It's been a really long time since I spent a day just playing. Just creating for the sake of creating and trying out things that have been on my todo list forever. These were very very difficult to take pictures of but I hope you can make them out and see what I did here. This is something I have been meaning to try for a long long time! These are actually very simple to do... (see below for diy instructions) These are chandelier crystals - you know the kind that hang from chandeliers. They are were clear when I... Continue reading

I've added some new items to my shop - some new really free-spirited and whimsical girls as well as some new 6 x 6 villages. I've also added my original Spring Collage piece which I created during my online class of the same name. Here are a few pictures but you can always go to my etsy shop to see more photos with more detail. Even thought this is shipping from Canada I am pretty sure there is still time to get these in time for Christmas - (think good friend, something to bring as a hostess gift, yourself ;... It IS starting to feel like Christmas in this nick of the woods. We finally got some snowfall this week and everything is looking just lovely. This year I decided to go a little unconventional with my tree. In the spirit of keeping things simple, I bought one of those twig, cone trees and decided to use it as my Christmas tree this year. The view above is the scene right outside my window. I took the shot from my balcony - brrrrrrr! It was difficult to give you a good view of this tree and still show how cool... Continue reading

Last week in Video Vednesday I showed you some faces done in pan pastels. When I filmed that I was so into it that I created a second face this time going back and forth between sketching the face and using the pan pastels rather than completing the sketched face and then using the pan pastels. I really like this technique because it gives you different views of the face at different times so that you know where you need more shading, highlighting etc. I am going to show you more of this in the new year in a special... As I've mentioned I work with one of our local hospitals here in Montreal as the volunteer in house artist. This means I create various pieces of art that are given out to corporate sponsors, special volunteers or new hotels as is the case with the piece I did below. The Lakeshore Foundation is donating 2 pieces of my artwork which will be hung in 2 of the new Marriot hotel rooms. The idea was to do a sort of "montage" of hospital related events. There are a few pictures and then the words are quotes from letters the Lakeshore... Continue reading

For those of you who have been following this journey you know that this past summer I moved from a house and downsized into a condo - and I am loving it! Much simpler, less to clean, everything close at hand. So I am still in the process of decorating as you may have seen here and here and here. But since this is my own condo and I can do whatever I like I decided that I wanted to wallpaper. And these days I am loving the chevron pattern and so there was absolutely nothing to stop me from... In my last post I mentioned that I had been getting a lot of custom orders. Here is another order I receive from my new friend Anna. We met when I received an email from Anna asking if I would be interested in painting her Louis Vuitton bag - yep - her Louis Vuitton bag - and I of course said yes! Once we met, Anna asked for a few more things. So here, I made some large (10 x 10 and 12 x 12) chunkies for her daughters room. (This was done after I made an initial set for... Continue reading

Here are a few of my favorites: Fun fun fun Continue reading

From November 15th until November 30th I am hosting a special pre-Christmas all of my online classes* are at $25.00 Go here for all the deails! **************************************************** Sketcing faces is always a challenge. I love doing them because each time it is like doing it for the first time. Sometimes I focus on improving the eyes, sometimes the nose or the lips. What is always interesting is that even if I think I am doing the face the same each time, every face somehow develops its own character on its own. Amazing. Here are a few done over the last... It's time for Video Vednesday and I think todays video is really fun! I have been doing tons of work in my journal and my sketchbook. A lot of these are done just with a black pen and then some small details with a white sharpie that's it! You will also see that I used some of the papers I made with my geli plate which I showed you over here. These are coming in really handy when I don't want to take the time to create a background prior to sketching. This geli print was done on deli paper... Continue reading

So last week when I filmed my piece for Video Vednesday I also filmed 2 videos for this week. The first was the piece I am going to show you now which is actually Part 2 of this piece which I started here. The second video I filmed was a new video- another doodle. Now all was going fine however I recently bought a new laptop (a PC - not a MAC because of finances right now) and this new laptop has a newer version of Movie Maker however it does not work! So I had to then transfer my... Continue reading
