Because it made me giggle at the end of a long day, and maybe it will make you giggle, too: Pan, swinging and singing with a chicken in his lap. Yours, with a big smile, +Chelsea PS: There's still a... Continue reading

Sebastian and the boys just stood in the shower for about fifteen minutes because Quinn wanted to scare me for my birthday and I thought they were working on some secret project and was trying to ignore them so it... Continue reading

This I will admit: I'm a bit of an anglophile. I knit, clean, cook, fall asleep to Hugh and Jamie and Nigella. My dream vacation is an auto tour of the (fictional) Midsomer. Why? For a long time, I didn't... Continue reading

If there is anything I've learned in my (almost) 29 years, it's that projects - and ideas - are almost always better when collaborative. :) Xxoo

Dear Friends, Since the boys were very small, art + creating has played a huge part in how we move through the day. Often, Pan and Quinn will be drawing, painting, building long before Sebastian and I have even pulled... Continue reading

It was an awesome day The sun shone. This boy sparkled. We got to spend most of the day alone with him, while Quinny took a little trip to Salem with his grandma. We walked to the grocery so Pan... Continue reading

He turns six tomorrow. SIX. Yesterday, he told me that he felt a little sad to be turning six, that he really liked being five. Five was a pretty magnificent year for him, it's true. It met many, many new... Continue reading

A brief interuption from knitterly things... I give you: Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Vampire! This is one of my favorite things that Pan took from his Waldorf kindergarten classroom last year: a sweet and enthusiastic knack... Continue reading

Jenn, Milo is one of the easiest, mindless garments you could possibly knit! It's done from the top down, so once you get past the yoke/neck/armhole construction (which is specific, but not complex), it's blissful stockinette in the round sailing! It's one of my favorite pieces to take to the park, or even have in my hands while I read to the boys. Xxoo +Chelsea

More knitty goodness! I quick-knitted this cowl last Christmas, as a gift for Pan's very much beloved kindergarten teacher. She took the children in his class out every morning, rain or shine, and I wanted to make something cheerful but... Continue reading

Katri, once you go down the Milo path, you might find that you aren't able to stop. :) I've actually knit a lot of wrist warmers as gifts, as well, but I always find myself struggling with finishing details... finishing fiddly thumbs, finishing the second glove... Really, anything that comes in pairs I try to stay away from, as I often get bored the second time around. Exception: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/ChelseaB/camp-out-fingerless-mitts -- I've knit more pairs of these than I can remember. Xxoo +Chelsea

I'm sure you've heard me say it before, but the Milo vest is truly a force of function and purposeful beauty. This is, by far, the pattern I've knit the most during my years as a knitter. It all started... Continue reading

They are SO into it this year. We've traditionally been a pretty low-screen-time family. We closely monitor what films / shows the boys watch, and they don't play games on our devices. However, lately I've been letting the boys browse... Continue reading
