I've FINALLY finished my second doll. This one way more hands on than the first, and since I hate hand sewing I dragged my feet when it came to getting her done. Right now it's still only available to Patreon patrons, however none of them have yet to express interest, so if any non-patrons might like it let me know. Unlike my first doll, very little of Cada's original clothing was used; I chopped off the majority of her dress, with only the bust area and sleeves remaining, though they are now almost completely covered up. I made a "dress"... Continue reading

I've been doing my best to work on mixed-media stuff a little each day, since I have some down time from school at the moment, and of course am not moving, nor am I shooting. One new idea I had involved canvases and prints on fabric, and it went down in flames. (Almost literally, I thought for a minute about setting it on fire.) The final result wasn't bad, just not what I wanted: I had an extra fabric print of the same image that had come out a bit wonky because I forgot to change the print settings, and... Continue reading

2015 was a mixed bag for sure. While I finally made my way out of Florida and into an area that felt more like home, and things went well health wise for most of the people in my life, cancer still nabbed one of B's cousins, and living without Rowan around was hard. And though being here is great, being so far away from everyone I know and love has become increasingly hard, not helped by the fact that we are still going month to month at a tiny little rental we were only supposed to be in for 3... Loura, It has been a while since I applied, so I can't really recall, plus it might take longer now than it used to. Caryn

I've settled into North Carolina........ kinda. We found it hard to find a place when we were still in Florida, and this area doesn't ever have a whole lot rental wise at one time, so we made the decision to do a 3 month lease at a small apartment while we looked, leaving behind some non-essentials, as well as most of my photo/studio stuff. After almost 6 months, a whole lot of ups, downs, and one serious house related heartbreak later, we're still going month to month at the apartment. And since we're entering winter we're not super hopeful we'll... Continue reading

After many, many years of trying, and a few close calls (like those few days in New Hampshire) I have finally, successfully, gotten the hell out of Florida! It wasn't without it's hiccups though. Finding a place long distance, even with a short trip up here, proved difficult, so my partner in crime and I settled for a short term lease in an apartment, which required leaving some stuff behind in FL with family for the time being. And that includes almost all of my photo related clothing, props and furniture. So, instead of being able to spend the summer... Continue reading

My blog posts are all grown up! After lots of encouragement, emails, comments and finding that I kept having more and more to share, I sat down and created this. (When I should have been doing school work, preparing to move, and sleeping.) With The Beginners Guide to Selling Prints on Etsy i've taken the content from my posts, expanded on them by quite a lot, took better, and more appropriate, pictures, and made the content much more coherent and stream lined. And, yes, slapped a price tag on it, but the blog posts are still intact, and free, and... Continue reading

Hi Kostas, No, those were definitely done intentionally, I was talking about a printing glitch that isn't pictured. Sorry for the confusion.

2014 was brutal, in multiple ways. Cancer and heart failure and sick animals and then my beloved dog Rowan, puppy love of my life, died. *I* was healthy, but when everyone around you is ill it doesn't feel like that matters. Photo stuff wasn't easy either. Nothing was basically. But! I learned a lot, and pushed myself in new ways, and I can't even say i'm disappointed. (Like, I learned that shooting a kid that I wasn't related too isn't that bad! I might even do it again!) Now it's 2015, because I kept putting this off, but so far... Continue reading

Thanks Jacqueline, I'm glad that you found some of it useful. Obviously i'm still catching on to things on a regular basis, it would probably be impossible not to with all the changes they make and options there are! And I agree, i'm surprised most never think of showing the crops. Granted, a lot of people still don't use variations thanks to the lack of being able to do different shipping prices for different sizes, so they might just crop down their main image when they list the same image 8 times for all the different sizes? I would definitely also suggest you don't offer TOO many options. We can put our images on SO many different things that it can just be a LOT to force on a buyer all at once. Just have 10 size options at times feels like a lot! And thank you, I wish you luck with your shops as well. (And man, I wish i could Fed-ex all my stuff! But at least i'm only moving about 7 hours away!)
I won't go on with excuses to why I haven't posted too much (you've heard it all before!) but I did want to pop in to let you all know, in case you don't already, that while i'm not currently making any new images (not really) I have been selling off a lot of stuff to prepare for an out of state move (FINALLY)! Instagram for one, and first and foremost, though I post regular life stuff there too so if you don't want to see waffles and cats and non photo crafty business you can follow my twitter and/or... (I'm happy to share with everyone a much improved and expanded version of these blog posts by way of The Beginners Guide to Selling Prints on Etsy. You can read a little more about it HERE.) I'd hoped there would never be a Part 4, and here I am regardless! (Feel free to visit Part 1 / Part 2 and Part 3 first!) If you've visited my Selling Prints on Etsy blog series recently you probably saw that I added a note to the top of each post sometime around September 2014, because Etsy made some changes they've been promising... 090514. Self portrait. There's been a lot going on lately, not all good, and sometimes I feel a bit lost in it. Yesterday, a few days after taking this, we though we might have to make the decision to put our beloved dog Rowan down, and while she's still with us it's kind of a matter of when at this point. On top of everything else, looking at this picture makes me cry now, but i'm still glad I took it when I did. I don't think self portraits will ever stop being a form of therapy for me. As is typical of my blog posts here I could start apologizing for having gone so long between posts, and since i've already done it a million times before, let's just assume i've said it and move on, ok? My summer vacation ended last week, and with it my ability to focus solely on photo projects. My plan was semi-successful, I definitely got MORE photo related stuff done, but of course things pop up and change the plan and so it wasn't quite all I hoped it would be. But, something is better than nothing, right? And i'm pretty happy... Continue reading

Hi Martha! I have it setup so there are coupon codes that are used at checkout and it automatically discounts the percentage off the whole order. Haven't had any problems with it.
