First of all: Hey cool my TypePad credentials still work! :) Second: I'm really looking forward to seeing this one. My girls starting playing Munchkin last year when they were eight and love it to death. They also seem to have taken the gaming spirit to heart and developed their own set of house rules that ensure they have maximum fun. :)

It doesn't matter how good a president she would be. A key to this political system is knowing when to step away, knowing when your done, knowing when to give the gracious concession speech. Hillary apparently can't see that line.

GARG! OK, yes, DRM sucks. I'm all with you there but please follow the links back to the source of the story. Techdirt is not reporting anything, all they have is a shoddy synopsis of a New York Times Blog Post that cites an analyst saying he's heard that the studios want to create premium DVDs. There's nothing in the analyst rumour about this being Steve Jobs' idea. It may well be his idea but it's poor practice to just quote links without looking at the original source.

It may be cheating to have someone else read the stories to you however there is mighty fine material (including the Hugo nominees for this year and last) at Escape Pod (http://escapepod.org/)

Carcasonne has spread like a plague through my family and friends. Expansion notes: Traders and Builders, and Inns and Cathedrals extend the basic gameplay but don't radically alter it. The Princess and the Dragon add an element of chaos to the board as the Dragon romps around eating followers. This can force major alterations in strategy from the basic game. I also got to play using the Tower the other day and while introducing less chaos than the Dragon it also produces an alteration in strategies from the basic game. I found it introduced an element of active diplomacy as followers became threatened by the presence of towers on the board. Needless to say I think it's a great game. :)
