Ok, I'll be "that guy". Why does Timelord Wil have a mop? Is he cleaning up after Sparks McGee?

It sucks things went down the way they did, but this post [http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/wwdnbackup/2008/04/what-scalzi-sai.html] made a while back referring to this Scalzi article [http://whatever.scalzi.com/2008/04/03/reader-request-week-2008-10-meeting-authors-and-me/] covers meeting people at cons quite nicely. Trying to remember that celebrities are people too will not always sooth bruised feelings when you really REALLY wanted something from them (like a photo), but hopefully it will help to gain some perspective why people can't be "on" all the time. When I worked as a massage therapist, I really hated that people would ask me for massage outside of my office hours. Instead I would work 8-10 hours and come home to friends and family asking me to work on their trouble spots. Now apply the same concepts to being a celebrity, and you start to get a picture of why celebs really don't like being bothered outside of their "hours". I don't think Wil did anything really wrong here, you just took it personal when it wasn't meant to be. My two cents.

I said it before, I'll say it again: Ryan and Nolan REALLY should start working on @ShitOldManWheatonSays soon. These old man rants are happening more and more frequently. :)

As I can't really come up with anything creative, witty, or even remotely original to say, I will echo the statements of those before me. It is a pleasure to meet you all. May we (the internet) prove worthy of the trust and faith you have placed in us by introducing us to your family. A toast to the Wheatons!

Wow, so many responses! I didn't have time to read them all, and I'm sure someone has highlighted this by now, but in case they haven't... I hate to break it to you Wil, but you ARE Wil Fucking Wheaton. Whether you say it outwardly, think it, write it, or whatever. It's something you can't escape, hide, or pretend otherwise. No matter the situation, when you speak, Wil Wheaton speaks. It's the onerous curse of celebrity. Every time you add your commentary to something, your name and your celebrity precede your actual thoughts and statements. Your voice carries a great deal of weight, whether you believe it or not. People look up to you, respect and listen to what you say, hell, they even idolize you. As sad as it is, this whole situation is being blown out of proportion simply because "Wil Wheaton" lost his temper. You're handling it all just fine, but don't beat yourself up too much about it. After all, Wil Wheaton is just a geek. And geeks have feelings, too.

Ok, I'm making it official. When I win the lottery, I will pay for your kids college, and buy you Disneyland. Just out of thanks for all the entertainment you've given us over the years. :)

You know, The growing acceptance of homosexuality has interesting parallels in the geek's struggle to find their place in the world. Now don't mistake me. What they suffer and have suffered is far worse than I ever underwent as a geek, but there are parallels that can be drawn. To that end, I thank you Wil. I tried to squelch and suppress my inner geek for years beyond count. But, through your writing and people like you, Felicia Day, Jonathan Coulton, and Adam Savage, I have given my inner geek a big hug, and embraced my nerdy side. I feel an inner peace with myself that I haven't felt since I was a child. Society has grown up enough to start embracing "our" differences, and so, I feel confident that someday, LGBTs will find their muse, and find a world ready to embrace them as well. Peace.

Your first, or last, line of the keynote HAS to be: His name was Aeofel. Anything less would dishonor his memory.

I agree with Joe. Switch over to Gmail and use the POP settings to pull your wilwheaton.net email into your Gmail account. Whether or not it ever becomes more than a backup is up to you, but it's nice to be able to access your stuff when sh*t hits the fan. Also, make friends with DropBox if you haven't already.

$10 bucks says Wil's character is sickeningly-sweet, smotheringly-affectionate the morning after. Codex has to sneak out the bathroom window and run down the street in his kilt. Great job! Season 4 can't come quickly enough!

OK, here is some debugging info that you might (or not) find useful. The offending MP3 that is replacing your Futurecast Episode 7 is called "03 Memories of the Futurecast_ Episo". Actually, Episode 9 comes across as "Memories of the Futurecast_ Episode", while all other eps are labeled correctly, *except* for episode 8 which is labeled "Memories of the Futurecast_ Episode 7". I have no idea if this helps at all, as I have no experience with feeds like this. But, those are the files and how they are downloading on the feed. BTW, please understand that I'm not nitpicking, or trying to be an ass. I really like your work, and I just want to be sure everyone gets a chance to enjoy it as you intended. I usually listen to your podcasts through your blog anyway, it's just that your feed is an easy way to archive them for later enjoyment. I know you're doing this in your own free time, and making them available for free, so feel free to e-cock punch me if I'm being a douche.

FYI: Wil, instead of your Futurecast Episode 7, your feed has a snappy little music number. While your eps ARE toe-tappingly fantastic, this *might* not be exactly what you intended. Keep up the great work.

It's redundant, cliché, and otherwise completely unoriginal... I'm sorry, Wil. May you and your family find peace in the days to come. Ferris' life was better for knowing you, just as you were better for knowing her. Give thanks for the time you shared together and remember her well as your tears flow. We all loved Ferris through your writing, so be assured that we share your pain. Be well, good sir, Be well.

Can you give us any teasers about the podcast? Did you add any more players to your group? Did Acquisitions, Inc. finally hire a rogue?

Who the hell cares what Adam Carolla thinks anyway? I enjoyed him in the "Man Show", but his experience with Wil probably runs more into his "LoveLine" gig. Loveline caller: "Ummm, hi, this is Cindy, and this guy I saw on TV hasn't returned any of my fan mail. He played 'Wesley' on Star Trek, and I think he's bitchin'. I just want him to notice me, and, um, like I want to know what I should do?" Adam: "Wil Wheaton? I know that guy! He totally stole my girlfriend! I was dating this hot blonde and then fucking 'Wesley' comes along, and drinks MY KOOL-AID! I HATE that guy! And get this, he FUCKING married her! What an asshole...." Loveline caller: "Umm, how does this help me exactly?" Adam: "Damn Wil Wheaton... gonna kick him in the nuts...." Loveline: "Um, ok..."
