It was an awesome day The sun shone. This boy sparkled. We got to spend most of the day alone with him, while Quinny took a little trip to Salem with his grandma. We walked to the grocery so Pan... Continue reading

He turns six tomorrow. SIX. Yesterday, he told me that he felt a little sad to be turning six, that he really liked being five. Five was a pretty magnificent year for him, it's true. It met many, many new... Continue reading

A brief interuption from knitterly things... I give you: Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Vampire! This is one of my favorite things that Pan took from his Waldorf kindergarten classroom last year: a sweet and enthusiastic knack... Continue reading

Jenn, Milo is one of the easiest, mindless garments you could possibly knit! It's done from the top down, so once you get past the yoke/neck/armhole construction (which is specific, but not complex), it's blissful stockinette in the round sailing! It's one of my favorite pieces to take to the park, or even have in my hands while I read to the boys. Xxoo +Chelsea

More knitty goodness! I quick-knitted this cowl last Christmas, as a gift for Pan's very much beloved kindergarten teacher. She took the children in his class out every morning, rain or shine, and I wanted to make something cheerful but... Continue reading

Katri, once you go down the Milo path, you might find that you aren't able to stop. :) I've actually knit a lot of wrist warmers as gifts, as well, but I always find myself struggling with finishing details... finishing fiddly thumbs, finishing the second glove... Really, anything that comes in pairs I try to stay away from, as I often get bored the second time around. Exception: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/ChelseaB/camp-out-fingerless-mitts -- I've knit more pairs of these than I can remember. Xxoo +Chelsea

I'm sure you've heard me say it before, but the Milo vest is truly a force of function and purposeful beauty. This is, by far, the pattern I've knit the most during my years as a knitter. It all started... Continue reading

The boys both requested handknit pom pom hats last autumn, which I of course obliged. I don't believe I ever shared them here, however. These photos are from almost a year ago! Quinn, especially, looks just tiny and luscious to... Continue reading

Man, this little boy has just been charming the pants off of us lately. We had a rough patch for a while there, where we really were questioning our decision to keep him home with us this year, rather than... Continue reading

Rebecca! Great idea. I'll try to consciously take note of what they're doing, and write more posts along those lines. Xxoo +Chelsea

They are SO into it this year. We've traditionally been a pretty low-screen-time family. We closely monitor what films / shows the boys watch, and they don't play games on our devices. However, lately I've been letting the boys browse... Continue reading

The big rushing energy these past several months have required of us seems to have drawn back to that in-breath place now. Not calm, necessarily, but definitely more still. I often find that place uncomfortable. Stagnant. Sluggish. Without school or... Continue reading

In a rare and shining moment of with-it-ness, I have placed an order for our holiday well-wishes. Two spanking months in advance. These gems are the outtakes from a quick family session with Sarah, who clearly sees us for exactly... Continue reading

It's been sniffles and cold-aches over here the past couple of days. It's always rough to be sick at the same time as the little ones. Quinn gets this super scary croup, totally different than anything Pan ever had (and... Continue reading

While we were staying with my parents, HGTV was on virtually all the time in the background, and never really caught their interest (unless they were super tired and needed a snuggle)... which is probably okay! :) XXOO +Chelsea

Katri, thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. I really missed being here, too. We LOVE the Miyazaki films. I've noticed that lately, though, they aren't that interested in watching feature-length shows, but prefer tinier morsels. Which, honestly, is okay by me. Shorter show = less screen time! +Chelsea

Jenn, That is one that we are looking at, there are so many great options here! A big part of our decision, of course, will be the financial end of things, and I think the schools all fall in a pretty broad range of assistance... I guess we'll see! +Chelsea
