My husband and I spent a full day together in the mountains on Saturday (thanks Mom and Dad for watching the babe!). We drove to Grande Cache Saturday morning and paddled around Victor Lake where we saw so many beautiful birds and a ton of fish both in the water... Continue reading

My husband dreamt up the idea of this eavestrough patio garden and built it at the end of April. You can see how much chillier it was outside just by looking at the first set of photos. Now, this garden gets a ton of sun and heat and the herbs... Continue reading

I am embracing the stay-at-home pioneer woman lifestyle. Well, as well as one can who lives in the city anyways. The sun is cooking hot and I'm letting it do my drying for me, it just makes sense! My husband just built me a clothes line in the backyard and... Continue reading

We debated what mountain to paint on the main wall in the nursery for a while, finally deciding on Pyramid Mountain because it is iconic of our favorite Rocky Mountain Town, Jasper. It is also the highest mountain I ever summited at 9065 ft, a 28.5km round trip multisport adventure.... Continue reading

Last night we hosted a BBQ for our friends to celebrate the start of Summer, so it's time to reflect on books read in the Spring and embark on a list of refreshing, lighthearted reads for Summer. Although, most of them probably won't be lighthearted. My favorite novels never are.... Continue reading

I needed this reminder during the bike portion of the sprint triathlon I raced yesterday morning. My thoughtful husband stuck it on my bicycle while he was pumping the tires the night before my race, and at 6:41am race morning it brought a smile to my face when I hopped... Continue reading

My Fathers Day crafting this year was inspired by one of mine and Emery's favorite books: "I Am A Bunny". The plot is very simple, as all of her baby books are, and tells the story of a bunny named Nicolas exploring nature throughout the changing seasons. The art is... Continue reading

I bought mango popsicles from the grocery store the other week which were advertised as being "natural" and made with "real fruit". The texture and taste fooled me, but when I read the box I was shocked to see how long the ingredients list was and that it contained corn... Continue reading

If you're like me, folding and hanging clean laundry is the chore that gets neglected weekly, clean clothes piling up in baskets at the foot of the bed. I like tossing dirty laundry into the wash, I find that chore to be instantly gratifying because the mess it out of... Continue reading

Two of my best friends are pregnant, one due in the Fall and one in the Winter so both babes will need toques! I was so happy with how Emery's purple beanie turned out that I decided to recreate it with skinnier needles and wool for a newborn. Both beanies... Continue reading

I've been in a bit of a slump in the cooking department this Spring. It seems like after a day spent working hard in the yard I just want to come inside, throw some snacks on a plate, call it dinner and eat it on the couch with my feet... Continue reading

I'm so excited to finally see our nursery the way we had envisioned it looking when I was pregnant and we were moving into our house! The priority was to paint all the walls the same shade of white, get rid of the gross carpet and lay down hardwood in... Continue reading

This sign reads "Emery", but to me it says a lot more. To me, it tells a story of a girl and a boy (and a bump) walking hand in hand along the ocean carrying a piece of driftwood and discussing if they should carve "Emery" or "Gabriel" on it,... Continue reading

This weeks favourite: Iced Caramel Macchiato Technically, in Starbucks lingo, an iced grande non-fat half sweet iced caramel macchiato meaning: 1.5 pumps vanilla syrup, skim milk, ice cubes, 2 shots of espresso poured over the ice and drizzled with caramel syrup. My husband injured his foot last weekend and has... Continue reading

I'm celebrating everyday moments of the past couple weeks, like.. ^^ that time my baby ate my essay assignment. "Sorry professor, my baby ate my homework" (I'm way behind on celebrating the little things obviously, feels like I've been out of school for ages!) ^^ ^^ my husband finishing the... Continue reading

At nine months old Emery is: wearing 9-12 month size clothing sleeping in her crib, which is why these photos were taken in there (crib trained by 9 months, we're certainly not breaking any records here haha but I love the time she spent in my arms) napping twice a... Continue reading

I figure it's time for a cloth diapering update since the first post about it is from October when Emery was still skinny and had her newborn hair. Also, she was still on a purely breastmilk diet and adding solids has definitely affected things in the diapering department! Firstly, I... Continue reading

..of a Lifestyle Blogger! On Wednesday morning of last week I had the privilege of sharing my passion for blogging with a group of eager students at their student convention. On May long weekend, we wanted to get off the beaten trail a bit and escape the massive crowds of tourists parading through Jasper's most popular hiking trails. So after picking up coffee on Saturday morning we drove about 45 minutes from the town of Jasper to Mount Robson Provincial... Continue reading

Thank you so much Leigh! I totally get what you mean about worrying you're not providing enough tummy time, we have hardwood floors so I find I lay her down on her tummy very little since it just seems like it would be very uncomfortable! Now that it's warmed up outside we have been doing more tummy time on the lawn and Emery is getting better at holding herself up (probably because when she collapses she gets a face full of grass!). Haha. Sometimes when I scroll the internet I find a multitude of babies all 'progressing' faster than my girl is but I try not to fret and just enjoy the fact that she can't get into anything yet!
