^^ cabin life is the life for me! I'm so thankful that our family had the opportunity to stay with my in-laws in their beautiful cabin to ring in my favourite month of the year! It was the hottest first weekend in May that I can remember, that's for sure.... Continue reading

This week ended up being a very light training week! I had planned for Monday and Tuesday to be one-workout-days since I was running a race Wednesday evening, and then got sick on Wednesday and still ran the race which made me quite sick for the remainder of the week.... Continue reading

Oooooh the excitement of a start line! It can only be rivalled by the crossing of a finish line :) I got to do both Wednesday evening as I ran a new race in town, a 10km trail trek that was aptly named and left me spent (and muddy!). It... Continue reading

I took it a little bit easier this week, taking one rest day and having three single-workout days, because I'm running a 10km race mid-week this coming week and want to be semi-fresh for it :) The race is going to be a hilly trail run so doing two of... Continue reading

Sliced apple and peanut butter yogurt dip! Emery and I share this snack almost every day. It's actually really weird that I didn't have any the day I did myfitnesspal check-up, so I have no idea what it amounts to calorically or anything like that. All I know is that... Continue reading

Happy Earth Day! I love each and every bit of this big blue planet that I've explored so far, but the watery bits have got to be my favourite! I hope you get outside today, as well as get yourself to a Starbucks with your travel mug and enjoy a... Continue reading

We just returned home from a wonderful and warm Spring weekend spent with my brother's family. This little road trip was a great way to celebrate my husband completing his education degree last Friday, and the record-breakingly hot Spring temps really made it feel like the beginning of Summer! We... Continue reading

Yah it should take about 3 hours! We want to come back to New Zealand so badly, and will most definitely be visiting you when this trip eventually does happen. :) An ocean swim would be a dream!
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate the feedback! If you give yourself a "check-up" leave me a comment with how it goes! :)

Hey Leigh! I actually don't think I mentioned what length the tri is on here yet. In June I'm doing an Olympic distance triathlon which is 1500m swim- 40k bike- 10k run. I've only ever done sprint distance races before so far which are half as long! Thanks for asking :)

Another week of no rest days, and 6/7 days were double-days! This week of training ended up being a ton of swimming, lots of biking, many un-recorded long walks with friends/family and not much running. I only ran twice this week with a long run on the schedule for Saturday... Continue reading

I haven't done a nutrition check-up for myself recently, and I've never posted one on the blog before but thought it would be fun to look back on! But I know that I'm weird and love seeing what other people eat, and maybe you're weird too and would enjoy seeing... Continue reading

Good morning! I've noticed that the topic of RISING and SHINING has been coming up often lately during conversation, so I thought it would be fun to talk about it here. And I thought I would start the conversation with a couple of photos from of one of my favorite... Continue reading

I'm celebrating everyday moments of the past couple weeks, like: ^^ a morning walk that was as hashtag-momlife as it gets: a grocery run with a sleeping babe in the stroller and a stop at Starbucks "on the way" home which really added like 5km ^^ ^^ feeling good to... Continue reading

My Granny taught me how to sew a dress with matching bloomers for Emery while she was visiting earlier in the ear (the same trip when she taught me how to sew these leather moccasins) and I am so excited about them! Emery is too, as you can tell. She's... Continue reading

Another exciting week! No rest days this week, five double-days, two outdoor bike rides adding a lot more cycling mileage and lots of work perfecting the front crawl stroke at swim practice! Also, no naps for me this week because Emery blessed me with a whole week of decent sleeping... Continue reading

Aw thanks Leigh! Yup indoor play areas are a must around here, but we were so blessed with a fairly mild winter this year and could go outside way more than I thought we would've! If I'm going to play with Emery indoors I prefer to use the pool, and I've noticed in the past 2 warm weeks we've had that we have gone swimming together way less!

I like to keep buttermilk on hand at all times, for emergencies and such. And by that I mean that when there is a bit of milk left in the bottom of a carton past the best before date, I keep it hanging around in the fridge for a couple... Continue reading

Yes, in the North a "Spring toque" is a thing. We actually wear toques year round, they are a necessity in the early morning while camping even in the middle of Summer. I knit Emery this toque a couple of weeks ago out of left over rainbow wool from my... Continue reading

Exciting things this week! Spring seems to have sprung for good, so my husband pumped up our bike tires and dusted off the chariot stroller bike attachment and we took our girl for a spin. Twice! Riding outdoors will add a lot more mileage each week. Also, my friend and... Continue reading
