For some odd reason, people seem to believe I am upset about turning 50 next Spring. Well, I’m not. I am actually very excited about this turning point in my life. I plan to write about it for the next six months, hope you enjoy the journey with me! Many years ago the Borghese Mud Mask was my favorite beauty supply. I have decided that it needs to be my new again favorite beauty supply. This mud mask does wonders for your face and not using it for the past 10 years was a mistake. It has kept my face healthy and looking younger. I recommend you look into using this too! Continue reading

I've left the blog alone for quite some time now. Contemplating whether or not to continue, to ramble on, to have fun with it. Since my last post I've gotten dentures (my choice), been to Hawaii, moved to an old town we use to live in, and had my teen son move back home from San Francisco. I'm moving forward with court custody issues, kindergarten adventures and the life of a Junior in highschool and what it means to win over domestic violence in court. My journey to becoming fifty years old next Spring is loaded with topics to cover... So here, I begin again and hope that you will join me on this journey of many things to write about. I hope to encourage anyone on a similar journey with hope and happiness each and everyday. Continue reading

I have to admit that my cousins remark the other day has me thinking. Jacqueline said: "I have found the solution to scrapbooking! Photobooks from Shutterfly instead. So much easier!" I agree with her. There are a number of new websites that now allow you to create photo books online with your digital photos. This can also be the solution to those baby books I never finished! The process of making these online photos books is painless. Each company offers multiple designs, options and is user friendly. Shutterfly Photo Books Tiny Prints Photo Books Snapfish Book Builder Picaboo Photo Books Blurb My Canvas MixBook Kodak Gallery WinkFlash LuLu My Publisher MPIX Smile Books Well, that's the end of the list for now. I hope you can find a service you can enjoy. I belong to a few of these. I am having a look at the other sites I found during my research for this posting. I do not receive compensation for this article. But you are more than welcome to click one of my sidelink ads :) Continue reading

I saw a photo on Pinterest a few weeks ago and I thought I would try to do the same thing. I pinned the photo somewhere on my Beautiful Crafts Board. Now I will pin this one too. The idea works very well, although I will need to shift the spools around to accomodate more ribbon. Thanks to Bed, Bath and Beyond the hanger was $6.99 and with the 20% off coupon they offer you, I received an awesome deal to store my ribbons. Might even consider buying a second hanger. I use vanilla extract nearly everyday when baking. It's as common in recipes as flour and sugar. In the past two years I've started experimenting with other, gourmet vanilla extracts now and again. And I thought it would be fun to make my own-so I gave it a try! I read this tutorial from Ina Garten and decided that I wanted to cut the recipe down a bit as I wasn't sure how long it would take me to use quite that much extract. Fill a bottle with 4 ounces of vodka (feel free to use the cheap stuff for this recipe as it won't matter-we won't be drinking it!) and 1 vanilla bean split down the middle. Seal your bottle and let it soak for 2 months. Ta-da! Vanilla extract! Now you might be thinking:Wait, I'm going to be putting vodka in my cupcake recipes? I'm not too comfortable with that idea.Don't worry-the alcohol burns out as the recipe bakes, leaving only the delicious taste of vanilla. And because extract is made with such a high content of alcohol it can be stored at room temp (and used)indefinitely.Happy baking! xo. emma and elsie via abeautifulmess.typepad.com yum Continue reading
