I had the priveledge of capturing some family photos for this beautiful family the other week and I'm so happy with them. Their three boys are so sweet and cooperative, and throughout the night we took individual photos of each of them doing the activities they love. It's always nice... Continue reading

How has it already been a year since my husband ran his first race, the 2013 Canadian Death Race? Time flies by when it's full of action and adventure, like this past year was! I was so pumped up after watching his team race last year and set my mind... Continue reading

You must be nearing the end as well now, right Leigh?! Hope all is well and you are getting the rest you need (and deserve!)

I personally have never froze this pie, Melanie, and very rarely do freeze baked things (we tend to practice the no-self-control-stuff-our-faces-until-it's-gone approach to pie eating) but my Granny freezes anything and everything and I've learnt from her that there is virtually nothing that cannot be frozen! Another idea would be to hull and freeze the strawberries before baking them, then you can make the pie fresh when you want to. I freeze my strawberries flat on cookie sheets before storing in ziplock bags so they don't mush together. Hope this help!

My sister-in-law Leah snapped these beautiful maternity photos for us last night: I cannot wait to meet our little one. I treasure these photos, and this unique time in our life. Pregnancy is something else and I am so thankful to have these images to remember it by. xo. Continue reading

We were invited to three beautiful weddings this summer, the last one being this past weekend in Edmonton for my cousin and his beautiful bride! I love weddings. I love reconnecting with family and friends at weddings, all the dancing and the good food and admiring the beautiful people and... Continue reading

There are a few basic baked goods that I believe every woman needs to have a reliable recipe on-hand for. Banana bread is one of them. Others include: brownies, chocolate chip cookies, bran muffins, biscuits and a quick dessert fruit crisp. Having said that, it's taken me years to find... Continue reading

(This is not a gender reveal. I wore this dress to a wedding on the weekend and was asked a couple times if we were having a girl, thanks to the hot pink bow. There is a 50% chance that we are having a girl, and a 100% chance that... Continue reading

What do you do on a scorching 33 degree day in Jasper? Go for a dip in Pyramid Lake! Jasper is usually such a temperate climate, always perfect for long days of hiking but after hiking Bald Hills all morning we were desperate for a way to cool off in... Continue reading

Two weekends ago we said goodbye to Jasper for a little bit. When we return we'll have a new, adorable little companion in tow. After spending 5 weekends hiking and exploring our favorite national park this summer, it was sad to leave knowing we didn't have a return date written... Continue reading

Our strawberry harvest from last week has been put to good use! Two buckets have been hulled and frozen to make jam with when the weather cools down, and one bucket has been tossed on top of granola and milk in the morning, yogurt in the afternoon, angel food cake... Continue reading

For the past 3 years my mom and I have celebrated her birthday by going strawberry picking! I don't know exactly what day strawberry season starts, but to me the day that strawberries are their ripest and plumpest is July 15th. In 2012 and 2013 we picked berries at Dunvegan... Continue reading

Husband and I spent another weekend in the woods. We drove down after work on Friday and had the best conversation during the four hour drive. It's so nice to mini-roadtrip every weekend to be able to catch up and re-connect after a busy week. I'm very .. (what's a... Continue reading

I love waking up every morning, throwing open the living room curtains and seeing how my little patio garden has grown! I water while drinking my morning tea then bid them farewell and take off on my bike to work. It's lovely. I love these plants. Maternal instincts/hormones are taking... Continue reading

I've made a few varieties of granola bars for work/school lunches or backpacking trips, our favorite being these peanut butter granola bars. Although granola bars are so easy to whip up, I still buy more Kashi granola bars than I make them from scratch unfortunately. I'd really love to always... Continue reading

I take the saying that "the key to a man's heart is through his stomach" very seriously. My mom and I got to work in the kitchen the day before Fathers Day whipping up homemade treats for my dad, husband (!!!!) and father-in-law. We made delicious buttermilk biscuits to accompany... I've been on a serious mission to de-clutter our home before moving at the end of the summer. As I empty bottles and containers of product from my bathroom I haven't been replenishing the stock. What I've found is that I can use coconut oil for almost everything skin-care related!... Continue reading
