return), and loved Cura te Ipsum.
I'm a beta tester over at Blippr, so I threw you up some love: http://blippr.com/books/8638-Star-Trek-the-manga-Volume-2-Kakan-ni-Shinkou-Star-Trek-The-Manga
I voted today
I cast my vote for Barack Obama in California's primary this morning. Here's a major reason why I did: “When I am this party's nominee, my opponent will not be able to say that I voted for the war in Iraq; or that I gave George Bush the benefit of the doubt on Iran; or that I supported Bush-Chen...

Romulus:
Linux.
it's so fun to relate
When I finished up my work yesterday, I walked out into the living room to see how Nolan was doing. He was playing Warcraft (non-MMO version.) "Hey," I said, "how was your day?" "It was good," he said. He drove his little hero dude across the map, and rained furious death down upon some other pl...

Intense and sincere congratulations! That's a hell of a quote. :D
I like the cover, too. Can't wait to see it in person!
In which I reveal the cover and title of my new book
I'm not sure if it comes across in this image, but the idea is that it's a family photo album with a title written by your mom. The picture, which is me getting my first banana seat bike for Christmas around 1978 or 1979, appears to be affixed with scotch tape, but I don't think you can see i...

Absolutely agree. The movie was a fantastic experience - I think it would have stood just as well without the James Bond name on it.
Craig is an absolutely fantastic actor, and when he gets into Bond and puts on his War Face, the entire thing just went into overdrive.
Casino Royale
I'm a low-level James Bond fan, nowhere near being a Bond geek, but certainly an aficionado. I love all the Sean Connery ones (well, right up until that . . . thing . . . happened in 1983) and I didn't mind the unapologetic cheesiness of the Roger Moore years, but I positively hate everything abo...
