Street Vibrations will probably get more Harleys, Max, but I do hope to see some adventurous Harley riders there. At the Horizons Unlimited motorcycle travelers meetings in Cambria, CA last October, the two top adventurers were on Harleys. And very dirty they were! I'm looking forward to exploring Livermore this autumn. If you know of some must-ride roads, please let me know. I'd like to test them out for http://motosfo.com Thanks! Carla

Congratulations to Writer Vixen who has won a Kindle version of Women, Motorcycles and the Road to Empowerment. Her comment on the Motorcycle Misadventures blog post by Liz Jansen Hitting the Road: 7 Steps to Adventure Travel was randomly drawn from all the respondents. How very true – “these ideas can be applied to moving forward on ANY adventure.” Wishing you all the best on your Road.

Ara, thanks so much - I already included FM170 but I think I'll add your description of the valley of the gods road. See you soon!

That's true, Zohar, I've ridden both ways and the view from cliffside is marginally better. However you do have tourists pulling out of the turnouts unexpectely. The other thing is that wind blows south, which is why all the bicyclists start in Washington State and bicycle to Southern California.

I fondly remember driving out of Boston to Canada, and finding Vermont - being so surprised at how lush it is. Thanks much!

Thanks very much Rob - I did get more input on 1 through Maine and the scenic byways that hook up to 1 as a top 10 in the USA.

Hi Pat. I have done most of that route and agree it's one of the best rides in the USA.Thanks for reminding me.

I'm sorry!!! Hard to get to the good places sometimes without suffering a bit. But it just makes them better though, doesn't it? That said, getting to the Shenandoah is easy peasy. Thank's for not being mad :-)

Oh Steve, thank you for caring :-) I will email him. First though, a group ride to Baja, can't be too scary. Hey, looks like you're having a great trip on your Norton.

Excellent Jeanie, congratulations for getting your license, and yes, Lois is great, have met her a couple of times, most recently at the Overland Expo in Arizona. Look for her in these spotlights in May…

How did you learn to fix things? Did your parents teach you or did you come to it later?

Thanks for joining the panel discussion, Mark. But what, no manual?! :-) I love that video, am sending it to my college-aged nieces and nephews. And your playwright sensibility conjuring up an image of jousting in a dark wood with our animus and anima. Perfect.

Thanks all, and Brent, thanks for encouraging me, as always. I have been writing much more than 140 characters but haven't shared much yet, you will see it beginning of next year in The China Road Motorcycle Diaries. There are some previews on http://scribd.com/carlaking/

This is weird - I was walking by a telephone pole in Pt Richmond - a squirrel ran down it and charged me. I swear, I it came so close, I could only imagine it tearing up my leg and ripping my face apart, so I ran...
Hi Steve, nice to hear from you! Thank goodness you can filter your twitter feeds - I immediately unfollow anybody who complains about spreadsheets or tells me they'll be back in a minute or just says TGIF. For me it's about trading valuable information - and that's not that I'm going out for a cup of coffee, now! I love the tweetchat capability and I hope to be using it to its maximum capacity during my trip. I'll have the data package for the iPhone so will hopefully be on the G3 constantly enough to do some live stuff - of course, time zones permitting. I may also set up a skype call. If I do, I'll tweet it. Would love to hear from you. Under the Radar/China Road is ALMOST done! It's in final editing. I had hoped to get it out before I left, but . . . 10 4 over and out Carla
