We spent last Saturday doing a lot of neat stuff in a lot less kilometers (compared to Friday's hike). My husband was going rock climbing with some friends at Morro Bluffs so my parents and I followed them up the goat trail to the base of the cliff they'd be... Continue reading

With epic mountain views like this (of the towering Roche Miette face, and others) how could I not hike to the Devona lookout two weekends in a row? On the Sunday afternoon of May long weekend, my little family and two of our favorite couples hiked the Celestine Lake trail... Continue reading

..of a Lifestyle Blogger! On Wednesday morning of last week I had the privilege of sharing my passion for blogging with a group of eager students at their student convention. Emery "assisted" me in this endeavor and was astonishingly well behaved during the 1.25 hour long presentation. I put together... Continue reading

On May long weekend, we wanted to get off the beaten trail a bit and escape the massive crowds of tourists parading through Jasper's most popular hiking trails. So after picking up coffee on Saturday morning we drove about 45 minutes from the town of Jasper to Mount Robson Provincial... Continue reading

We escaped to our favorite place, Jasper National Park, on May long weekend for Emery's first camping trip! The three of us squeezed into our tiny tent for the weekend and it went smoother than I could have imagined, even with Emery cutting her first two teeth over the weekend!... Continue reading

Here's a little glimpse into my plans for our front flower bed. My husband and I built the bed the last week of April and have been waiting anxiously for May long to come, and along with it the last frost of Spring. These are some of the flower varieties... Continue reading

Thank you so much Leigh! I totally get what you mean about worrying you're not providing enough tummy time, we have hardwood floors so I find I lay her down on her tummy very little since it just seems like it would be very uncomfortable! Now that it's warmed up outside we have been doing more tummy time on the lawn and Emery is getting better at holding herself up (probably because when she collapses she gets a face full of grass!). Haha. Sometimes when I scroll the internet I find a multitude of babies all 'progressing' faster than my girl is but I try not to fret and just enjoy the fact that she can't get into anything yet!

Botanical Beach is a jewel in the Juan De Fuca Provincial park. At low tide, you can view the abundance of intertidal life from dry land peering into the tidal pools. It's a very short walk from the parking lot near Port Renfrew. We observed hermit crabs in all sorts... Continue reading

As usual, I took opportunity of all the time spent in the passenger seat during our road trip to get some knitting projects done. My husband had requested I knit a purple beanie for Emery for chilly Summer nights camping, so that was the first thing I made: And I... Continue reading

Emery practically lived in our handed-down MEC backpack during our time on Vancouver Island. There are just so many sights to see and explore and she was more than happy to join along in the fun. My favorite hike that we did was in Goldstream Park just 20 minutes outside... Continue reading

My mom and I shared these muffins, in their adorable tea cup tins, after a beautiful morning spent flower shopping together. We visit the greenhouse together every Spring, colour scheming Mom's front flower bed and tasting herb leaves. This year our annual tradition felt brand new again with Emery in... Continue reading

At 4 weeks until the last frost, I just started lettuce and cucumber seeds. I transplanted the larger seedlings that were started 4 weeks ago (tomatoes, hot peppers, onion and garlic chive) into bigger homes, AKA yogurt containers I've washed and saved over Spring. Most of the seeds I started... Continue reading

Hello! I am back from our annual West Coast road trip with just the faintest Toms shoes tan line on my feet. On our second last day on Vancouver Island my little family had a day all to ourselves in the Comox Valley which we filled with a tour of... Continue reading

I have so many fun family/easter/adventure-y moments to share with you, but it's the end of the semester and I can't seem to pry the laptop away from my husband (school trumps blog in terms of computer priority apparently <thumbs down>). In fact I have a final essay of my... Continue reading

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling : SUPER funny read. Very lighthearted, easy to get into and laugh out loud funny. Made me want to re-watch every episode of The Office (which we do anyways). Reading this book combatted the sleepless middle-of-the-night new mommy blues for me.... Continue reading

I've marked on the calendar 8, 6 and 4 weeks to last frost for starting all of our vegetables from seeds. This week was the 8 week mark so out came the tomatoes, chili peppers, garlic chive and onion seeds! We've set up a folding table in our kitchen window... Continue reading
