Right there with you... I even pay my fiber coy for BBC America and the Doctor is only a week or two late there, but it's not in HD and I can't pay iTunes for it and be able to pump it through my PS3 to my TV. I figure grabbing a torrent of an mkv and watching in full screen glory in HD 5.1 glory makes me a pirate and all, but I already paid for it once and would happily pay again if I could get it the way I want it. So yeah, I guess I do have an option, just not the one I want so I don't have the case either of you do. But still...

I was at the w00tstock in SF (and you signed my ST Manga... thanks for that) and remember thinking similar thoughts. There were plenty of people around me talking about things that I didn't understand or were not of interest, but we all seemed to work at the same level. It was nice to be around 'our' people for a night. Oh, and a return to the w00t womb would not be unappreciated....

Brittany.... I'm not jumping on you with this reply, it's just the latest in the long list of posts about how privacy is shifting... and you are right. The problem at hand with Facebook is that they keep shifting what private is. Not by giving you even an opt out, but by just making whatever change they want to and then asking forgiveness later. If the site was set up so that anything you put on your page was public that would be one thing... but that's not what has been happening. They set it up to allow some things to be shielded from the world at large and even from some of your 'friends' and then pulled the rug out... not once but time and time again. I get that in a more connected world the expectation of privacy is fleeting. That's why those things that are private need to stay that way and so far that's not something that Facebook seems to understand.

No one knows that as they are a privately held corporation. Whatever they say their revenues are cannot be trusted without seeing the books to see what they are calling losses.

I saw a vid for RE: Your Brains up and was going to compliment you and the band for a flawless FC.. and then realized you were playing no fail... Aw well, it was a party, so I guess it was ok... And whoever was playing drums on Livin' on a Prayer was rocking out. That's the way to play! You ever bring your RB setup up to Sacramento, I'll drag my ION kit over...

I really hope it does not get really big. I like the idea of sending wootstock out to anyone that might want to tune in. But I would not like to see it move to enormodome venues. Another SXSW or ComiCon that I stop going to because it gets too crazy I don't need. What I would go to again and again is the little Wootstock 1.1 in the over sized living room in San Francisco that I was at last year. Yeah, I know. I sound like an elitist asshat... and I don't mean it that way. It just seems nicer to be kind of home made. You know?

...And so slow that you could sometimes grab the handset, talk and put it back. Usually the line dropped (hell it was hard to keep the couple from hanging up anyway with extraneous noise) but every now and then we could pull it off. Yah, I was a dork... and it was 1981...

Connected at 14.4? damned kids and their newfangled toys. You never knew the rest and relaxation of waiting for a screen to fill with a 300 baud acoustic coupler!

Damned kids... Some of us have our original Metagaming microgame. Cut out counters, no VHS box, just a bag with free tape.. and we like it that way! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microgame (from the '70's file... I'm so old)

Have to bring your tour to Sacramento. I can handle hard drums or guitar... If you can wangle it, you gotta check out the ION drums. I was able to get a set for free and it's a blast. Rock Band Forever! (GHWT is teh suck... though they got The Boss, so I gotta play a bit... painful though with those crappy charts)

SAme here, usually. I guess I started the game up In flagrante, as it were, as I watched it update. Glad you got the update... Has made all the difference in some talky songs and that damned Timmy.

Odd that some haven't seen this update. My PS3 was updated when I got home from work last Thursday ~6pm Pacific time.... ALso saw x-boxers on the rockband forums with the patch on Saturday.

The fan cap was never that big a deal. You could finish the game and unlock every song on medium. About all you could not do is open some of the bigger venues, but since Tokyo and Rio were both playable for DLC and bonus content, the biggest venues were still available to everyone. The store and the change in phoneme recognition are the biggies in our practice space (ok, living room).

The bridge isn't really original. IT's going to be drawn from the insane amount of periphery/ancillary/notated material found in Tolkien's works. Go to your favorite Borders of Barnes & Noble and look at the Tolkien section for an idea of where this material might be coming from.

Once again they are responding to last year's threat. With the advent of R5 releases the number of crappy in theater boots is plummeting.

In the mid 80's just after III came out (I think) Jimmy Doohan appeared in my little burb at an appliance store (in the before time before the coming of the big box) and did autographs. He talked to everyone that had something to say... I learned that he didn't much care about how the movies were starting to interlock with 2, 3, and then 4 all connected. He said that he just wanted good episodes and stories that would stand on their own. Anyway, it doesn't matter what he said, he had a minute or two for everyone and a smile for anyone.
